Does the steam versions of the stalker games allow mods? I haven't been able to retrieve my old account; does anyone know if you can merge accounts if I do get my old one back? The email I used way back is dead, my first purchase was hl2 on steam so I don't have the serial key and I haven't been able to guess what my account name was.
looking over the Steam forums it sounds like it does.

Also picked up the Lucasarts Adventure Pack. I went and picked up GTA IV and STALKER (both Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky). Anyone have thoughts on the following: Spellforce Platinum Edition (never got around to playing the series, so thought I start here) Gratuitous Space Battles Star Wars Jedi Collection Act of War: High Treason Act of War: Direct Action AI Fleet Command X2/X3 pack

Anyone have thoughts on the following: Spellforce Platinum Edition (never got around to playing the series, so thought I start here) Own it, never played. If you play it before I do, let me know (aren't I so helpful?) . Gratuitous Space Battles Fantastically awesome casual game. Build ships, unlock new parts and hulls, figure out what kind of fleet deployment will overcome the next challenge, and have at it! Some people refer to it as "a tower defense game in space ... where the towers move" Star Wars Jedi Collection These were great back in the day, not sure how well they've aged. Act of War: High Treason Act of War: Direct Action AI Fleet Command Never picked these up, but they look pretty tempting. X2/X3 pack These are SERIOUS space sims, with a very steep learning curve in how to play the game. This level of sim is too much for some people, while for others it's right up their alley. I'd consider picking up the pack to try them out and see which side of that fence you fall on right away, and if you like them then you can pick up X3 Terran Conflict for $10 more before that sale runs out.

Star Wars Jedi Collection
I bought this mainly for outcast and jedi academy. There are some rumblings that Dark Forces II doesn't include music (it was CD based at the time) Damn you STEAM, just bought a bunch of indie/older games including: Witcher Braid Trine Jedi Knight Collection Jade Empire KOTOR Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

So far I loaded up on the cheap ones:
Defense Grid - $2.49 Ghost Master - $1.00 Mirror's Edge - $4.99 Rome: Total War GOLD - $2.49 Zombie Bowl-O-Rama - $0.99 World of Zoo - $4.99 (my 5-year old loves it so far! highly recommended for kids!)
That's a lot of gaming for less than $17! Can't wait to see what pops up tomorrow on sale.

Picking up Mirrors Edge and IL2 Sturmokvik for $5 each. Man it sucks the games I picked up before for great deals (like Stalker for $5 and the witcher for $19.99) are on sale again for even cheaper than before, and the games that I didn't pull the trigger on before (like Guild Wars and Torchlight) aren't on sale this time around! Torchlight is $9.99Now that it's on sale again I'm not so keen on getting it anymore What do they say about wanting what you can't have? Having bought The Witcher and Stalker for more than they're going for now has shown me that it really doesn't make sense to build up a backlog. At least not in this digital age. Back in the day of buying in a brick and mortar store if you saw a great deal on a game you would have to buy it because not only would you not get a deal like that again you might not be able to even buy the game down the road. But these Steam games will always be available on the Steam catalogue. I've got a good good years worth of PC games on my plate and by the time I get through with them I'm sure Torchlight will be back on sale again for $9.95 or less.

Picked up GTA IV and STALKER: Clear Sky. I'll probably end up picking up a couple more titles. Maybe Chronicles of Riddick...

actually, assault on dark Athena always included EfBB. It's the one with updated graphics. I know. Just emphasizing that you're getting two games for six and some change. Seems like a good deal. It's a good deal and they are great games, especially for that price. Just an FYI. I'm fairly sure the Steam version has Tages DRM which has a hard limit of three installations and doesn't allow you to revoke (get back) any activations.

Has anyone played the act of war games on win7 64bit. Theres some talk on the steam forums that 64bit systems are not supported. Would love to pick them up at that price but if its a no go on 64bit then Im out of luck. Apparently there is a workaround to limit the memory on vista 64 but not sure how that works in win 7. Thanks

Here is the message from Steam: After activating the third time your product using TAGES a 30-day timer starts. After 30 days you will get that activation back up to 3 total activations. So is the hard limit only within 30 days?

Hmm. Not sure. I actually bought the game when Direct 2 Drive had it on sale for $5 so I don't know if Valve worked out a different DRM arrangement with them. That sounds a lot better than what I thought.
Edit: To be honest, the game is so good (especially Butcher Bay) that it's completely worth it even with restrictive DRM, especially at that price. It's a no-brainer.

So is the hard limit only within 30 days? Yes...so after 30 days, you can get an activation back again. You get a certain number of activation within the 30 day period, but unlimited install - so at worst case scenario, you wait 30 days to get your activation back.

I wasn't worried too much about the Riddick copy protection- after one playthrough I doubt I'll play it more than twice.
less than 2 hours before the special deals change. I wonder if this is going to be another 48 hour period because of the holiday tomorrow.

I just added GTA IV and Foreign Legion: Buckets of Blood to my bought list.
I would pass on Foreign Legion. From the limited reviews I found, there is only ONE scenario - which the reviewer said would only take 10 minutes for most gamer to complete. And then you can "replay" the same scenario, yuck.

I want to get GTA IV but it is not available to purchase at my region. Too bad I found out that it is in the daily sale in US just now with only 15 mins left in the clock so it is too late for me to get someone in US to purchase it and gift it to me.

I don't remember...but have they ever dropped the price on things already on sale to make it a daily deal? Wondering if I should hold off until Jan 2nd for some of the stuff I have in my cart...and see if they drop them in the daily deal.

@ Ridah: go to settings, then download tab.
@ Zero: Serios Sam HD was already on sale and they bumped it down even more, so it might be wise to wait on anything expensive. my rule of thumb for this sale is anything over 10 bucks (except the TellTale pack, I can't see them going lower on that madness) waits until the 2nd.

The only thing that interests me in the ID pack is the Quake series...it would be good to get rid of these discs.

They have daily deals, which lasts for only a certain number of hours. GTA IV (along with the other stuff on sale) went off this morning - and back to normal price they go. Right now the deals for the following games are good for the next 16 hours (as of this writing, and copied from Moilere up above): Need for Speed: Shift $37.49 Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter $9.99 Left 4 Dead 2 $33.49 id Super Pack $23.79 Football Manager™ 2010 $29.99

Torn on what to buy. So many good deals.
Left For Dead 2: 33.49 Fallout 3 GOTY (got it for Xbox, but thinking of getting it on my laptop):37.49 Borderlands: 33.49 Batman Arkham Asylum: 33.49 King's Bounty: Gold Edition: 30.14
What should I get? =)
Still waiting for a deal on Mass Effect so I can complete it on my computer for ME2, but I'm not looking forward to all those planet explorations in the moon buggy again. That part got old fast.

If you had to pick only one of those, my vote would have to go to Batman: Arkham Asylum. Best game I played all year, and when you consider that 2009 also included games like Red Faction: Guerrilla, Dragon Age, Dawn of War II and Demon's Souls, that's high praise. My second pick would go to Borderlands which I'm currently playing solo on the 360. It really nails the sense of steady, rewarding progression that you want from an action RPG, and the shooting mechanics are tight and satisfying. I've heard complaints about the narrow FOV and erratic multiplayer matching in the PC version, though, so I'd recommend looking up some of the workarounds people have come up with before you take the plunge. -Autistic Angel

Aaaargh! Should have waited on Armored Princess.
Although, given Steam's need to limit where I can install, I'm not sure it would have worked anyway.
