One question about Nintendogs: is that something I would be required to play like every day?  Or does it just let you pick up where you left off, like no time has passed?

I honestly don't need it to be THAT MUCH like having a real pet.

If you leave it for a long time, the dog will need cleaning and feeding when you come back.  I'm not sure if it has effects on it's learning behavior.
