Officemax has the hard drive on sale for $59.99, no rebates.

Circuit City has it on sale for $109.99 with $70 in rebates.

If you price match at Circuit City, it's $59.99 - $5.00 = $54.99.  If you then send off for the rebates (which are available online), it's $54.99 - $70.00 = $-15.01.

Might be worth trying.

It's an ATA100 drive for those interested in the details.

I was going to give it a shot until I found out it wasn't SATA smile

I am going to try and score a pair tomorrow.  Gotta find an unwitting accomplice to help me avoid the "limit 1" listed on the web site.  I wonder if the store would let me buy more than one.

I was just looking for an inexpensive drive to drop in another external USB case I had here.  Score!

I bought the last one from Office Max and then price-matched two more from Best Buy.  480GB for @$180?  Can't beat that!

Not sure why I needed them, but I couldn't pass up the price.  Plus it was the "thrill of the hunt."  I finished Xmas shopping long ago so I wanted a reason to be out and about amongst the rabble today and experience the madness.

I'm actually using them as external drives and placing them in removable drive cages.  Pretty sweet, except now I can't figure out which drive is which since I have five identical caddies. Tongue

I gotta say my FDISK adventure was a long one.  Couldn't get it to work as a USB drive and there is no room in my mini-pc case for another drive. My other system has no floppy drive.  So...  I finally found my XP CD to make the partitions and then formatted them in the USB enclosure.  Life is good.  480 more gigs free!

HUGE thanks for the heads-up, Zarkon!

No problem.  It puts me up to 280 gigs, which is fine until I do the serious upgrade I'm hoping to do, which'll put me at 500 (at least).

It sure is a pain in the ass to reinstall everything though (as I replaced my system drive with it).
