If you've never heard her, I can sum her up in one sentence: Tori Amos without the rape.  Talented and often very amusing songwriter.

This one was a few days ago but just spent some time listening to it. The first few songs I was like WTF as there's some odd lyrics and melody changes. But as I continued I got in to it and looked forward to those quirky moments in her songs. When I finished I had to listen to it again.  Very unique - and I like the accent.

I'd say she sounds a bit more like Bijork than Tori Amos, especially with her lyrics but she definitely has the Tori flavor with the piano. Her myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/reginaspektor) has a bunch of song selections but only one off this album (Us) which happens to be one of my favorites from it. 

I ended up buying her other album that has some odd stuff but looks like she went more current ditching the piano for a more traditional pop/rock sound in many of her songs. It's not bad but a bit different than this one. I was a bit annoyed at Amazon for not making the Prince Caspian song a single download as I'd like to get that too but I can live without.
