604  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Oblivion Preview... Release date? on: October 27, 2005, 09:19:46 PM
woohoo-- hopefully that date is real, but I do know that the developers have continually said it would be out for the holidays so it might just be spot-on

Good news about the system-- while I am running an AMD 2200, hopefully my 6600GT card will make up for the slack.

I assume that will at least have a good looking game at a fair fps...which is all i really want for christmas, well except for an iPod, a DS, a 360 and like 20 other games....

606  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [DS] Metroid Prime comes with... a rumble pack? on: October 20, 2005, 05:01:03 PM
Quote from: "DiscoJason"

If you read the impressions over at IGN about it, they say it's the loudest rumble pack they've ever heard   frown

Still.  A rumble pack for the DS?  I'm in!   biggrin

The sad part is that Penny Arcade also backs that claim up.  Nintendo has never done a poor rumble pack, so not sure why they decided to start now.  They both claim it sounds like a chirping.  I am sure that will be annoying.

Etoychest says this:  Anyway, talk seems to have begun flying around almost immediately about how loud the pack is while in use. I put Samus' adventures in pinball land through the paces today, and while it makes noise, it's nothing too distracting. In fact, with the music up (which is awesome, by the way), it really is quite easy to ignore.

And they have a recording so you can hear for your self-- the story link is:

And the good part of the DVD set is that they are in the correct order.  They were aired out of order for some stupidly stupid-ass FOX now you get all the episodes in the correct order.

Much better.

Fixed that for ya.

Thank you...much better now smile

612  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / The NHL is officially back TONIGHT! on: October 12, 2005, 12:18:57 AM
Link, I agree with you 100% about the goalie puck handling... skills.

As for the puck over the glass-- well it was always like that for the goalies but now new to the other players-- obviously it is to prevent delay of game - which is what the penalty is called now- and the players are now very aware of it.  At 1:30 left to play in the last Kings game, one of the players tossed one  over and just as it went over, you saw the look in his face... a big OH SHIT........

I bet in a month we don't see the penalty anymore than we do when goalies do it.  I hope  slywink

Good luck to the Sharks.... every year they seem so close to just breaking out and kicking everyone's butt....
613  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / The NHL is officially back TONIGHT! on: October 11, 2005, 11:42:12 PM
Lemme add, does everyone else agree that the changes for the most part are for the better?

I think they should have banned the defnsive trap a long time ago.. anyway it is now kinda out the window-- ohh and no red line!!!

Now, if the Kings can keep their goalies in check... and we can stay healthy, heck we look pretty good so far-- not much to play against yet but....

Man is it good to have hockey back.

Once again, it looks like it is gonna be hard to be a Kings fan.

ohhh, we got Bure... the BROTHER, yeah the guy with the attitude.. joy

Roenick... I love the guy but he may be a bit past his prime...

We signed Luc for a year because, well one thing we do love in LA is Luc...

Our goalie sitch is, uh, an issue, we did grab Frolov and a few others before they were scooped... but in the end, it seems like another "building for the future" year.. and sadly we have been doing that since we lost Gretzky.

That said, let me add:  WOOT, 30 DAYS TILL PRESEASON BABY!!
616  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Some Vampire: Bloodlines questions on: July 29, 2005, 07:25:12 PM
I was kinda suprised that I like it as much as I do...

BUT, be sure you apply BOTH patches-- install the official 1.2 patch from Troika AND the 1.5 fan patch as well- if you install both, just about all the bugs are finally covered.

Melee-- yup I agree- ranged, guns etc, is not my cup of tea-- i keep those weapons  for BF2... Melee seems the way to go.

I am Malk now.. I like playing an insane girl in a mini-skirt that has a girlfriend.. hehe

But, if I did another run thru, which i very well might, I think Tremere and magic is a really good way to go.
617  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Some Vampire: Bloodlines questions on: July 29, 2005, 05:26:34 PM
old topic yeah but it looks like the game is popping up at bargain prices.....

I had this on my shelf since Christmas and finally installed it last weekend- haven't stopped playing since.

With the official 1.2 patch AND the fan 1.5 patch, it appears that they have fixed just about all of the bugs.

The game looks great, is a very fun rpg, the quest log is good, it plays very different depending on what clan you are-- Malkavian here-- anyone else play that and had the run in with a stop sign?  hysterical

It reminds me a lot of Morrowind- they have put a lot into this game--- main quests, side quests  and lots of little extras but on a much smaller scale.

The charater creation and skills are seemingly done very well.  I have  pretty much just started- only just got to Downtown but if this type of game is your cup of tea, definitely give it a go.

