Hmm, I'm tempted to buy the Rascal Flatts album... but I'm dissapointed by the $4.99 pricepoint for a MP3 Daily Deal so I'll hold off.

Van Halen II by Van Halen

for $2.99 I think I'll grab this one when I get home, even if it's VH without Hagar.

and there are 5 different albums up for 5 bucks each, including a bluegrass album by.... Steve Martin?

Why the question mark? Steve Martin is a banjo god. He was the host on SNL recently and he got to play a song from his new album with his band. It was so much better than the actual musical guest.

I did not know that, I forgot to check it out and figured it was a spoof album.

Yeah Steve Martin is not an actor turned musician. He's a musician (and comedian) from way back turned actor. He's probably been banjo'ing 40+ years.

Courtesy of this C|Net article comes news of 763 free songs (article says 770, only 763 on the sort list).

I love Amazon's concept of release date for an album originally released in 1977:

Quote
Original Release Date: August 21, 2006
Release Date: October 12, 1999

Obviously it was originally released 7 years after this release...?   retard

If you've never heard her, I can sum her up in one sentence: Tori Amos without the rape.  Talented and often very amusing songwriter.

This one was a few days ago but just spent some time listening to it. The first few songs I was like WTF as there's some odd lyrics and melody changes. But as I continued I got in to it and looked forward to those quirky moments in her songs. When I finished I had to listen to it again.  Very unique - and I like the accent.

I'd say she sounds a bit more like Bijork than Tori Amos, especially with her lyrics but she definitely has the Tori flavor with the piano. Her myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/reginaspektor) has a bunch of song selections but only one off this album (Us) which happens to be one of my favorites from it.

I ended up buying her other album that has some odd stuff but looks like she went more current ditching the piano for a more traditional pop/rock sound in many of her songs. It's not bad but a bit different than this one. I was a bit annoyed at Amazon for not making the Prince Caspian song a single download as I'd like to get that too but I can live without.
