Apparently Amazon is adding another benefit to their Prime membership?

You can now save 20% off new physical video games as detailed below and on this page

Quote
Prime Exclusive Savings
20% off new physical video games during pre-order through two weeks after release
Discount will be applied automatically at checkout
Offer valid when shipped and sold by Amazon

Video Game Customers Also Enjoy
Release Day Delivery (Free for Prime Members)
Pre-order Price Guarantee

Since I order from there so often anyway this is a really nice bonus!

Ooh, now I have to debate going to Best Buy (same discount) or Amazon.

Deliveries come late in my area, and I can get to Best Buy at 10am.  OTOH, Best Buy never has products I'm looking for on the shelf, so it's always an hour in the store.  Plus gas.

This is good, and a nice step towards making them competitive against Best Buy's gamer club unlocked, although that still pays off due to regular $10 certs on pre-orders and and the small % back from reward zone.

For the occasional buyer, this is a great deal and makes Amazon more alluring.

Bull, in my case, BB's release day shipping is pretty much the same as Amazon.  All of my pre-ordered games have been delivered by 7PM, even during the pre-xmas surge.

It's a bummer that most of Amazon's discounts don't apply to digital...

One nice little aspect of this is that even if you are against preorders and always wait for reviews, the discount applies for up to 2 weeks after launch.  A neat touch in my opinion.

In response to this I have pre-ordered like six games. Good deal, now have a ps4 equivalent to green-man-gaming for PC for me.

The really nice thing is it applies to PC games as well as video games.  At least it does now...a few days ago I tried with the Division PC and it wouldn't apply the discount but it worked today.
