No pun intended.  slywink

So is this old news? I couldn't find an existing thread on the subject.

I believe this is a Canadian show just moved to the US?  Hence we are now behind here.

I liked it as well except for one easy it was for Kiera to move from just got time-warped back to 2012 with no ID, money, friends basically leading a police task force.  It just seemed way to easy and contrived.

That said, I liked it so far and the cast is pretty eclectic with some old great faces in it.

Dollar Shave Club advertisement.  I never heard of these guys before but I just might be turning in my electric razor for good.

Looking good pop-pop!  smile

They are totally worth a try.  Fantastic price, you can stop any time and you switch to different razors whenever you want.  Been using them for about a year now- such a great deal- and yeah while it was recommended by a buddy of mine, the video inked the deal.

40% bigger, no gimped UI, 5000% more native apps, not stretched phone apps, more real apps, longer battery life, weighs much less.  I have a Fire, the original and while the HD is definitely better, it is no iPad.

Just sayin' Apple could do the same thing.

Kindle does win hands down on the speakers though.
4  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Phone cover/case? on: September 14, 2012, 11:20:48 PM

Just got this delivered yesterday.  12 bucks is a steal for it.  Similar 2 part design as the GINORMOUS OTTERBOX CASE OF DOOM, but if you do like I did and get the black case for a black phone, it doesn't add that much bulk at all.  The silicone will take the bumps and the plastic on top is smooth enough to slide in and out of pockets- also a must for me.

Big relief that they wrapped things up quickly and nicely with Quick.  I just remember for years watching the organization lose good players over a bad way too.  It seems that they are now finally willing to spend the money they have to make sure the team is actually a team.

And good for Quick.  Now he can buy lots of toys for his kid. OR maybe more M&M's.

Good stuff Gellar.  I definitely enjoyed that.

You know it is funny.  I realize highlight reels tend to gloss over the slogging that goes on in between the highlights but can you imagine thinking  even 3 years ago that the Kings would be one of the most fun teams to watch? Well that and win the Cup. They can really turn it on.

And then there are Dustin's kids really enjoying the cup.

10  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Verizon unveils new shared phone/data plans - likely no one will be happy on: June 13, 2012, 03:32:16 PM
If you don't use much data, it is actually a good thing...but the good part is probably limited to not a lot of people.

For our family it is great- right now I pay 200 per month for 2 iPhones, and one mini-data plan phone, unlimited messages and 700 shared minutes.  I am going to add one more iPhone for the kid and upgrade her phone so as I read it, i get this:

3 iPhones with unlimited minutes and texting- 120.00
2 gigs of Data- 60.00

So my bill will now be 180 per month.

Most of our data usage is at home or at work - so all wifi, we do not stream music or movies and even with all my traveling and such I barely it 1/2 gig a month on a huge usage month.  Where it gets you is if you are on the unlimited plan now and use a lot of data- because what was once 30.00 per month is now a whole lot more.

Congrats to the Kings.. much deserved win.

But who calls a 5 min. major in a potentially series deciding finals game?  Sums up the entire season with regards to officiating.

Just my .02 on that and remember, I am a Kings fan tried and true.

While no one wants the officials to decide a game, they most definitely did not in this game.  That was a vicious boarding hit.  There was an injury from the hit that actually required stitches and clearance by a doctor before they would allow Scuderi back on the ice.  There is no question that Bernier made no attempt to slow, or ease up knowing full well that Scuderi didn't know he was there (head down facing the glass and working the puck).  It was a text book board and a text book call that deserved 5 minutes.  Did the call cost them the game?  Maybe but really want cost New Jersey the game was that they allowed 3 goals in under 5 minutes.  THAT was the clincher, well that and the fact that they allowed 3 more after that.

Look the teams are in the finals, and things happen.  If you cannot hold your composure and overcome a bit of adversity early on, you are going to lose.  And that is what happened.  Could they have come back after 3?  Sure. Could they have killed the major?  Possibly but certainly letting in 3 goals was *unusual* especially for NJ.

