I will soon have the money for a laptop...like 1-2 months. I'd rather buy used if I can. I need something to play games on. Im thinking 15" - 17" dual core and a dedicated graphics card. Needs to have wi-fi. I'm thinking someone has up graded or something and may have one to sell. I can pay a few hundred. I'd like to get it cheaper than new lol. But if I have to Ill buy new somewhere.  Thanks.

BTW what is the lowest model dedicated graphics card I should be looking for in a laptop? Both nVidia and ATI. Im not looking to play the latest stuff on one and not certain types. Like shooters would most likely not work well on a laptop. Unless I get a good mouse I suppose. Im more a net users 4X player on a laptop. But I'd try other things too.

I'm not too up on what's good for laptops, but I can say to stay far away from the integrated Intel graphics chips if you want to play games.  Especially the 4500MHD.

Here's a link with some data on laptop graphics.  It will give you an idea of what to expect from a card.

Good luck!

Thanks I bookmarked that site. Seems the 220m and 240m I had been seeing are better than I thought they were. And wow! the intel 4500 is WAAay down that chart lolz.

Found another site with laptop video card rankings. Seems the 260m I've been looking for as my baseline is a pretty good choice.

You sure you really want a laptop?  You could get way more power out of a PC for the same money.  What is the reason for going with a lappy?

I can take it to town with me and use it when I eat lunch and stuff. I can also use it in bed. Best of all I can hook it to my tv and watch Blue Ray movies like that.

So your looking for a dual core, 15-17" monitor with a dedicated gaming graphics card laptop with a blu-ray player? And your willing to pay a couple hundred for it? Wow, good luck with that...

LOL at the above poster.  If an Nvidia 260M is the "baseline" then you aren't going to have much luck with that.  A laptop with that kind of card AND bluray is going to run $800-$900 minimum.
Why don't you just get of of those netbooks that have better than 1024x600 resolution and just concentrate on playing older classics?  It would be ultra portable too.

Ohh no you misunderstand. The feeler thing is hoping someone has an old used one they no longer need..of any type. I dont care if its 1 ghz 14" with whatever graphics. I have old stuff I can play if that happens. I would rather have someone's throw away. Then again I know there are those that must have the best out there and will replace their notebook every year or two. Something like that I'd be willing to pay more for of course. But still less than new.

The 260m baseline comment is for if I buy a brand new system. If I have to go the new route then this is what I plan to get

Again though my OP is hoping someone has an old one they replaced and no longer want and would be willing to part with cheaply smile

?? Huh? Me?

That link is to a $1000 pure gaming power house laptop. I think thats an amazingly low price for a desktop replacement laptop. I've seen then for 4k. I saw someone else on here or OO looking for one and I think they spent over 2500. I wasn't expecting on finding a pure gaming laptop for less than $800 but finding one just $200 more is awesome.

Yes.  You.  Regardless of whatever "deal" you think you might be getting on that laptop, it's clear you need to learn how to manage your money better.
