I don't get how companies do this, never seems to be any extra ads or anything. Anyways, thanks!

Because the more people that read the magazine, the more they can charge companies to advertise on their pages (or, the more likely companies will be willing to pay more for ads on those pages). Each reader of the magazine is "worth" something to the publisher, regardless of whether they pay for a subscription.

Man I have the free sub again to EGM and it is probably the worst gaming mag I've ever read. It's TERRIBLE.
Edit: After having 12 seconds to reconsider, EGM is probably the 2nd worst gaming mag I've ever read. PCGamer would be the first.

Maybe that's why they give it away for free I enjoy it though, they have some good interviews in each issue as well as in-depth previews. Seriously, a few issues ago I was blown away by their preview of the upcoming Street Fighter game, it was massive.

I signed up at work, got home and found the first issue from the last offer had finally arrived. I wonder if this means I'll get 2 copies or if they'll just ignore it.

I just figured they'd toss some extra ads for the saps who actually get it for free, but I don't think that's the case.

I'd definitely say that GamePro is the worst. Have you read that? I get EGM, and I enjoy getting it for free. I sure as hell wouldn't pay for it. The only one I would pay for at the moment is Game Informer, surprisingly enough. I'm also a fan of Games for Windows, though PC game releases are starting to get few and far between. Luckily, GFW is free for me as well.

More spam crap in my yahoo.mail Thanks KD... This is why you have a secondary free email account to use for signing up for everything on the internet. It's not like this is a new phenomenon.

This doesn't seem to be open to Canadians. I love EGM, but I can't justify paying an extra $2 an issue when our dollar is at par. Btw EGM, removing the U.S. price from the barcode a couple months back didn't make us magically forget that we're getting screwed. Ok, enough of that. I do remember finding a link for a subscription for EGM where it worked out to a dollar an issue or something and was open to Canadians....I meant to sign up and kept it on my compy for a while....until IE crashed and I lost it (have since smartened up and moved to Firefox). Anyway, if anyone knows where that link is, I'd really appreciate it.
