The Total War sale brings Shogun II down to $7.49 today (and the Blood Pack down to $0.39 )

That's a great price for Shogun 2, but I can't help but feel its not a Total War sale without Rome and Medieval 2 (the 2 best in the series IMO) getting a similar discount.

Otherwise todays sale does nothing for me. The LotR WitN discount is a joke - it had a better discount than that earlier in the month at Best Buys and EB's in my area.

Not much today. Not sure about these prices too. LOTR: WITN was like $15 on Green Man. And Dungeon Siege 3 was $5 on Amazon the other day (but does not come with Dungeon Siege 1/2).

Have to say yesterday's winter achievements for Dungeon Defenders and Revenge of the Titans are freaking impossible - or at least so hard its not worth it. Was having fun trying the achievements up to that point.

Have won 3 games for completing these achievements so far (Fallout collection, Worms Crazy Golf and Left 4 Dead) and a bunch of coupons. Not sure what to do with the coal. Roll the dice or turn them in to another coupon/game.

Question about the Total War series. If I haven't played any Total War games since Rome one, which one is the best for me to pick up now that they're all on sale? Or maybe that grab all of them?

BTW, there is also Total War Mega Pack for 12.49, you get all pre-Shogun 2 games on Steam including DLCs, but if you buy separately by adding  Empire & Napoleon Total War : GOTY + Medieval II Gold + Rome Complete you can get it cheaper than the Mega Pack by 2 cents.

To get all Total War games that are available on Steam, you pay $26.12. This is tempting.

EDITED TO ADD:

Be careful if you're going to buy Medieval 2, If you add Medieval 2 to your cart through that Total War holiday sale page, you'l get the base game without Kingdoms expansion.

If you go directly to Medieval 2 page, you can probably find Medieval 2 Gold edition which include Kingdoms expansion for the same price.

For some region including mine, Medieval 2 Gold isn't available to buy so to get only Medieval 2 and the expansion, you need to spend extra $1.24 for the expansion. For region that Medieval 2 Gold is not available and you're going to get all pre-Shogun 2 games and expansions then buying Total War Mega Pack for $12.49 will save you $1.22 instead of being more expensive by 2 cents.

Same here, I think I got 18 rewards and only got 3 coupons and 15 coal. Then I turned it 14 coals and got 2 more useless coupons.

Be careful if you're going to buy Medieval 2, If you add Medieval 2 to your cart through that Total War holiday sale page, you'l get the base game without Kingdoms expansion.

Yeah this has been the case for TW Medieval 2 Gold for some time on Steam and its very annoying. When I bought my 3rd copy earlier in the sale I was careful to select Gold. I think the reason for that is as you've suggested - its a region thing due to another publisher getting the rights to distribute Gold in NA. I bought 1 of my Gold as a boxed game at an EB and IIRC it was a different pub than the original.

Sorry I missed your post yesterday. If I was to rate those that are available on Steam my ranking would  be Rome > Medieval 2 > Shogun2 > Empire or Napoleon. I've only admittedly ever shoulder gazed my nephew playing the latter two, but I wasn't as nearly impressed with them.

Upon closer inspection, the TF2, Borderlands and Defense Grid are gifts I sent out that hadn't been redeemed yet.
