And, oddly enough, Alba looks orders of magnitude hotter in Sin City.

See, her role in Sin City is perfect casting- she can certainly come off as a hot slut.  Sue Storm is not a hot slut, she's a girl-next-door type.

Really the best thing anyone can do is write off this once great band.  They have been putting out dreck for well over 10 yrs now, and to say it's their producer's fault is just wishfull thinking.

My theory is they stopped using drugs.  That's usually a good indication of impending suckiness.  sad but true, at least in most cases.
2763  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Fantastic Four Trailer on: January 19, 2005, 02:03:38 AM
Well, I thought it looked HORRIBLE.  They royally screwed up Dr. Doom- now he looks all 'Electro-Klytus'.

Seriously.  I kept on thinking of that last scene in The Hulk.  You know, the one that plunged a mediocre-to-bad movie into the eternal depths of suckitude.

sigh.  well, there's always the unreleased Roger Corman version....
2764  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Don't forget! 24 starts tonight! on: January 12, 2005, 09:24:09 PM
Maybe I'm just sick of the formula.  I really like the first season, with the exception of the amnesia scenes and excessive Kim subplots, and season two started off good, but they shoulda just nuked LA when they had the chance- would have been a great twist. I grew weary of it after that, and season 3 just looked meh.

It just seems to me that they are trying waaaay to hard this time around.  My wife and I took turns predicting what was going to happen next, and we generally got each one right.  Nothing shocked us other than the how bad it was.  And the computer stuff?  Puh-lease!  Take down the internet?  positioning code for a major attack, as if it were a game of risk? wtf?!?!?  The Jack Bauer character is basically McClane from the Die Hard series now, another character who devolved into self parody.

I actually have a tiny bit more faith that Alias will be good this season, but the premiere of that was pretty weak too.
2765  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Don't forget! 24 starts tonight! on: January 11, 2005, 06:07:12 AM
Ok, that just SUCKED.  24 has become a parody of itself.  I want my 4 hrs back...

Actually, in my experience, you are paying for quality, not brand.  Apple uses extremely high quality components.  Look inside a G5 sometime, it's AMAZING.
2767  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Godzilla:StE Early Sightings/Impressions? on: January 10, 2005, 05:01:27 PM
My son and I just got this on the weekend, and I gotta say, what the hell is up with all of the negative reviews?!?!?!  This game is awesome!  We had a blast playing it all weekend long, and we just unlocked all of the monsters- gonna dig into live over the next few days.

I noticed that all of the sites that have reader ratings consistently ranking in the 80s, while review sites have pretty much panned it.  All of them seem to hate the 'sluggishness' of the fights- do they realize that we are dealing with giant  monsters here?

As soon as I get through my current load of reviews, expect one of this, hopefully by next week.
2768  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is a Flash iPod on the horizon? on: January 07, 2005, 09:26:35 PM
I think this one's bogus

iWork, 'Headless' Mac, and updates to iLife I'm betting on for sure, but I doubt that they would dilute the iPod line like that.  I would rather see the mini get a larger capacity model and the current one go down in price.

I hope the wachowski brothers get it up the butt good and proper for putting me through Matrix 2 & 3.  My wife and I were both wondering if the second and third movies were even written by the same guys, and now I guess we know.

I still can't believe the idiotic 'ultimate' matrix set got made.  Commentary by philosophers?  gimme a fucking break.....

2779  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Another post-partum tragedy on: November 23, 2004, 05:34:28 PM
I'm sorry, but to just dismiss this as post partum depression is ridiculous.  I'm not saying that she didn't have it, but she obviously had other more serious mental problems.  Post Partum may have catalyzed it, but it doesn't explain away insanity of that level.

And might I add that this is REALLY fucked up.  I can't get it out of my head, it's really disturbing me

Sorry to any of those who were using it.  I was installing the new ad code on all of the themes and that one got hosed beyond my abilities to repair.  To be honest it never liked to play nice with me.

Sometime in the near future I will work up another theme for the forums, I just don't have time now.

The box and manual are rather worthless, so I can't really sell it.  I guess I will just throw it in the garbage and chalk this one up to a hard lesson learned.

Ummm, now I bought it through steam so i don't know this firsthand, but I read somewhere that the retail version of the game didn't actually come with a manual....

I really can't understand all the problems people are having with Steam now.  I've had it for a few months now, never had a problem with it, and I truly think it's the future of PC gaming.

Before H2 was released I had the whole game on my system, and at two in the morning while sitting at my desk I was able to start playing it.  That's just badass.

My sentiments exactly.  Tycho at PA pretty much nails my opinion as well.

My 6 yr old declared it his favorite movie today.  I asked him to rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 and without hesitation he declared it to be a one hundred!

Mind you, this morning he also refused to go outside and play because they were showing Godzilla vs Space Godzilla on Encore....

My wife claims I am brainwashing him, but I am convinced it's genetic

What, and be forced to use Gimp?  I think not!

Linux is about as far on the other end of the spectrum of user-friendliness as it gets puke
