The seamless way they integrate the multiplayer invasions is pretty slick.  I didn't think I'd ever enjoy this type of multiplayer, but at least in this game I really like it.

One time I had just finished a mission on a remote island, and I was driving back over the bridge to get to town.  Just as I crossed the bridge, a car came toward me going the other direction.  In retrospect, duh, it's another player, but I had been invasionless for hours so I just figured the AI driver was trying to cross the bridge I just put into place.  I drove on past the car to go about my business, and then comes the hacking notification.  Realization.  Facepalm.  U-turn, rush back to the car, hop out to shoot it, he starts to flee, I shoot out his tires and give chase, he drives out of the hacking zone, I wait for him to turn around and come back, shooty shooty I win.  Super fun.

It's an older title, but I just picked up Cook, Serve, Delicious! and I'm completely addicted to it.  The more freeform way you can progress through the game, choosing your own new foods, food upgrades, and equipment, is a welcome change compared to the super structured way most time management games have you advance.  If you've ever enjoyed a Sally's Spa type game, I highly recommend it.

I'm guessing the answer is no, but is there any chance there's a way for backers to access this for free?

Actually I hadn't gotten to the MP content yet, I'm still working on the SP side missions.

I'm using a 360 controller on a PC which has been working pretty good for me. I did this on AC4 as well so I'm comfortable with it. Driving is getting better for me as I get used to the wonky handling. I'm four hours in and still just getting used to using the hacking features.

If you were indeed talking about the "stop a crime" side missions, you're probably overthinking how to do them.  I also had trouble at first just because the game does such a poor job explaining how you're supposed to handle them.  All you have to do is turn on your profiling app (so you see people's names and occupations) and be close enough to the criminal or victim to get them highlighted in yellow.  Be close enough to keep them highlighted in yellow, but far enough and out of sight so you don't get a yellow caution triangle filling up over their head.  Hang out until something starts to happen, the yellow "crime probability" bar will fill up, and when it turns red, pull out your gun.  Shoot if you want to, but pulling out the gun is enough to make the bad guy flee, then you can chase him down for a nonlethal takedown.

Sweet mercy "Inside" is just about the most impossible game title to search for on Google.

I'm still having problems with the on-foot fixer missions; I keep getting spotted before anything happens, but I think that's due to me not being stealthy enough.

Do you mean the multiplayer fixer missions where you have to trail someone, or the missions like "watch the potential victim/criminal and stop a crime?"

Is there anyplace that has a recording of the Sony conference, or does that kind of thing take a while to show up?

The Halo collection looks awesome. I disagree that it's just a simple greatest hits package - the ability to play any level or any multiplayer map from any title at any time using customized playlists is really, really cool.

Can you help me understand why that feature is exciting?  There's a good chance I'll buy this collection at some point, but when I do I'm pretty sure I'll play each title in order, starting at the start and ending at the end.

BTW, no mention, whatsoever of Kinect.

No direct mention, but there were several Kinect games shown.  There was Dance Central and Fantasia from Harmonix, some (mild) integration in Fable, and one of the clips in the indie showcase had some kind of full body tracking central to the gameplay.  Probably was a smart move for them to avoid directly talking about it.

Ori and Inside caught my eye more than anything.  I'm also happy Phantom Dust is coming back, but it's hard to get excited without any gameplay shown.

The Division does look great, and I'm sure it'll be fun, but these fake "live" gameplay sessions are not exciting to me.

Is the character interplay dialogue in-game or is it supposed to be the players talking to each other?

So MS is just showing games that will be available on the system, not anything unique to the system?

Isn't there supposed to be a major exclusive?

They've had XB1 exclusives, some XB1 + PC, and some fully multiplat games.

Oh, and a helluva lot of "first on XB1" stuff.  I guess timed exclusives are becoming a big part of their strategy.

Is the open world animal hunting the core of the gameplay, or just a side quest thing they're highlighting?  I really hope the former, mythical animal hunting with random other encounters?  Sounds really fun & unique.

Would you ever tell someone "if you like Infamous, you're going to like Watch Dogs", or vice versa?

I find it particularly interesting how every single one of you has avoided answering this question, rhetorical or not. No, not interesting. Telling.

Sure, yeah.  I'd make that recommendation.  My brother-in-law pretty much exclusively plays open world games nowadays, and he's likely about to buy a PS4 and buy one or the other.  When he finishes one, I will in fact very likely recommend the other.

Sonic and Super Mario play extremely different too, right?  Different genres?

Now for the million dollar question you're dodging...

152  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [E3 2012] Watch Dogs on: June 08, 2014, 09:18:00 PM
I decided to play this before Infamous for just that reason -- I'm expecting to like Infamous much better.

That said, I think I'm enjoying Watch Dogs a lot more than the folks above. I'm a bit past halfway in the campaign, and I'd agree it's not the most compelling protagonist and that the story is a bit of a mess. But if you check your critical palate at the door a bit and just run with it like a summer action movie, it's not too hard to squint your eyes a bit and pretend the story makes sense.

Being a vigilante good guy is a nice change from GTA -- you're still stealing cars and doing other bad stuff... but with heart! slywink I'm enjoying the invasion multiplayer style way more than I expected to, both on offense and on defense. I also really like the freedom I feel I have in how I approach missions and side missions. Most of the time I don't feel on rails, and I can choose my own balance of stealth, hacking, and shooty shooty.

I really respect review sites with good and plainly stated transparency policies.  Just state up front whether or not you got money to feature Bubble Witch.  Problem solved.

In addition to pop-up ads, I've been getting a lot of redirects in the last few weeks that lead to another site and then to the iTunes store for various stupid games.  I'll bring up GT and before I can even click on a subforum I find I'm at the store page for a game.  This is with Chrome on an iPhone.

They are promoting an event called Marvel Heroes 2015, which I really don't quite understand the significance.  I mean why is "2015" starting in the middle of 2014?

You overslept and missed 2,013 sequels.