Just make sure  you have the horse power to run it-- i am on an AMD 2200 with a Geforce 6600 GT-- but I would recommend at least 768 of ram to help with load times.

I just wanted to gush over the game a bit....
618  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Dungeon Siege the movie? on: July 20, 2005, 08:08:33 PM
Rage.. hehe dude  Hola

How bad can a Uwe Boll movie be...?  Uh, there are no words in any language that can describe the badness of his films really.  The oddest thing is that people still give him money to make films.

And yes, Ray Liotta just joined the cast so....looks like there must be a lot of out of work actors out there.

621  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Small claims court worth it? Need advice. on: July 14, 2005, 10:37:28 PM
Not sure if this was answered but-

at least in Califorinia Small Claims is a breeze.

Anywhere from 12-20 bucks, get someone to serve the shop  and you are in court in usually less than 30 days.

They told  you it was warranty, then they charged you-- I believe that that a shop is required by law to provide a written estimate BEFORE repairs are done and you must sign it.

You are entitled as well to all your out of pocket expenses incurred- and that might include any loss of money from plans lost over the 4th of July.

California allows you to sue for 5000 dollars and often you get your decision on the spot.

It is very easy process and most courts provide as Small Claims service that helps you fill out the simple paperwork and gives you advice on serving etc...
622  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST Season 1 Finale - Nice on: May 26, 2005, 06:53:40 PM
"Dude"... Hurley is definitely my favorite character.

As for resolution, you have to remember that the show might be on the air for 5 years- if they tell us everything now, well what is left?

There was really a lot of plot points made-- the black smoke wasn't made by the others.. probably smile

Walt kidnapped by ... uh who?? but geeze that whole raft part was pretty massive as far as plot happenings.

The hatch is finally open... now we wait.

Arzt....DUDE, you have a piece of Arzt on you.... laughed out loud-and I agree the fact that they can introduce a character for an episode or 2 then whack them like that-- ballsy but good.

I think we will see some new charaters-- that we do not know are on the island yet, be introduced next year.

but in the end, i liked it- it was more a season cliff hanger than a finale...

this link is the thread:  Guide To Guides

I highly recommend checking out some of the posted guides--lots of good game play info, plus really good writeups on all the different types of powers.... really good stuff in there.

without getting into too much detail just a few things:

Get your travel power at 12
Get stamina and 6 slot it asap-- I think you can grab it at 20-a must have

Also, try to find a group to join up- either friends or an actual super group- it really adds to the game and having peeps on that can help when you are playing is a real saving grace- I was fortunate to get hooked up within a week and it really helped.

Finally, try a hero planner- you can plan out the archtype and powers so when you do level up you know what you want already-- hehe, i am just a blaster and I have redone my guy prob 9 times and I am still tweaking him

Best place  for  replacment maps  and such:

Another good info site:

Hope that helps.
629  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST - 04/06/05 on: April 13, 2005, 12:21:42 AM
But that IS the show, that is how it works. When has the show told the audience anything? Basically, we don't really know anymore now than we did after the episode where they heard the French woman's radio message. Even after seeing the Frenchwoman and hearing from her(twice!), we have more questions than answers regarding her. In fact, since she might be crazy, you could say we have NO answers regarding her part in all this.

Ok that is true... the show is generally questions and no answers but my point was that of all the shows, this was .. just kinda boring--- sure spoilers form ABC telling us for weeks that someone would die might have ruined the death of Boone but geeze, a frigging PLANE fell oh him so was his death a surprise?  Nope

Claire had a baby... well, she was 9 months pregnant so no surprise there.

Claire and Boone were the 2 biggies and I think not too many people were surprised at what happened to them.

Jack  was indeed pretty kick butt in this ep though, I agree completely.

I just feel that compared to other episodes this one was...lacking.  It seems that I am in the minority here.... oh well, at least we have  3 hours of finale- and I doubt very seriously that ANYONE will be disappointed or pissed that we have to wait until September for new episodes.
630  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST - 04/06/05 on: April 12, 2005, 06:55:14 PM
okok IC...

See in my head, when I watched the episode, I heard.... "there were no survivors..."

If it were "no WE are the surviors..." that Boone heard then yes.
631  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST - 04/06/05 on: April 12, 2005, 05:53:41 PM
Unless of course the plane was already found and there were NO survivors....?

NM, that wouldn't make sense-- I mean if they ARE dead.. well there would be no resolution.

BUT, if a plane is lost, then wouldn't the reasonable response be...YOU GUYS ARE ALIVE???  OMG WE THOUGHT YOU HAD ALL DIED??!!
632  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST - 04/06/05 on: April 11, 2005, 08:14:39 PM
Actually it is a bit confusing, becuase it starts out that it is 3 hours but  then talkes about 2-- but it DOES say 3....

