I'd say Gothic 1 is worth playing through. personally I had a lot of fun with Gothic 3, granted it was the first Gothic game I played before G1 & 2 became openly available. didn't finish it though as I switched computers and the saves got lost in the transfer.

Arcania wasn't terrible but it also wasn't really Gothic. More like Gothic lite. From what I recall it was close to a 20hr game. I played through the entire thing, and enjoyed parts of it, but never had enough enthusiasm to install the add-on (Setariff) even though I own it.