That said, I agree that the officiating was definitely below par...for all the teams.  In the entire series, we got bad calls, the refs let us get away with things that should have been called, but I really think it was equally bad all around.

Anyway, that is my perspective and it might be slanted but hey...WE WON THE CUP!!

!!!!!!  Need to find out more!!
Nothing against Gagne, he is great but the biggest thing the Kings have done since the start of the playoffs is not change a thing.  And it works.  Definitely an odd turn of events- and WHAT HAPPENED?

Well what *I* would say is that of all the teams or lack of teams in LA, Hockey fans here are the best...we have people that have had season tickets when we were so bad you could practically get in for free at the Forum years a go.  We are not fair-weather fans, we are true fans thru thick and thin.  Other than maybe SC or UCLA fans, Kings fans in LA are probably some of the best fans anywhere.

LOL this brought a tear to my eye.

That was a good game.

I have to say, I was a bit worried, even with the Kings playing as well as they have been.  East Coast, East Coast team, lots of travel.  Kings in 5?

I will still go with 6 but man they look good.  Plus Kopitar's goal was just the shot in the arm that we need to prove that the Kings really can with the Cup.

Best part- what a classy game.  Nothing cheap, good hockey, respect by both teams and almost good officiating.

32  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: 2012 NHL Playoffs (Conference Finals) on: May 25, 2012, 08:48:53 PM
And today it was announced that the NHL is looking into the actions of Phoenix for their actions after the game was over.

"After Dustin Penner's overtime goal won the Western Conference finals, Coyotes Martin Hanzal skated aggressively toward a referee, goalie Mike Smith threw his stick and Keith Yandle was quoted as saying the referees worked as teammates with the Kings."

As for Rozsival, yeah it was a hard hit.  Hard hits hurt.  Hockey is a full contact sport.  Painful yet not illegal nor does it warrant being tossed out of the NHL.

I am already looking forward to our first matchup next year. smile

/not sure who to root for tonight.  I think I would prefer to see New York but the Devils are pretty hot.

35  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: 2012 NHL Playoffs (Conference Finals) on: May 23, 2012, 08:57:21 PM
The officiating was bad throughout the entire LA/Phx series.  Both teams were on both ends of the bad.  That's life.  The game was not decided by a single bad call.  The game was decided by the fact that the Kings played better.  As for the Brown it.  It was not a bad hit- a painful one for sure but it was a good non-call.  It has been reviewed and there is no hearing.

As for Phoenix, they have to be one of the dirtiest and classless teams in the NHL.  Yeah Kings fan talking here but blaming the refereeing for the entire season being against them because they have no owner, blaming calls on the ice when there team had a suspension, several majors an an actual kneeing non-call in their favor.  Yeah go Yotes.

And that frigging howling...whatever.

Go Kings!

Not too surprised.  I felt the last season was crap.   The show had promise in the beginning but really lost its focus and kind of went all over the place.  Also losing Ashely and adding Kate were two fatal moves.  Last of all, they really messed up with the character of John Druitt.  Used him way too little, made him a tragic and sympathetic character and then had Magnus shit all over him.

Exactly how  I feel as well.  Not surprised at all that it was canned.  It had promise for sure but the characters were just so lacking in some parts...but great in others.  Ah well.  Maybe that leaves some money/room for some nice new awesome SyFy show in the future?
37  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: 2012 NHL Playoffs (Conference Semi-Finals) on: May 07, 2012, 08:16:25 PM
I watched the Kings make a run for the cup in 93 with Gretzky and crew.

Strange at it sounds, I really think we have a better chance this year than we did then.  For the first year in a long time, we have a goalie that we can count on 110%, a smart defense that knows how and when to activate, and 4 lines that just shut teams down.

They just needed that push and Sutter seems to be the one to do the pushing.

Go Kings!!!

Plus it is nice to see hockey on page 1 and not page 7 after out of state High School football scores.