Story link from Sci Fi channel:

and the text:

Lost Finale Is Super-Sized

Javier Grillo-Marxuach, a writer and supervising producer on ABC's hit series Lost, told SCI FI Wire that the much-anticipated season finale will clock in at three hours and give fans everything they love about the show. "In terms of epic storytelling and shocking destiny, you ain't seen nothing yet!" Grillo-Marxuach said in an interview. "We were going to do a two-hour finale [over two weeks], and then ABC asked if we could do 90 minutes [the second week] so they could schedule it against American Idol. Carlton [Cuse] and Damon [Lindelof, who co-created the show with J.J. Abrams,] did an amazing job on the finale script, and their first draft came in a little long anyway. [ABC] looked at it and decided to do a two-hour. So 'Exodus Part 1' will air on May 18th, and the epic saga that is 'Exodus Part 2' will air May 25th. The final two hours is so full of incident and character and shocks and scares and drama, all the things that people love about Lost, that it would have been silly to cut things out. So we've got a 25-hour first season! We busted our butts on it, but it's not going to feel like it's been padded. We are very proud of it."

Grillo-Marxuach wrote five episodes in the freshman season and confirmed that he would return for the second season, which begins production in July. Reflecting on his efforts this year, he said, "'... In Translation,' which I wrote with Leonard Dick, is my favorite episode this season." The episode revealed the troubled backstory to Jin, played by Daniel Dae Kim. "It was such a great character piece for Jin. Daniel's performance was fantastic. I don't think it's our flashiest episode. There are episodes that have more incidents in them, but it was so emotional and was so much a closure for me, because I wrote the first episode ['House of the Rising Sun'] about Jin and Sun. My dad even wrote me an e-mail after that episode telling me he was proud of me."

As to what the castaways will have to endure next season, Grillo-Marxuach said: "The second season is strictly top secret right now. Damon has alluded to his ideas about what the second season is going to be like, and once the first season is over, we are going to begin secret summit meetings to start bashing out how it will lay out over the course of the season. Come May, we'll have a lot more information about what's going to be happening. But our masterminds are very much at work on what that second season will be about." Lost airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

634  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / LOST - 04/06/05 on: April 07, 2005, 03:37:58 PM
See I have to disagree here.

I felt it was the weakest episode so far.  Nothing really happens.  Ok Claire had her baby- ok well we knew that from day one.

Boone died... well a plane fell on him last week and they have been telling us that someone on the show is gonna die for weeks on end so no real surprise there.

Locke was lying and now others know-- ok well that was bound to happen sometime.

Um, I mean it was all things that had to happen but it was kind of boring really.  Basically the story didn't go anywhere last nite- it set up a few things kind of, like Jack is pissed at Locke-- ok but I am not on the edge of my seat waiting for that fight but I do wonder what happend to Jack's wife.
635  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Digital camera recommendations? on: April 05, 2005, 08:46:45 PM
A few things to remember.....

3.1 megapixel will print 4x6 glossy photos that look just like film photos with a good ( eg Cannon pixma 4000) so don't get *over* caught up in megapixel madness smile

Makes sure it  comes with rechargeable batteries-- sometimes they won't to keep the price down.

Make sure it has some optical zoom, not just digital zoom.

I don't like HP--- had a bad experience with them- not good quality and uses massive amounts of battery power.

Kodak- the controls suck-- not user friendly at all and the cases are cheap plasticky feeling....

I have a Sony P72 3.1 with optical and dig zoom... like i said, the pics i print are basically indistinguishable from film....

Also when you are trying them out, see how long it takes to cycle to the next shot...the HP was like 3 seconds but my Sony is very shot-- like 1/2 second or a bit more.

I would highly suggest going to say BB or some other store and getting a feel for them-- small is good but too small may not be to your liking...also take a look at the control set up eg. how hard is it to get to the menu, to reveiw pics, to find the movie button, change settings and the like--

And with 300 bucks, you can do well and prob pick up a big old storage card too--- scan disk is very nice-- and usually 30% or so cheaper than the name brand ones.  Get the biggest one you can smile

Hope that helps a bit.

I then added a bit more ram, and then since I got birthday money, I picked  up a new 19 inch

WOW, HL2- the most heavy duty game i have right now, and it looks, just fantastic.
In a nutshell tho', a very nice card indeed... and for the price- eh, a bit more than I wanted to spend but basically for a few bucks more than an ATI 9600, i got a much newer card.
