I didn't do a previous offer. I'm feeling a little wonky so maybe I just missed it. I'll check again tomorrow.

it showed up on my dashboard tonight, so i jumped on the deal...entered my credit card number and got the deal, but it did say that i won't actually be charged until i reach my renewal date next year.  that means i'm all set for a renewal in May 2011 and won't have to renew again until 2012.  i think i'm set for a while 

other than that, there seems to be some mystery over how you get the helmet for your avatar...lots of people talking about the deal over at CAG, but noone has gotten the helmet yet...

When I signed up for the 3 months for $10 deal, they sent me the code for the free Crackdown 2 mask in an e-mail.  It took a few weeks to get the e-mail, which is probably how this deal will work.

I'm on 3 months for $10 right now. It runs out Oct 1st and will then charge me $25.00. But the deal won't work because I have a deal and it's for a different amount of months. Does anything think it would work if I go in and change my membership to 12 months and then try to get the deal? I don't want to change it and it charge me to do that right then and then try to get the deal.

you're all set...the wording isn't exactly clear, but it's telling you that you have a pending auto-renewal ready to go for the lower price.  it just shows up that way because they won't actually bill your account until your current membership expires.

Keep in mind that if you take the deal they will continue to renew your membership each year at the going rate, which is $49.99 now I think.

I'm planning on setting this up and then continuing to watch for the $30 1 year cards.  I suspect that you'll still be able to add cards and keep the $30 renewal active for whenever the last card expires.

Regarding the automatic auto-renewal changes.. seems like whatever method you last used to renew, becomes your auto-renewal option.  I was doing annually then bought that 3 months for $10, and it switched me to auto-renewing for 3 month intervals.  Had to manually switch it back to annual.

a forum member over CheapAssGamer got in touch with MS/Live support and was told they should expect an e-mail with a marketplace code for the avatar helmet to arrive in the next 4-6 weeks...

I just did it tonight.  There's a trick to getting it appear, too (it never appeared for me this entire time).  According to the gang at CAG, if you use one of the one month free codes (one came with GTA IV, for example), it will magically appear in your Spotlight.

well that's just odd behavior then.  the deal was still visible after i bought it but disappeared today.  reading some of the cag thread leads me to believe that they have some very odd criteria for who gets to see this.

they also said that if you already bought the deal last month for $40, call ms support and ask them to price match it.  been some luck getting that done.

Thanks for this heads up - I had a 1 month code from the last time my xbox red ringed. Put it in last night, and voila! The deal showed up.

the whole thing has been a bit wonky, but from the massive cag thread i have gleamed a few things.  one, the deal is supposed to be available to everyone, silver or gold members alike.  two, it runs through the 27th of september, so if you see it now, you have two days left to get it.  three, prior dashboard deals like the $1/1 month deal or the deal they ran on labor day have been shown to interfere with the deal showing up on the page.  best bet is to cancel the current promo (some have had success getting the previous deal voided and refunded) and then getting the new one.  four, best way to get in on this now would be via the Live twitter account or via the Live 800 number.  if i can find these, i'll update the post.  should be easily googled fwiw.

and the codes will be sent 4-6 weeks after you buy the deal, so sometime in november most likely.
