Last year I was up at 4:00 am to get to Best buy early. I was there at 5:00am and there was 100 people in front of me. They opened at 6:00 or 7:00.
Had great deals. ati 9600 pro was $50 . free ups and cdrw. Had an 80G HD for $30. Luckly most people were after the music tvs dvds and radios.

I vowed never to go to Fry's (Houston) again on Black Friday. They had some great deals, but the crowd was insane. Less than 30 minutes after they opened, they had to stop letting people in due to fire code restrictions. Then people had to wait until others left for an equal number to be let in. Even with their 70+ cashiers, the check out line stretched several times the length of the store and wrapped all the way around to the back. Imagine Disney World when the great new ride has mechanical problems.
Of course, the best deals were sold out before most people even made it into the store. If you went, it was almost guaranteed to take up about half your Black Friday. I think I'll stick to the internet.

I was at Fry's last year. It actually turned out to be a great trip. We knew we would be there for several hours (probably over 4  ) and all that time was spent standing in line. All you do is go get in line and do all your shopping when the line passes by the entire store.

The best place to look for Black Friday ads, IMHO, is fatwallet.com. But be aware, they had to take them down last year because some of the major chains complained.

The only thing about all these deals is that in order to get them you have to be at the store by 4:00am.

thats why people want to know the deals in advance- you buy beforehand, then just go to the store w/ your receipt and request a refund of the price difference.

The problem with that is a vast majority of the deals (especially at Best Buy) are based on rebates. Those rebates are only available on a first come/first serve basis.

Actually, the items are usually 1st come/1st serve, not the rebates. However, they do sometimes have instore "coupons" they use instead of rebates and these run out...

Looks like that BF site has EB's deals up. Doom 3 for $19.99 is very tempting but I might pass and get CoD: UO instead.

Does anyone know if that Toys'R'Us deal is still going on that let you buy 2 games and get 1 free? I remember hearing about it but dont' know if it was a limited offer. I was surprised to hear Toys'R'us brought up...reminds me of when I was younger and I went to buy sega games and then get GI Joe Figures.... sorry I am rambling.
