We just dug my wife's old Atari 2600 out of the basement, but all we have are the paddles.  Anyone have some spare joysticks laying around that still work?

Just a side note, if you don't end up finding someone who has one, I was able to convert a Sega Genesis controller to an Atari joystick (for my C64) by clipping a single wire. I think you can still get Genesis controllers a lot easier than the Ataris.

Gratch -

Check out the local Wal-Mart - there's one of those new TV games called the "Atari Flashback 2" that comes with two joysticks which are completely compatible with the old Atari 2600.

And yeah, Genesis controllers will work as well - I have two that do great, without any wire-clipping needed.
