GoG has revealed their big surprise - most of their games are on sale.  The sale runs through January 3, but according to a post at NeoGAF,

Yeah, this one put a bigger dent in my wallet than I wanted to spend.  BG 1& 2, Icewind Dale 1, Gobliiins pack, Megarace 1 & 2, Raptor.  Still, only around $30, so not too bad, all told, but a lot for a bunch of games I'll never play!

I'm not sure what I want. I want BG1 & 2, because I hate switching discs. But I also want Planescape. And Age of Wonders. And Neverwinter Nights (still never played it!). And Stronghold. And Psychonauts.

If I get ALL of them, I will have an angry Mexican woman locking me out of my room for weeks.

Whoah, Neverwinter Nights Diamond for $7 - now that's a lot of gaming goodness per dollar! If I didn't already have Platinum I'd go for it.  I'm going to pony up for BG2 Complete, HOMM3 and Stronghold Crusader.

I have NWN Diamond but I'm thinking of grabbing It again just so I don't need the disc in the drive.

Okay great sale. But, like many of you I can load my cart with a bunch of games. I want to know WHICH games from you haul  you think you will ACTUALLY play. It will help my buying decision. I never got through BG2 back in the day and NWN - I think I played the original game.  But I am not sure which titles on this monster list I would really get too!

Yup, I'm tempted to do the same. In fact that's exactly what I'm doing with BG2. slywink

It's fairly rare now that I buy a game I don't actually play -even cheap classics from sites like GOG. I've been looking to replay BG2 for some time, but haven't been able to locate my disc 2 - so that's a for sure. I dove in for 2 copies of HOMM3 so my son and I can play vs on our home LAN. We'll do the same with the 2 copies of Stronghold Crusader I got. I've previously bought 18 other games from GOG and other than Divine Divinity I've completed them all - that RPG just didn't do it for me. Despite their dated graphics and sound, it's easy for me to get engrossed in them and finish them, no doubt due to the fact that so many of them were AAA titles in their day.

Why did you say that? Now I am going to have to pull the trigger on a few. Damn it!  icon_wink Since graphics are still fairly important- which holds up better NWN or BG2? I think there are mods for BG2?

I grabbed about $30 worth, including both Baldur's Gates (I'd already gotten Planescape), Temple of Elemental Evil, both Darkfalls, Journeyman Project 2, and Uru complete.  I have a week and a half off between Christmas and New Year's with literally nothing to do.  I think I may see how far I can get through the two Baldur's Gate games in that time.

That's tough to answer, since they both released within 1 year of one another. NWN probably has a slight edge in the graphics department, but BG2 would definitely best it in terms of quality of story, characters and overall gameplay. In fact, IMO BG2 should be played at least once by any serious RPG fan. You could argue the same for NWN, but to a lesser extent. I know there's a widescreen mod for BG2, but I haven't checked out anything else. If you're only going to play 1 of them, the nod goes to BG2.

I haven't purchased much from GoG before but figured with these prices might as well get some of the games. So picked up:

Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic (had 1 and 2 but never this one)
Waxworks (Forgot about this game! Had it on the Amiga. Now they just need to get the Elvira games)
Realms of Arkania 1-3 (Had them all but likely not going to dig around trying to find these discs)
Another World (Figure I'd try the enhanced version finally)
Temple of Elemental Evil (still have the CD around somewhere but figure its going to be a pain to get working)
Outcast (ditto on above comment)

Really hope they get the Elvira games. I remember those as actually being pretty good.

don't forget the Atari sale ends soon.  I pared down my cart quite a bit, I figure by the time the next holiday sale rolls around I'll have cleared enough of my backlog to get the rest.

ok, I almost managed to type that without laughing.  Anyways, my haul as it stands:

King's Quest 1+2+3
King's Quest 4+5+6
King's Quest 7+8
Phantasmagoria 2
Phantasmagoria
Gabriel Knight 3: Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
Gabriel Knight 2: The Beast Within
Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura
Arx Fatalis
Independence War 2: Edge of Chaos
POSTAL 2 Complete
Icewind Dale 2 Complete
Icewind Dale Complete
Temple of Elemental Evil
Baldur's Gate 2 Complete

Depending on the Steam sale I may add some more to it.
