Your link was truncated...you may want to redo it with the {url=}Paint Shop Pro{/url} (with brackets instead) so that people can actually find it.

They still seem to be selling it elsewhere.  Why are they giving it away free?

It comes from Corel, the company that makes it, so I doubt they would be distributing a virus.  Still, I'd like to read more about why they are doing it.

I'm trying to find something about the download, but am coming up totally empty.

Still downloading though. I'm completely without a decent image editor right now.

I'm currently using PSP 8.  I have also been looking for info.  I haven't seen any mention on my usual tech haunts, nor on the Corel site.  Let me know if you find anything.

I also know nothing about it other than people on slickdeals said it worked perfectly.

I have no idea why corel would offer it for free though.

Hmm... I haven't used Paintshop Pro seriously since version 5 (as work supplies Photoshop now), but it was a nice little program back then.  If this is legit, it's quite a deal.

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but you can download (for free) the full version of Paint Shop Pro 9 for a 30 day trial.

After that point, you have to pay for it.

I very highly doubt they're giving this program away for free. I'm guessing that all Slickdeals found was the direct download link, as you have to register just to download the program in the first place.

Darn, Destructor beat me to the punch.  Here's a link to Corel's main page:

http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=Corel3/Products/Display&pfid=1047024307383&pid=1047023911984&trkid=pspgoogle&trkid=14308578

Also here's a link to the trial.  It's a full version, yes, but it has 30 days of use on it, after which you must pay:

The file linked is the real deal.  Its the full electronic version, and not the trial version.

He's right. I installed it. There is no 30-day trial period here.

It doesn't have any disabled features or anything either.

Uh...holy cow. Something tells me that link was not supposed to be available for public download then. PSP has always been a good moneymaker for the company, so why give it out for free?
