Check this out.  The DVD edition of SHIII is now available for 19.99.  If you were waiting for this one, I highly recommend the purchase.

I've eyeballed this game for some time but since I only have CD ROM on my system, I thought I was out of luck (not really worth upgrading to DVD as I'm saving for a new PC.)  I now see at UBI that I can download this.  I've always been loath to go the route of software downloads over having an actual disk and manual but at $19, I think I'll give it a try.  Thanks for the heads up.

Good point.  I had the plastic out last night at the UBI site when I remembered this discussion.  I googled Starforce and then wondered if it would be installed on a direct download (since it is to prevent piracy of the DVD ROM as I understand it).  I'm pretty sure that even though I'd be doing a direct download, I'll get Starforce installed with the game so I bailed.

Thats too bad.  That really looks like a a game I'd enjoy.  My machine runs pretty much flawlessly right now and I don't want to risk screwing it up for a game and its crappy copy protection.

if you buy the download version of the game, and then buy a new computer like a week later, can you go back to the website and re-download the game on your original purchase?  That's the only thing holding me back from buying downloaded games.
