I always chuckle at these smartphone "deals" and the fools who might actually buy them never bothering to figure out that the vast majority of the cost is the 2 years at $70 a month you will spend using it.

But what would you do otherwise? I hate being locked in but I'm not going to get the same thing cheaper anywhere else so why not at least get a free phone out of it?

Oh and 3GS for free? That friggen blows balls. The iPhone 4 has been free in Japan for customers signing a two year contract since the very first day it was out.

Get the best out there at the time since the overall price difference at the end of the 2 years is very small. Saving a few bucks up front for an outdated product that your stuck with for 2 years is just kinda dumb to me.
