Then please, enlighten me as to why you started this thread to begin with.  All I see is a smug self-righteousness  I don't believe that you have the open-mindedness to actually engage in an honest discourse with someone who's opinion differs from yours.  By all means, prove me wrong, it'll be a pleasant change of pace.

Ad Hominem

Yes, I know what Ad Hominem means, thank you, now please quit spamming the thread with it.  Let's just do away with formalities and use 'sticks and stones' from now one, ok?

Unbreakable, do you ever, for a minute of your life, ever think that sometime, just sometimes, you may be wrong?  Or maybe not even completely right?  Seriously, man, why DO you start these threads?

Yes, get your Ad Hominem in early and often.

Seriously... if you really want a discussion, as opposed to just trying to rile people up, there's that *other* board, ya know...

2646  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Tactical Report: Strategy games of E3 Pt2- Civ 4, AOE 3, ROL on: June 14, 2005, 04:07:20 PM
Yeah, I saved my favorites for part 2   biggrin

I gotta say, though, War Front: Turning Point was pretty damn spectacular.  You gotta see that earthquake bomb in action.
2647  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Tactical Report: Strategy games of E3 Pt2- Civ 4, AOE 3, ROL on: June 14, 2005, 02:17:30 PM
Hey all, today we bring you part 2 of my Tactical Report.  Here's an excerpt:

Quote
When Rise of Nations came out in 2003, I was curious to see Microsoft publish what appeared to be a direct competitor to their wildly popular Age of Empires series. Of course, at that time, Ensemble had recently released their divergent fantasy strategy title Age of Mythology, so it really wasn’t an issue, and it appears that they are in a trade-off with Big Huge Games as the follow-up to Rise of Nations is taking non-historical route this time. Rise of Legends takes the award winning gameplay of RON and infuses it with a fantasy steam-punk flavor, giving us the freshest take on strategy gaming I have seen in a long time.

2651  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Star Wars - Episode III Impressions (OMG SPOILERS) on: May 31, 2005, 07:30:08 PM
Quote from: "Ibby"
And speaking of blind Jedi, how come they have this entire sensorium of security holograms watching Palpatine and probably everything else that goes on around the city, and yet Obi Wan can push a button in an instant to see that:

1) Ah! Anakin slaughtered the Jedi Temple.
2) Aha! Palpatine is the Sith Lord!
3) Oh look! Anakin is the new apprentice.

That hologram sequence was taken within the Jedi temple itself.  Chances are pretty good that they had security cameras there, that they could access there.

Of course, that still doesn't explain the 'highlight reel' that Obi-Wan got, but, hey...
2652  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Where did your online name come from? on: May 25, 2005, 02:14:39 PM
Well, it originally started as a comic book character a friend of mine and I created back in high school, The Fool.  Didn't really think much about it until a few years later when I rediscovered comics and started trying to do my own again.  The Fool pretty much became my mascot at that point.  Later, when I started doing freelance work I decided to call my 'company' FoolishStudios and my avatar here is part of my brand.

Not to mention the fact that they still owe some devs money....

2658  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / System Discussion: Nintendo Revolution on: May 20, 2005, 04:19:01 AM
Ron and I got a hands on with the gameboy micro today and I'm a helluva lot more impressed than I thought I was going to be.  In fact, I kind of wanted one, it's pretty damn cool.  I'm going to try and work on a write-up tonight.

We talked about Muppets- specifically, Fraggle Rock and The Muppet Show.  One of them admitted her childhood desire to be Janice, the bass player from the Electric Mayhem.

Other than that we talked about the shitty power outtage situation.

Have any of you spent extended periods of time in any other countries?  I think you'd be surprised at how good things are here compared to most of the world.
2662  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Eventhough most here don't care, here's some Revolution news on: May 14, 2005, 05:33:16 AM
I don't think that that is a spot for the revolution- I think it's for something else they will unveil.  Everybody is mistaking this for the revolution, and IGN is claiming it's a fake (but they are refering to it as a fake revolution leak).

It's too good to be fake.  Even if it isn't a real product launch, I'm betting it's some kind of mock-up by their marketing dept.  It feels like an E3 video that's to be splashed on huge monitors.  It feels like Nintendo for sure.

sources are saying this is fake, but I wouldn't be surprised if this is real....

mind you, I'm not saying this is Revolution, but what exactly are those two devices that it's showing connecting to 4.5 minutes in?  one of them is a gamecube...

Dimmona, I understand your weeping.  The good ol' days of GG are gone...
This isn't Gone Gold (thankfully).  CG is not intended as a GG replacement.  CG is it's own site.

While this is certainly true, we staff would like to think that CG is keeping some of that Gone Gold spirit alive.

That said, I hope they keep the competition tight on this next wave- as gamers that can be nothing but good for us  Cool

Nice!  Meanwhile, I still can't afford to insure my family even though I'm making more money than I ever have in my life.  Even when I was unemployed we didn't qualify for medical assistance because I was not the right ethnicity (or so I was told at the time).

2677  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Revenge of the Sith - Anyone else getting it? on: May 09, 2005, 03:50:41 PM
Yup.  I concur with AgtFox.  This game would score way higher if they would have included live support, btw.  lightsaber duels online would have been SWEET.
2678  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Jade Empire 98%??? on: May 08, 2005, 04:53:29 AM
Hell, I was surprised when I saw it- that's the highest score this site has ever given a game!  I don't think Ron gave it that score lightly...

Basically, though, all it boils down to the fact that he just liked it a helluva lot more than you do.
2679  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Revenge of the Sith - Anyone else getting it? on: May 08, 2005, 02:20:30 AM
Hmnnn... just finished the single player (not yet the bonus ending, tho) and I'm starting to think that I should've rented, not bought.  My estimate of the game is now closer to a 75 or 80.  multiplayer is still pretty fun, tho
2680  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Revenge of the Sith - Anyone else getting it? on: May 07, 2005, 09:43:10 PM
I'm mostly through the single player and I'd say I pretty much agree with the team xbox review for the most part.  I'd rate it a solid 80, with an 85-87 score for those that are rabid star wars fans like myself.  It actually reminds me of the spiderman 2 game in some ways- wonderful execution in some parts (combat system is fun as hell) but some gameplay issues like too much repetition in enemies.

I wish it was live enabled so that we could go head-to head against each other with the splendid lightsaber combat system!!
