Has anyone played this one?  It looks like it might be a fun little shooter, good for some stress relief.

For $5, i'm in.

Played some today, it's fun so far. The graphics and lighting are very good - gameplay is kind of diablo 2, hellgate style (with lots of exploding barrels!). Looks like it'll be a fun little beer & pretzels game. Not bad at all for $5.

I played the demo.  It was good.  Ran a little slow on my system though.  For 5 bucks you cant go wrong.

I have it. A solid, unambitious game. Lots of fun and definitely different from the games I usually prefer.  Can't really go wrong for $5 anyways. Enjoy!

I was a big fan of the original Shadowgrounds, hung out at Frozenbyte's forums a lot, but for some reason the demo for the followup never grabbed me. Frozenbyte is a good small dev though, and their marketing folks are friendly at the forums. I think they don't quite have the manpower or resources to do all the things fans want just yet but hopefully they are a snowball gathering steam and resources.  icon_smile

so we can blame ROTC if it actually stinks?  I think I'm actually going to pick up both for 15 bucks.

I had a blast with the game smile  For $5, you have a fun little game that will help you tide over some time.  It helps that it looks nice, too smile

well, I went ahead and grabbed both games for 15 bucks since I liked both demos.  I'm at least halfway through the first game and having a blast.  I do have one question:  is there any way to save the game in mid-level, or do you just have to restart it if you have to quit before the level is finished?

I played the first mission last night.  Very neat looking game, with all the light and smoke effects and whatnot.  I amused myself by constantly walking through piles of boxes and barrels to watch the physics stuff do its thing.

Everything seemed so small on my screen that I was having a hard time seeing what was going on, but by the end of the first mission I was getting used to it.

I don't recall seeing a save function or a resolution option.  I'd like to be able to zoom in a little closer to the action.

The game manual on saving/loading:
Quote
Your progress is automatically saved between missions. You have a number of
lives at your disposal per each mission. If you die, you will be respawned in
some place safe but one life is lost. If your respawn count drops below zero, its
game over and you have to reload the mission again. When you complete a
mission, your game is saved to your Profile. You can load any of the already
completed missions from the Load Game menu.

Ah, okay, I played a little tonight and discovered that there is a separate Setup Launcher that you can run to configure video options.  You can access the Setup when you right-click on the game in Steam.

I tweaked the resolution to match my LCD and it is much easier to see what's going on.

I've been playing Shadowground Survivor and IMO it's definitely worth $5 as is the original Shadowground. Just in case anyone here isn't aware, both Shadowgrounds are available on Gametap. So if you think you'll play both within a month, you could play them for the cost of a $9 monthly subscription fee.
