It was kinda revealed in the scavenger hunt thread but Valve removed the reference, but the Oddworld bundle is being released on the 20th, and they mention it's half off the first day 'as part of the holiday sale'. So, ladies and germs, put down the wallet over the weekend and get it rested for Monday.

This has been a public service announcement smile

The good/bad part of constantly buying off Steam sales is that it's unusual that I don't own one or more games from all the bundles they do, which makes them easier to resist.

Yeah, I'd buy three or four more of those packs if I didn't already own most of the games there.  Having said that, during that last sale the packs were as cheap as just one of those games anyway, which would absolutely make it worthwhile.

My backlog of games is going to break the 100 mark soon.

This.  I almost never get the packs, unless I can get one for the same price I'd pay for two of them.

What they should really do is have a pick-and-choose menu and let you get any five games from a group of twenty.  I probably mean they should do that for us, I'm sure they've figured out that this works better for them.

of course it does.  i already have bought a handful of games more than once due to the last sale.  if the new packs are also a buck per game, i will probably do the same.

definitely in on the oddworld pack though.

there'd better be, or else there will be much angst via internet forums everywhere! icon_lol  I guess we'll be able to tell the sale is on when no one can access Steam.

The indie bundles were revealed early when Steam put up new listings for these bundles, presumably in preparation of the sale.  That's the only reason why these are known in advance.

Banner is up now, and...shit.  I thought I was going to be pretty safe this year, as I could only think of a couple games off the top of my head that were on a "if they get cheap enough" list.  Looks like I was wrong, as I'm looking at the following just from today:

-  Bunch of the Prince of Persia games (I've only played the first and bits & pieces of the second).
-  Deus Ex collection (I wasn't crazy about DE2, but still have never tried the original  icon_redface)
-  Indie Fantasy Pack

What's up with the Indie "Heavy Hitters" pack?  Says its "not available in your region".  Huh?  Might go for that one too if it's only $5.

Torchlight for $10? Who are they kidding?

Anyway, there is a TON of stuff to sift through. Again, they have put up Civ IV complete for super cheap, and again I am torn about getting it because I have never been able to get into micro management games. But it's only $6.24! Should I get it, or am I just going to feel overwhelmed and drop it immediately?

I think they had Guild Wars + expansions for $20 last year and I was kicking myself for not picking it up. Kind of hoping they have another deal like that. There are some NCSoft discounts now, but not much.

There are only a few games that CAN be gifted when purchased more than once.

With Valve games it DOES work though ... but only once per license.

So if you bought Orange box, then most of the Valve games in the pack will be able to transfer as a gift.

The sales giving relief to anyone who's disappointed with Lucas Arts piss poor Star Wars offerings this gen. All Lucas Arts games are 50% off, so you can get last gen's awesome games (Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, Republic Commando, etc.) for only $5. And the entire Jedi Knight collection is on for $10. I know I'm definitely picking up Rep Commando for $5 and even though I already own Empire@War, I'm picking up the gold which includes the expansion for $10.   slywinkthumbsup
