WTF!
According to that link, this laptop - http://www.blackfriday.info/item/1571 from Circuit City is only $499.
The problem? I just bought it today at $749.99..  mad

Anyone know if I can bring my reciept back in on black friday and ask them to credit me back $250? Or is that just wishful thinking?

Not too sure but I think that they have a price match policy that if they put it on sale within the next 30 days then they credit you back 110% of the difference.  You might just want to stop in and ask because if that is the case it might be worth it to buy something in advance and take your reciept back in and say hey this went on sale give me my money and not have to stand in lines.  Just a thought.

Actually the one you linked to (the Acer) is listed as $599.99 now.

You should be able to do that.  In the past when I've got a heads up on good Black Friday deals I'll head to the store the week of and go ahead and pick up the items.  Then I just show up about 10 am on Friday morning, long after they've sold out but while the sale is still technically in effect, and stand in the customer service line (which is usually empty compared to the registers) and get my price match.

I went in the BB and CC and asked and they said that if it was something that was in the 5 hour sale then they wouldn't price match it.  They said that if it was something that they put on sale outside of that time then they would match it.  They also said that they wouldn't match competitors on that day because some of the sales are just too ridicules

Well that's fucked up. I wonder if it's still worth a shot though, $150 is a decent amount of money.

What are you talking about?! They have some GREAT steals at EB for black friday!

Xbox 360 Intercooler - $19.99
WWE Smackdown RAW 2007 (PS2) - $49.99
SOCOM: Combined Assault (PS2) - $39.99
PSP System w/ ATV Offroad Fury Blazin Trails Game, Lords of Dogtown UMD Movie and 1GB Memory Card - $249.99
Need for Speed: Carbon (Xbox 360) - $59.99
FEAR (PS3) - $59.99

How can you beat EB/Gamestop when other stores are offering games at half price and below?  icon_biggrin

I think the Intercooler is the clincher.   Nothing better than a device that is designed to cool your 360 but makes it overheat instead. biggrin

The EB games things suck because they don't reveal the specials until the wednesday before Thanksgiving, on top of that Gamestop has gone all SS on their employees and are actually firing folks for leaking any kind of information. They've gotten really strict about this stuff. The one guy I like to talk to at my local GS takes it all very seriously because he actually likes being a manager...

We will find out what EB is blowing out on Black Friday by the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. They were trying to be like this last year but it leaked way early. Same thing for the day after christmas deals they do. They don't want anyone getting the jump on them.

Some of the TV's seem like decent deals, I'd like a 20 some inch HDTV LCD and I may even get one of the junk PCs because my laptop is now over 3 years old and I can be more efficient on a desktop. I also plan on grabbing a serious sattelite setup or two for my wife's christmas present and one for me because I drive over 100 miles everyday. One great thing about my wife's birthday being November 28th is that I can normally take advantage of the Black Friday deals and get her some extra stuff for the same se budget.

It'll leak. It always leaks. It's just a matter of time (concerning EB/Gamestop).

Hmmm... I think I'll price match my NWN2 if it's a couple day sale.  Other than that, It would have to be a pretty sweet deal to get me somewhere early enough to get the deal.

Err, what's Black Friday?

Day after Thanksgiving.  A bunch of already-angry people will line up before God wakes up and demand that they save 37 cents on whatever the hell they are buying.  If you are a retail employee, your job is to stand in one place without breaks for a 12 hour day and just run the register.  You'll do more business on this day than almost any other, and you'll seriously question your will to live.  smile

I'd rather pay twice as much for an item than brave crowds the day after Thanksgiving...  I'm not a fan of the malls, especially not when crowded.

This year I already bought one gift amazingly enough; I hope to do 95% of all my shopping online (though who am I kidding, I'll end up putting things off and be running out on the 24th again).

According to the Best Buy scan they have the Samsung on Fri/Sat so not a door buster, unless they run out. (no rainchecks)

Model is 931BW and reg price is $249.99

Also note they have a Westinghouse 22" for $199.99, regular $500.00.  (also Fri/Sat)  Model is LCM-22W2

I've seen a lot of oblique references to Gamestop's Black Friday stuff, but here's link to the actual ad...
http://www.gamestop.com/gs/weeklyad/upcoming/
(can download a PDF from there)

The tiny PC sales selection is buried away back:
http://www.gamestop.com/gs/weeklyad/upcoming/p9.aspx
Left for Dead 2, $29.99 ($20 off)
Guild Wars Trilogy, $24.99 (50% off)
WoW, $4.99 (for 2 days)

My local Gamestops have hardly any PC game display space anymore, but they do seem to keep titles in stock.

They're also giving extra credit on trade-ins, so I might bring in a few old DS and PSP titles for yucks. I still have a ton of PS2 stuff, but I don't imagine I can get more than pocket change, if that.

I think the Dell "Early Bird" sale that had L4D2 at the same price has ended, last I checked.

Err, what's Black Friday?

It's called Black Friday because it's the day that retailers' P&L statements go into the black ink. In reality, Black Friday stopped being the busiest day of the year many years ago when its reputation for crowds became established; only really hardcore consumers venture out on that day. For their trouble, big spenders can find end-of-season discount prices early in the season, before the merchandise is all picked over.

My store does >40% of its annual business in November and December, but neither Black Friday nor Cyber Monday are particularly special. I will nonetheless be swept up in the hype...Curio City's newsletter subscribers and facebook fans will get a discount code good for free shipping this weekend.
