Hey, fellows.

Here's my situation: my system's Ti-4400 seems to be on its way out. It'll run Far Cry without a hitch, but then I'll get artifacting and an eventual freeze/crash in Syberia and the Dominions II demo. The only game I really want to play right now is World of Warcraft, and in its case, I don't get much artifacting, but the game will just lock up every now and again. This really isn't acceptable, as the resulting hard resets are corrupting OS files, etc.

I pulled off the heatsink and fan and cleared out all the dust, but it doesn't appear to have solved the problem. Must be a hardware failure, somewhere. For now, I can try to run it, or I can use this MX-440. But that's not a long-term solution.

I'm looking for something as powerful as the Ti-4400 or better-- but there's no sense in breaking the bank, as my system's only a 1.5 GHz P4 with 512 MB of SD-RAM. DX 9 hardware support would be great, but isn't necessary. And my motherboard only supports 4x AGP, so.... Of course, I have no problem with picking up an 8x card-- I'm sure I'll be upgrading at some point in the future.

So, I'm thinking some kind of 9600, or something? I'd love a 9800; but I don't know that I can afford it, and it probably wouldn't make too much sense considering my processor speed. And heck, a Ti-series card would probably be fine. Please feel free to make other recommendations-- and if you don't have a card to offer, I'd appreciate retail suggestions. My current best prospect is a full-retail Sapphire 9600 Pro 256 for $145 CAD, but I don't really want to pay that much unless I have to. I mean, outside of WoW, I'm not sure how much gaming I'm going to do in the future.

I'm actually sort of on the fence as to whether I should have posted this here or in the hardware section. :? But in the end, I don't imagine that there's anything that can be done to save my card, so I'd love to find another.

As for terms, I guess we're looking at cash payment via PayPal. And you'd need to be willing to ship to Canada. I do have a lot of CDs and some somewhat older games to trade, mind you-- but I won't go to the trouble of creating a list. Just let me know if you're on the look-out for anything.

Thank you very much!
