I can't get this to install because MS Live won't update properly. This seems to relate to a lot of things not being able to update like Java and Zune. I'm not really sure what the problem is with Win7. I have full Admin control and these updates constantly say they have trouble finding the network resource.

Same here.  The install stalls at 34% every time, and won't go any further.  This is my first GFWL experience, and I can't say I'm impressed.

It downloaded fine for me, but stalls out on the install.  Good luck.

Installed fine for me, but the update nuked my GFWL offline saves in Batman, DOW2 and GTA4.  Hooray.  10 cents and 10 hours worth of saves.  I expect it's probably not going to be worth it.  I can't believe how awful GFWL is.

It's really weird that they do a deal like this and then make people use the client instead of their new website marketplace.  You'd think they would want this to be an introduction to the new stuff they just launched.

for those of you with the game, you may run into the step where it asks you for your cd key (on the back of the manual, the installer proudly says!).  here's where it is under GFW

you need to sign into your gfw, go to downloads, then click the cd icon, and there is a view key tab below it.

It installed just fine on my system and I had no issues with the key.  Not sure why others are having issues, on mine it went pretty smoothly.  It really sucks that it wiped someones saves in other games.  Thats a serious bug if that happened, you may want to contact thier support, those save might be recoverable.    Good Luck to anyone who tries this, its beginning to sound like a perverse internet version of russian roulette.  Im glad I just heard a click and no boom.

it's not bad and tbh, even if it was a steam crazy sale for $5, i doubt i would even bother as i already have good rts games to play.  but for a dime, i am more than willing to give it a try.

played for an hour or so and it reminds me that i need to brush up on my hotkeys as it wasn't long before i was getting swarmed by the other team. 

the meta game is unusual and i wonder how deep it is.

Sorry I read the thread title wrong as Empire Earth 3 instead of Age of Empires 3. The AoE games are great . i went ahead and bought it. Its stuck at 42% installed now and wants a CD key...which i dont have or know where to get

wow,  I dl'd it installed it and played it for a couple of hours with no issues what so ever.  After hearing all the horror stories here I am amazed that it went so well for me and Im a bit scared theres some time delayed BSOD waiting just around the corner.

To recap what I posted at an OOther site.

1) I logged in using old account I used to get the Fallout 3 DLC (that's another horror story I've already posted elsewhere) and it told me to manually go to xbox.com and accept the new privacy terms there.
2) I put item in cart and tried to check out, but it wouldn't let me add my credit card because it "already existed"- but it didn't list or have anyway to update/view/edit that card.
3) I had to go to xbox.com and log in again, find my account info, find the credit card and realize it had expired since the last time I used it here.  I put in the new expiration date and magically the GfWL site can see my card and will let me use it.
4) Finally I buy it, and download it and install it and now it's stuck at 42% asking for a CD key that can be found "on the back of the CD packaging".  No CD key is listed in the GfWL thingy under "view game keys"

Ok just got off the phone with them. The reason some of us dont have a cd key listed is they sold out. He said they did not expect it to be such a huge hit even at 10 cents and they over sold. Said they should have new keys within a week and it will show up in the client where it should when they get them. So i just stopped my install and will have to wait. Even he didn't get one.

He also said that info on this will be updated on the forums so you can check there for more news.

If you click "Cancel" instead of "Resume", it should allow you to download it again.  That's what I did after each time it crashed.

The "cancel" trick successfully got it downloading again, but w/o fail, it crashes sometime within the first 15 minutes of downloading.

I think I can say w/o reservation that I much prefer Steam.
