$10 seemed a little high for Oblivion GOTY. I thought I paid around $5 for the Deluxe version during the last sale.
Did the Deluxe version have the two expansions? If not, you can think of it as $5 for the game and $5 for the expansions. Either way, $10 is still a steal for all that content. The Deluxe version came with both expansions and all the DLC. The current $10 sale is only for the game and 2 expansions without the DLC. Wow, that is pretty nice, I guess. I got all the DLC back on the 360 and it wasn't that great, so I can definitely do without. they did offer the deluxe version for $12.50 though. waiting to see if today's sales will get a bite from me. i have sat out the last two rounds despite there being interesting games for cheap. i just know i won't get around to playing them.

Nii-ce sales today! The 'Red Alert' games at 5 bucks each? 'STALKER' bundle for 5 bucks? 'Supreme Commander 2' for $3.74? Me thinks I'm picking several games today.

Damn, I've blown my Steam budget, but I'd love to get Dawn of Discovery. I really enjoyed the Wii version and I've read the PC version bests it in every way. I'm going to be disciplined and resist temptation.
For anyone on the fence for the Jedi Knight collection, grab it at that price even if you've only a marginal fan of Star Wars. The 2 later games (Jedi Outcast and Academy) best any Star Wars game this gen by a wide margin. And Outcast's story IMO is only rivalled by KotOR as far as SW video games go. They may be a bit long in the tooth visually, but they have hours of gameplay and both have healthy online communities. I just replayed both this year and was pleasantly surprised how well they've held up.

I'll be getting Guardians of Graxia and its map pack. That has been on my watch list for a while. According to the dev's posts in the forums, they will add randomness to the maps in the expansion coming this new year.

I wish they'd bundle all three STALKER games together - Clear Sky always seems to get left out of the mix.
different pub. deep silver released that one. thq released the first one and gsc released the last one. pretty sure deep silver retained the rights to CS. Nii-ce sales today! The 'Red Alert' games at 5 bucks each? 'STALKER' bundle for 5 bucks? 'Supreme Commander 2' for $3.74? Me thinks I'm picking several games today.
Never gave the STALKER series much of a look. Fans out there? get the pack and start with SoC. CoP is more refined so if the rougher gameplay of the first gets on your nerves, try that one instead. they are not direct sequels (you play a different character in each), even though CoP references it. CoP is more freeform and closer to the original design. SoC is still pretty cool though, especially with later mods/graphic updates. there are a lot of mods for all of the games and they keep getting better imo.

There's certainly lots of mods for both games, but I honestly haven't explored them as I wanted to play online with my son and didn't want to risk a mod preventing that. The INI's for both game can be edited to allow them to run widescreen and when run that way the aspect ratio is scaled correctly. The 1 caveat to that is you can't edit the INI for either game if you want to play co-op Vs BOTS. For some reason both games CTD if you run them that way; can still play them 4:3 in that mode though. They're both built on the Quake 3 engine, but IMO they're the best games visually that ever utilized that engine.

I have been watching Breaking Bad - my addiction could be so much worse . I acquired a rig capable of gaming this year after a two year hiateus and an attempted 'switchover to consoles'. The consoles are fine but I am a PC gamer at heart. Having rediscovered Steam it appears I am but in the game full-on. I have enough for two years plus - and I didn't even try hard. Hope everyone has a great New Year!

Resist less. Dawn of Discovery Gold for $15 is an absolute steal for anyone even mildly interested this style of supply-chain builders. The interdependence of the Occidental and Oriental islands adds a great flavor to the inter-island trade, there are tons of side objectives you can fulfill to outfit your settlements and units with RPG-style boosts, and the naval / land combat is better than any other game in the series. Buy it! Oh, absolutely agreed. Newcomers should be aware that the first third or so of Jedi Outcast actually plays like a traditional -- and tough! -- first-person shooter, but its really a brilliant way of setting up the incredible sense of power once you finally regain access to your jedi powers. Persevere, and the payoff is outstanding! -Autistic Angel
