Just hit Bestbuy.com and do a search for Babylon 5 (this link may or may not work or you) and you'll find all 5 seasons for the low, low price of $19.99 each (instead of $59.98). I think it's time I picked up the series on DVD...

It is at this point that I admit that I've watched exactly zero episodes of Babylon 5. *shrug* Just never caught it.

Me either until a year ago. It starts off cheesy in the first season but then ramps up pretty quickly. Start from the beginning. Trust me, you'll love it.

The first season is a bit rough but no worse than the first season of Star Trek The Next Generation. It really takes off after that. It is my favorite Science Fiction series of all time. Really good stuff. I payed full price for all the seasons and I don't regret it a bit.

Okay, that's it - I'm jumping on this. I have nothing but good memories from this (although I do have to admit - I started at season 2). An excellent series where most episodes DO have something to do with the overall plot. Very rarely were there standalone episodes.

Hmm, I'm currently re-watching at my friend's house already... but so cheap... and he'd be so jealous compared to what he paid... must resist

I might have to borrow a season or two from you Tim - see if it 'fits' for me.

Is this online only or can I go into the store and pick them up... soooo tempted. Pay no attention to the fact that I have yet to watch the 3 seasons of Stargate SG1 that I bought over a year ago.

In store price is $19.99 as well. Thanks for the heads up, Destructor. Too good a deal to pass up.
Now, if they'd just work in my DVD player...

SUMMON A BISCUIT! I just paid $200 at Fry's for all 5 seasons.
Must go grab an ad and see if I can get them to price match.
Wish me luck... --Aahz

Woot! Fry's dropped the price to $18.99 per season, and they honored their new price when I took back the set.
so I picked up God of War II also.

No biggie. They'd probably just join my Stargate SG1 collection in the 'never watched, but hey I have them' pile.

Best Buy's sale is over but Fryes may still be going on. The Fry's Electronics deal lasts through the end of today. And it is in-store only (no outpost.com for you!).

bah! I wish they had used better holders for the DVD's. I've opened up all 4 seasons and 7 of the discs got loose at some point and got scratched up Now I'm debating which would be easier, having them taken back or paying a couple of bucks for each one to be resurfaced. If you had them shipped and haven't opened them yet you may want to check them even if it doesn't sound like anythings loose on the inside. Only one of the cases made a rattling sound but all 4 had at least 1 DVD loose.

OK, so far the scratches haven't effected anything, but, wow, visually B5 does not hold up well on big screen TV's. Apparently anything CGI was shot with a 4X3 TV in mind, so when it gets stretched for the enhanced widescreen that the non-cgi parts of the series was filmed for it looks pretty bad.

Yeah it is unfortunate. The plan was to re-render everything later on when 16:9 would be commonplace but unfortunately someone deleted all of the files so the only way to fix it now would be to redo all of the effects and that just isn't going to happen.
