So here are the rules.

You offer up games and agree to ship them to a claimant for free.  (yes you agree to cover shipping)  You get a point for each game you offer.  You may claim any game offered and have it shipped to you for free.  For each game you claim you lose a point.  Track your own points.  Clear enough?

I'll start us off by Offering up

Titan Quest - PC - with box and manual - claimed

Sounds good.  I'll offer up...

PC Splinter Cell 1 and 2 - cds and manuals, no box
PC Europa Universalis III - cd and manual
PC KOTOR - cds and manual
DS Elite Beat Agents
PC Korsun Pocket
PC Battlefield 2142

Offered 6 - 2 claimed = +4

Thats it for now but I'll look around tomorrow for more.

*edit*  I should mention that I am currently living in Japan-I hope that isn't a hurdle for most people.  I find that it only costs me about $5 to send a video game to the US.

Feel free to reserve a spot but you can just add posts as you go so we know the most recent posts are the newest adds/claims.

Any thoughts on what the max minuses should be.  I think it should be 0 personally but am only the thread starter, not the dictator. Tongue  What say y'all?  Should we allow one to go in the hole a point or two, or force them to man-up?

And drop a note letting folks know that you received it.  I ship first class or media mail so I don't normally insure or track it.  Only ever really had one issue, sending a game to Canada and that could have been an address screw up iirc.

See the thing is this is hopefully people will put stuff up with no expectation of getting something back.  The point isn't to remain close to 0.  Put some games up even if you don't see anything you like so when something pops up you have mojo.  (Not directed at Lassr obviously - just a general thought)

Absolutely.  It's really about letting someone else enjoy the games you don't play anymore, and vice versa.  "One man's trash is another man's treasure".  I just felt that manning up is better to promote listing more games.

-  Syberia (PC - Jewel case disc and manual)
-  Age of Wonders (PC - Jewel case disc)
-  Diablo (PC - Disc, manual, & strat guide)
-  Warcraft II (PC - disc only)

No I don't think you can-that's the brilliance of it!

I thought of another game-

PC Battlefield 2142

It doesn't run on my laptop very well so I don't play it and I can't forsee myself getting another laptop (a game laptop anyways) for another couple years so EA will probably already have shut down the servers by then.  I think I'd like your Silent Hunter 3, Frost.

For the wannabe wargamers out there I've got Korsun Pocket as well.  William Trotter formerly of PC Gamer called it the best wargame of all time back in its day.  This is a great deal because despite the fact that it's 5 years old it still costs $40, thanks to Matrix Games draconian pricing policy.

yes, I agree. My comment is more toward those that go into the negative after a few claims then they can go home and see what they have to put up. (i.e. I'm at +1 but I claim 2 freebies. So, I'm -1. I go home, check my stock and put up more titles the next day to get even or ahead).

Maybe say, you can go into the negative if you have put some freebies up for adoption but not if you have done nothing in the thread. (just a thought)

Two additional requests:

1.  If you're claiming a game, shoot the person a PM with your address.  Folks might skip the thread for a couple days, and might not see that someone claimed a game if a PM isn't sent.  Just a thought...
2.  Please be a bit more forgiving on shipment times.  Remember that people will usually be shipping the cheapest (i.e. slowest) way possible, and getting to the post office to mail that freebie sometimes gets pushed to the back-burner for an extra day or two.  I just remember the old PIFF thread, getting PM's from people wondering where the game was after 3-4 days.    icon_lol

And as always, when you receive your freebie, please remember to leave positive feedback here

I agree 100% on both points. Especially about the shipping times.

Just an FYI for some who might think you have to go to the P.O.  ... I've found that shipping a CD holder in a bubble envelope can be done for 2 to 3 normal stamps. The USPS considers this 'first class' shipping, and is so easy because you can just drop the game into your own mailbox, rather than having to drive to the P.O. and stand in line.

So again, stamps + bubble envelope = cheap, easy shipping, and I've found that usually it will get there as fast as priority in many cases.
