just found instructions for this on gotapex.com # Click though the following link to the Dell Home Dimension 8400. Dell Home# The base price is $1099. You have to add $400 more to the configuration to use the coupon. You can choose whatever you want, but here`s what we`d suggest: * 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x512M) [add $130 or $4/month] * 160GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) [add $40 or $1/month] * Single Drive: 16X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability [add $90 or $3/month] * 128MB PCI Express™ x16 (DVI/VGA/TV-out) ATI Radeon™ X800 SE [add $180 or $5/month] # Scroll to the bottom and click on Continue # Scroll to the bottom and click on Continue # Scroll to the bottom and click on Add To Cart # Use coupon code: Q6Z3T$8MHM?7F1 for the $500 off $1499+ Dimension desktop purchase. Expires exactly at 10/25/04 11:00pm CST. Be sure to choose 2nd day shipping, since it`s free (just like ground shipping)

Holy cow. It's worth it just for the 19' LCD practically. The rest of the stuff is just the icing on the cake. I could always use a second PC...

Man, it's driving me crazy trying to price a competitive system.... it's really hard to do! And getting it in a nice package...boy is this tempting.

Hmmm. Why are they charging me sales tax all of a sudden? I live in Michigan for what that's worth.

No idea on the sales tax, though they socked me with it too.
I couldn't resist, so I caved and got a system as above but I bumped the CPU to 3.2, and added the cheap-o speakers that hang from the monitor. Final price including tax was just a hair under $1300. As much as I was psyched to build a machine, this deal was just too good to pass up.

I'm seriously considering this deal, but is the 19 inch LCD monitor good enough for quality gaming? I would only use this rig for gaming.

I won't say they are fast at Dell but I ordered a system last night around 10:30 PM and as of 6:30 PM the next day it's... SHIPPED! I am even seeing UPS tracking numbers and all that... that's insane!

Or...... http://www.detnews.com/2004/technology/0408/23/a01-251000.htm"The state Department of Treasury hopes to coax online firms into voluntarily collecting Michigan sales tax after Sept. 1, when it unveils a new tax code that shares definitions, forms and due dates with the 20 other states, including Indiana, Texas and Nevada." and "Even with next month’s changes in Michigan, some Internet shopkeepers say they still won’t collect sale taxes until they’re forced to do so." and “We will comply with state requirements when the system is simplified and applied across the board, not just some states,” said Patty Smith, spokeswomen for online retailer Amazon.com.
