Just curious if there was interest in starting a PIFF thread here.  I know I personally gave and received a ton of games through that thread, and would like to see it continue here.  If GG is gone, that is.

I hadn't yet had a chance to participate in the GG PIFF threads, but I do have some stuff that I'm ready to include, and would love to see it continued here.

If, that is, GG is in fact dead.

Absolutely!  I'd offered to take over maintaining the master list from Grundbegriff as he was very busy and couldn't update very often.  He never got back to me to officially pass the torch.  Since we're starting new, I'm glad to help with it.

Plus I have several freebies from the old thread that were never claimed.  I can start by listing those.

I'm interested, of course, but I can't remember what all I have on PIFF.  It'd be really nice if we could get at least the last thread ported over somehow so that people don't have to start over on their karma.  But that's just me.  Not that I can't get the karma back slywink

How about we give it till Monday to see if The Resurrection takes place?
If GG is still dead then, since Knightshade Dragon is okay with it, we can start it up sometime on Monday.

If Grundbegriff comes forth and still wants to maintain the list(s), its his baby.  Since he emailed me asking if I wanted to take over, I'm guessing he wouldn't mind giving it up.  If he wants out, I'm happy to do the maintaining and Gratch has generously offered to help as well.

And if someone has the old list that would be just peachy otherwise we'll start from scratch.

Sound ok?

Heya,

My intention was to bring everything up to date, explain to warning how I go about compiling and updating the lists, and then pass the torch to him.

That's still my plan.  Moving from one house to another over the past couple of weeks thwarted it!  biggrin

If gonegold stays offline, it'll be necessary to start from scratch (possibly grandfathering those whose karma can be reconstructed up to a certain point).

Unless the kind folks at Console Gold want to maintain their own PIFF list, might I suggest waiting until Monday or so to start this up?  Reason being, if you start it now, you're committing yourself to this site once someone takes a game off your hands.

That said, you guys at Console Gold that didn't come from GG should LOVE this idea as long you guys trust those involved.  Which I guess brings up another point, it's difficult to verify that we are who we say we are, unless you've retained the email addresses of those you've dealt with before.  PIFF is an easy way to lose out on games.  You guys will need to keep close tabs on everyone's freebies/karma for a while.

Have Fun.  smile

Yup, what setaside said.  Let's wait until Monday to see if anything happens with GG before we start listing games.  If GG does come back, we obviously don't want to have the same games listed on both forums.

Well, -I- can't find GG as of this morning, and made the migration here. Nice to see all the GG PIFF peeps here!

Now I just need to find what I still have to put up for PIFF....

And yes, it's me. Who else would register this name?

Yeah I guess we should start posting our lists here.  I'm not sure we can get the old info back so I'll start compiling a list based on what people post in here.

I'll try to get my list of freebies up this evening.

I have info up to and including the last update I posted.  An 8-page thread intervened, though much of that consisted of comments about delivery and such.

We could post that previous update as our starting point and try to reconstruct what took place in the intervening pages, if you wish.  Still, it seems that starting from scratch with warning at the helm is the best solution.

I'll e-mail warning privately to divulge my trade secrets and know-how. slywink

I agree.  New forum, lets make a clean break with the old.  I'll start a new thread and we can start posting our stuff.

Mwah hah hah.  Finally.  It shall be mine.

Seriously, let's have a moment of silence and appreciation for Setaside who came up with the original idea and Grundbegriff who worked tirelessly to maintin and update the lists.  And he didn't get paid nearly what I'm going to be raking in!

Edit: the link to the new thread is here.

If you've posted a list in this thread, would you mind moving it to the official thread please?  Thanks and enjoy!

Quck question - Are we also resetting Karma (i.e. any you had from GG does not carry over)?  I assume we are since this will be a clean slate.

I think we have to reset Karma.  Previous Karma was based on the number of games you offered minus games you claimed.  Since we are not automatically carrying over our lists of games I don't see any way to carry Karma over.  But there's nothing to prevent you from relisting your games.  If you offered 6 games more than you claimed on the old forum and had +6 Karma, you could list those 6 games here to start with and your Karma's starts at +6.

Hope that makes sense.

EDIT - moved to official thread (which I though this was).  As for the Silent Hill...I'm only offering it in case someone wants to replace one of their other discs (missing, broken, etc) or only have the discs and want the box and manual.  I'm not counting it towards the karma.

Hey Gratch...I'd love Disciples II.  I can put up a few myself:

Commandos 1 (PC)
Silent Hill 3 (PC, Missing Disc 1 but has box, manual, other 4 CDs)
Unreal (PC)

Karma +2 (not counting Silent Hill since it's not complete)

ericb could you please make requests and list your games in The Official PIFF Thread: http://consolegold.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1470

And I'm not sure of the wisdom of offering what is, essentially, a broken game (Silent Hill 3).  I'm guessing it will not even intall without Disc 1.

Thanks!

Hey unbreakable thanks for posting.  This thread is actually just for discussion only - the Official PIFF thread is stickied near the top of the list for Game Trading.  You'll find it here: http://www.consolegold.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1470.

You might want to repost which games shipped in that thread.

Thanks!

Edit: I'm going to lock this thread as it tends to cause confusion.  If you have further discussion about PIFF you can refer to the original thread or start a new post if you'd like.

The Official CG Pay It Forward Freebies Thread is found here.
