A fan-favorite character returns in Gears of War 4 launch trailer

Gears of War 4 developer The Coalition released an explosive launch trailer today that brings a familiar face back into the fold.

The trailer, narrated by the voice of Marcus Fenix John DiMaggio, is underscored by a cover of Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters”, performed by Lissie. The trailer will debut on television tonight — Sep. 19 — during Monday Night Football on ESPN (5:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. ET).

The video’s official description reads:

“After narrowly escaping an attack on their village, JD Fenix and his friends, Kait and Del, must rescue the ones they love and discover the source of a monstrous new enemy.”

Gears of War 4 launches Oct. 11 (or on Oct. 7 for players who purchase the Ultimate Edition) and supports cross-platform co-op on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.

Microsoft Studios recently announced that composer Ramin Djawadi created the game’s score. Additionally, we got our hands on the game at PAX — you can read our impressions here.
