I think you should change the name back to Console Gold. No?
Could some of the post drop be due to all those Cloudfire issues? I still find the forum down at times.
Console Gold? Um, no And, again, our forum traffic is actually mostly steady. I believe the issue at hand is posting

I still don't know why you got rid of the GT logo, were you being sued or something?
A few reasons. We wanted to get away from the 'GT' thing since GameTrailers had pretty much co-opted it, but we also wanted a more timeless brand, and the old logo was very dated design-wise. The old logo was also VERY difficult to design around and didn't transfer very well to other media. The site redesign carried with it the rebranding as a step in a new direction for the site.

That's the right address and the time i tried to comment, but it wouldn't let me post anything. Just kept telling me my password was incorrect. Never did receive the reset e-mail. (No worries Engine, it's my junk mail account. ) Nothing in your spam folder? I'm at a loss, the password reset seems to be working as far as I can tell

We've got some forum related stuff in the works. Dont even have a clue how to address "enticing the old missing people to post again" bit.
Honestly all we can do is provide a place like this, it takes people to post. Some of the stuff we're working on will tear down the wall between the main site and the forums and make discussion a larger part of things

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Help fund a documentary about the Making of Excalibur

It's got 12 hours left, guys- let's make this happen! http://www.indiegogo.com/excaliburdocWe have had such an adventure making this documentary. Never did we expect to have so many of the cast from the movie 'Excalibur' come forward and meet us.
The interviews we have conducted are brilliant! A real mixture of humour, toil and fond memories.
The estimated runtime for this project is between 60-80 minutes.
John Boorman celebrates his 80th birthday in 2013 and six decades as a film director. This documentary pays tribute to one of his most iconic films after 'Deliverence'.
We believe in this project and have backed it as far as we can. We still have the final fence to climb before we release, with your help, a great feature documentary.

I also noticed that the front page right now never stops loading, both in Chrome and Opera. Some kind of resource is probably trying to load from a server that isn't responding.
I've isolated this issue, but the fix will have to wait for this evening. I can't seem to replicate the other Chrome issues you are experiencing at all, and I'm wondering if they might be related to our CDN.

Well, we don't support Opera (I don't think SMF does on their end either) and I'll keep an eye on Chrome issues, but we are also going to be migrating off of SMF Forums software in the near future as SMF hasn't made any significant upgrades to the software in many many years.

Yup. We're trying out a feature of viglink that adds affiliate links to posts automagically (it already added affiliate codes to already linked items). If anybody clicks on those links and buys anything, we get a commission.

Yeah, the whole malware thing might be a blessing in disguise: we have a much better ad server software now (the one we were using stopped being supported for non paying customers ) and have joined a promising new ad network. Very happy.

I watched this the other night and it might have been because I was so tired, but as the movie went on I really started to lose interest. I ended up not particularly enjoying it, but I did catch myself nodding off towards the end.

Entertainment and sexual arousal for masturbatory purposes are two different things.
GT doesn't have the "room behind the bead curtain" ... reviewing a game which has no other purpose besides pornographic interest isn't worth the game time, or the writeup.
It would be worth a "quick look in a dark corner" editorial article, and as long as the publisher is OK with that, I think it would be a fantastic piece of work.
Consider the hullabaloo that "Hot Coffee" brought to the table, and how western "Puritan" values made this out to be GTA corrupting children (hint: M isn't M for Mom's new babysitter) - but that minigame was no better or worse than one that has you flying exploding RC vehicles - it's not part of the core gameplay, but could be "Value added".
This current game could go to show how pathetic the industry has come sofar, with classic adventure games like LSL DROVE the industry at one point. Titillation and arousal are hot products ( AKA sex sells ) - but can a video game really deliver both entertainment, enjoyment, and gameplay - or is the modern AO game a glorified nudie pen?
Exactly

Sorry I missed this thread over the holidays. I have to agree with thFool - seems hypocritical to me that our society condemns sexuality in favor of violence. So it's cool to play games simulating how many different ways I can kill or maim someone, but then we get morally outraged about games that simulate different ways to f someone?
I'm right there with these guys. We spend so much time on moral outrage when the media attacks a game as a "murder simulator" that is "corrupting our children" but often do the same when a game like this comes along. It took violent games years to figure out how to handle violence well (and well a huge segment still seem to be made with a middle school mindset). I'm cracking up at this argument in this thread. While yes, certainly our society is pretty fucked up when it comes the acceptance of violence over sex, that's hardly at all the point here. The point here is that this isn't a game worth reviewing on any site that takes itself remotely close to seriously or has any idea what it's readership is.. It's jerk off material loosely disguised as a game. Are you saying movie sites should review porn alongside the current releases? Come the fuck on. Get off the soapbox. My original point was that it may not warrant a review, but there might be a compelling story here. I don't know, I haven't played it.

I'd also agree about sound being perhaps the weakest element in the game. For me it wasn't just sound levels though, as the musical score didn't quite seem to be up to usual Halo standards. IMO it's still better than 90% of the games on the 360, but considering the amount of resources they advertised about pouring into the soundrack I expected something that at least equaled previous games.
Wow, I thought the soundtrack was good, but the SFX was exceptional

A cursory glance online reveals a few things- it was removed from Steam Greenlight and IGN has a record for it along with articles and a wiki. There's a story in this, I'm just not sure if it's simply a review, maybe in regards to how the industry classifies AO games and the level of violence and gore that is allowed but anything with sex in it is reviled. IGN has assets up that have been censored so it definitely looks like the devs can provide that sort of thing.
I dunno. I'm of the mind that if the game has actual gameplay and is a true game rather than something that's just going for the cheap thrill, give it a chance. I think we could even provide an age gate on the article if necessary.
BTW, this is considerably different than "What Not to Play in Front of Your Girlfriend". That was intended to be a satirical article and it really didn't fit the tone and content of the site. Obviously this would be striking new ground content-wise but maintaining our tone with a critical editorial commentary might prove compelling.
My 2 cents.
