Picked up Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for $6.25. It's been a long time since I played a battlefield game, but I felt I needed a shooter that wasn't CoD style.

Sweet, come to our server, it's a squad deathmatch type.  Really fun and you can rack up points quicker than ctf.  I'll get the ip later today and post it.

I've seen this for sale twice now but I've passed it up both times because I'm just afraid it's old enough to where no one is playing it online much. That's basically all that game is. I'd hate to buy it to find out it's dead.

Nope, Dawhawk, bunch of servers/people still playing it through the week and a lot more on the weekends.  I just started playing again a couple weekends ago and it's still kickin!

I picked up:

Oddworld pack
PB Winterbottom
Death Spank Thongs of Virtue
Sniper Elite (looks worth a buck and a half)

a couple of the megapacks look great, as do several indie packs about about 1/2 dozen of the $2/$3 titles but I am trying to show some restraints - there are several days left... drool damn it...

I pickup up battlefield 2 and would like to get the vietnam expansion, do you think it will go on sale or is $14.99 as low as it's going to get this holiday?

Also, for anyone tempted by the most recent Prince of Persia game on sale: realize that it has that Ubisoft DRM which requires you to be online at all times while playing the game. This made me decide to pick it up later for Xbox or PS3 (if I don't lose interest), instead of taking advantage of the current sale.

Thanks for the reminder.  I picked up Two Thrones last night, and am on the fence about the cell-shaded one.  Was it any good?

Think I'll grab PB Winterbottom as well.  Looks interesting enough, and for $.50...why not?

I liked the cel shaded PoP quite a bit, but it's fairly different from the original trilogy in several ways.  Still retains the crazy acrobatic stuff, just changes the focus from demanding skill in making the jumps to puzzling out the route you need to use to get from A to B, then making the actual execution of that route more automated.

I bought the newest one without even thinking about the crummy DRM.  I'm kind of annoyed, but I guess I'll live.

Some of the older games mentioned are ones I couldn't get to run on Windows XP, much less on Vista 64-bit. Is Steam doing any GoG-ing to make sure these can run on newer OS's?

Republic Commando
Caster (not sure about this one, but it's for Mac and was 99 cents)

Nothing today. I already either own todays specials, have no interest in them, or have them on the 360 (TR:GoL for instance).

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box $5
Disciples III - Renaissance Steam Special Edition $7.50 (although both the Gamespot review and the Steam Meta scores are pretty low)

try rebooting your PC or check your task manager and see if there's an instance of Steam still running under processes.  I have had it occasionally not shut down right.

Wel lthat and it's only $15 at the normal price.  That is a super bargain in today's game pricing market.

I think Hepcat was the only one around here to jump on Disciples 3.   (Everyone else was leery because of the shitty reviews.)
Then a few days later, hepcat confirms it is shitty.

Of course, my shitty memory could be wrong, may want to search the pc forum to confirm.

Decided to pull the trigger on Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box for $5. I enjoyed Flatout, but pretty much played through the game. Needed another driving game.

This is probably the 3rd or 4th time I've bought this game over the years, but it's worth it for the convenience.

I've got the whole lot on a considerable number of CDs, so a couple of months ago I jumped on the chance to buy it from GOG, also for the convenience.  A timelessly classic game. thumbsup
