Holy crap. In. In. In. In. Cannot wait. This looks like pure, unadulterated sheer lunacy and I cant wait. If its half as funny as the third one, then we're in business. That looks awesome.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Where the best place to buy a Samsung Note 2?

Was looking to buy one this weekend and switch off my iPhone but wasnt sure of the best place to go. Mainly because I trust the Best Buy monkeys about as far as I can throw them. That being said, the AT&T stores havent exactly earned my trust either.
Wanted to check people's opinions on this and see if there is a consensus view as to where the best place to pick one up is. Yes ATT is my carrier.

For those interested, the entirety of The West Wing is now available. Fabulous series. Seasons 1-4 are terrific and the best writing Aaron Sorkin has ever done, IMO. Season 5 is aimless and just wanders all over the map, but season 6 picks up with a strong energy. But once the campaign gets going in earnest about 3/4 of the way through season 6, every episode from then until the end becomes a must-watch. Terrific, highly entertaining series.

Goddamn steam winter sale. Totally didnt need to pick up a few gems for cheap. NOT AGAIN! And why did they have to throw in Far Cry 3 for $37?!?!?!
In short, my 2013 backlog is already packed and won't get sorted properly due to baby #2 hitting in April.

Finally beat it on Wednesday which was wild considering I was completely delirious from the flu at the time. I felt like I was clinging to consciousness while fighting the Warrior. Made the ending just bizarre, which oddly fits in with the overall gameplay. Loads of fun and a better ending than the first game had. I do think I'm going to take a break before going again with the Gunzerker who, for the record, is awesome.

Are the pilots called Jaegermeisters?
no, but they have the moves like jaeger. Winner. I'm with Tilt. I like the idea of the movie, but I'm not the biggest del Toro fan. His movies have the most lackadaisical pacing and even when he's building to a big finish, I get no sense of tension at all. I'm holding out hope though. Remember, no one was impressed by the Man of Steel teaser and the internet asploded all over itself when the new one hit this week.

Is anybody in Dallas actually from Dallas?
Yes. And the traffic has only managed to get worse over the last several years. Also, ATB, are you still here? If so, let me know if you want to snag lunch. Otherwise, I hope your trip wasn't too crazy. Oh, and for the record, Houston is the worst. Take all the crazy traffic and add in miles upon miles of road construction and endless congestion.

I encountered the necro-thrall quest last night and loved it. Not going into spoilers for those who havent made it yet, but getting to fight those "particular" monsters with the glaive from Krull gave me a nerd boner so hard it punched through my desk. This game is awesome and hilarious too. Theres even a Silence of the Lambs joke that results in an awesome helmet/mask. This is just great.

I've played several levels now with all four classes and I'm in love. I'm not too impressed with the class skills available for the Berserker, but throwing some Wolverine style claws on him is awesome. My Outlander just rips stuff up as well, and the fact that you can level the weapon from Krull is hilarious to me.
Didn't play much with the embermage, but I loooove the engineer. So many ways to bring death and I can't wait to get the mechs later on. This game, put simply, is the best $20 buy out there. Totally worth every penny and I'm never touching the Diablo franchise again. This game is fast paced, gorgeous to look at, chock full of awesome loot, and genuinely fun to play.

Sleeping Dogs is the plan, though a second playthrough on Borderlands is awfully tempting. Know what else is tempting? Cranking up some olde schoole style platformers in Vessel and Trine 2. Been really curious about those for a while now and maybe this weekend is the time to try them out.

I agree with Eyes Wide Shut. I was knocked out by it at the time, but I don't think it's aged well. Plus I was in a poison relationship at the time which made things way more awkward than they already were. Pulp Fiction is another one (to piggyback on the Tarantino thread) that I loved for a long time, but that has not aged well in my opinion. Also, as many know, I never took to Blade Runner beyond appreciating the aesthetics. Seen it several times to make sure I wasn't crazy, but I still don't like it.
As for movies I hated the first time and never want to see again, Sin City is right at the top of the list. Just hated every second of that movie.

Note to how Netflix does streaming: When Tennent's run ended, they closed out the arc with the usual monster sized finale. The next ep starts with the new Doctor (Matt Smith). People who actually watched the show will notice there are three specials missing in between. The first special isn't on streaming though it's available on disc (nothing of note except he gets a prophesy which he repeats in the next special so you can skip it). The second special is Waters of Mars and the last one is The End of Time Parts 1 & 2. You need to watch those in that order prior to season 5. Like I said, you're a ways off but wanted to give you a heads up sooner rather than later. Also Blink is genuinely awesome. "You're not watching it either." The show did take me up to the "are you my mummy" two-parter to get into it. It's just so very British at the start before finding its own groove. The last several eps of season 1 are good, and personally I liked Eccleston in the role. I thought it was great watching him have so damn much fun for once in his life. Tennent is my favorite of the three newest Doctors and Smith has, frankly, worn out his welcome for me. I'm curious how they're going to wrap up the new season and whether or not he'll leave at the end of it. There's a rumor going 'round that fans are trying to get a campaign for Alexander Siddig (Dr. Bashir on Deep Space 9) to play the next Doctor. This would rule, IMO.

Reservoir Dogs stands, for me, as his best. I think Tarantino has gone to his own head with self indulgent fare, and I genuinely do not like Basterds. At. All. Liked Death Proof at the time I saw it, not so much a fan of it now (save the last half hour during the chase). In my opinion, he's so in love with his own voice that he's lost any sense of pacing that he had in Dogs and Fiction. He just goes on and on and on as though he's seeing just how long he can stretch something out to where it becomes unbearable, a fact he admitted to in an interview regarding the lunch scene in Basterds (where the evil Nazi and the girl meet and the Nazi prattles on for like 15 minutes solid). The scene did become unbearable, but not due to tension.
Anyway, that's my take on the man.

DVR'd it. I'm still in season 6 (last ep I watched was "Let's Kill Hitler") so I'm not quite up to par with everyone. Fantastic series though. Since this year is going to be shown in five episode increments, I'm going to watch them once I have each round DVR'd. As strange as it sounds, I'm actually much more of a Rory fan than an Amy fan. It probably stems from his nickname and how he earned it.

The Steam Summer Sale managed to completely blow up my backlog, which is now epic in size. But on the plus side I have enough gaming goodness for the next six months. At least.

Recently found out that RoboCop was screened a few weeks ago at the Dallas International Film Festival with Peter Weller in attendance. I did not sleep well that night, so great was my fury. Must pay closer attention to events in my town...

Picked this back up recently and it's consumed me. Why the hell did I never know the Mage was so massively overpowered? He's got this beam spell that simply kills every thing it touches. Max that out and throw in a steampunk golem as well and you are good to go. I love this game.

Wife and I watched Tucker & Dale vs. Evil last night. Fantastically funny. So glad we saw it.
Just watched this. Was laughing my head off within three minutes of starting it. Absolutely hilarious send-up of the horror genre. I think a double bill of this and Cabin in the Woods would be a nice way to spend an evening. It does a terrific inversion of the cabin in the woods/slasher genre and Alan Tudyk, as always, crushes it. The sequence with the wood chipper left me gasping for air. Really fun way to spend 90 minutes. Highly recommended.
