I have plenty of extra cops and fire, but am I to far away from you guys to share my stuff,  Im in the mean street of the region I guess,  it sure is ugly here.

what dictates building style?  I see some of your guys skyscrapers and they are sweet,  mine all look like some housing project from the 70s...... Keep humming the "good times" theme to myself.
42  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 08, 2013, 03:31:12 AM
funny my casino and cruise ship port were total duds as well.  I wonder if it has something to do with perhaps regional tourism possibly being shut off right now?

I had a giant oil field and everything attached,  it was huge, made me a lot of money,  Godzilla took care of that.  Cost me hundreds of thousands lost,   freakin lizard.
43  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 08, 2013, 03:22:30 AM
I visited your guys cities, man they are all like nice and stuff.  My city looks like Brooklyn.  I got 250,000 sims jammed in there already.  Its one ugly place.
44  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 07, 2013, 09:09:38 PM
lands are freed up, nothing was touched on them,  just server hick-up......and Oh by the way, I already had a few citizens abducted by a ufo, and one house blown up by the ufo...wtf  LOL
45  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 07, 2013, 08:16:22 PM
Yeah  LOL,  Ill abandon those cities except Schrute Farms.   I was just trying to claim anything, told me I couldnt, Finally I got one, and made it Schrute Farms,  now all of a sudden Im a landbaron.

LOL, Problem of course its telling me I cant abandon right now,  blah blah blah,  so I'll keep trying.

Trying to connect, saw Arkons invite, will see if the server stays up long enough  slywink

Arkon, as far as money is concerned, float some bonds, they give you instant cash.  You find them by clicking simoleons,  you can have three bonds floating at once.

I agree about the last scene being about Rick regaining his sanity.

and if the zombies come, you poo pooers dont come begging me for access to the safer side of my moat , you had your chance saywhat

Zombies don't drown.  If you follow the Brooksian model, the roaming zeds would simply end up walking out of the water eventually.
you dont want them to drown, you want them to remain trapped in the "moat" so they therefore keep any humans at bay as well.  A two-fer.   It would be easy enough to drain some of the water if the water ever approached a level were a zombie could tread water, and pull themselves up and out.  Highly unlikely. No zombie is gonna pull themselves out of of a ten foot plus deep muddy drench,  hell no full thinking fully function person is for that matter. They would just flail about in a muck of scummy water.   You just have to dig the moat far enough away from any living quarters as to not keep you up at night.

51  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Walking Dead moonwalk onto AMC for Season 3 on: February 26, 2013, 06:46:33 PM
I dont get the walls or fence thing at all,  All you would have to do is dig a nice deep 10' trench around a town or whatever and problem solved.  A few days job with a back hoe.  Simply create a drawbridge to enter and leave, and your protected.  Pretty simple really.

Lets not even worry about the fact that living on an outer island at this point would be paradise.  Protected from zombies via water, and without humans, the fish and shell fish population would explode.

53  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors begin. on: February 21, 2013, 09:52:55 PM
Another problem for these consoles, if they continue to go up into the 400- 500 range, and with powerful desktops cheaper than ever, they have more than just each other to compete against. Why pay 500 for these consoles, when you can pay a little more for a desktop that blows their doors off?

Again I want, I need to have these console makers MAKE me buy their stuff, I'm hoping they give me that O Boy I gotta have that moment. Yesterday wasnt it.
54  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors begin. on: February 21, 2013, 12:19:56 AM
Ironically all this social feature stuff we did 20 years ago.  Show off a game your playing, help a buddy, direct a friend through a hard level, talk trash, Play together with no lag?  yep, we did it all 20 years ago, it's called actually being with friends... physically in the same room, imagine that.  Oh and all that instant game access, yeah we had that too 20 years ago, it was called a cartridge.

55  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: The next major MMO on: February 15, 2013, 02:16:26 AM
Yeah I think ARcheAge is the next big one. I think as with this one we will now see many more of the big MMO's possibly coming from the far east, after all that is where the vast majority of MMO players are.  Lets remember Wow has 10 million subscribers with almost 90% or so coming from OUTSIDE the US.

wont be day one buys, but I'm hoping as in the past, that there will be games that come out on them that just make me buy the system in order to play that game.

As in the past, I need to be "WoWed"   if not then I m perfectly content with my pc gaming.

Very nice list, you guys are doing a real nice job with this site if I may say so.  Anyway for me, the two titles I'm looking forward to are the Stick of Truth and the Last of Us.
59  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: I need your opinion on whether or not to run a review on: January 03, 2013, 08:14:43 PM
There are plenty of us indies out there, you need not look to the fringes to find us. With regards to this game I would say, play it, if it is awesome, if its groundbreaking and something special, then review it, if not, why bother.

61  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Best Android games for the big screen on: December 28, 2012, 07:04:34 PM
screen resolution and size is a challenge for developers. Making a game optimal for a small screen , usually doesnt allow for the game to play all that well on other larger variations. Screen optimization and resolution is one factor, but UI is another.  One size fit all games are not going to be all that common IMHO.
62  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Happy Holidays - Enjoy a couple games on me on: December 19, 2012, 03:34:25 PM
thanks for the kind words.  As for the thoughts behind the interface it was three fold.

1) a fun control panel for kids as they are controlling ozzie. At some points in game development "owl control" was playing a larger part, but we toned it down.  Still see it gives you radio briefings, air drops of health etc
2) game may be ported to tablets at some point so needed area for touch controls
3) to cover the negative space.

anyway, there are always give and take. Thanks again.  Have a great holiday

Hiya Gang,
During my spare time I have been doing some fun indie game development (in contrast to my business software day job), and I have a few family PC desktop and laptop games now available. They are free and fun family friendly little time wasters.  Trailers, screenshots, and website links are below.

Happy Holidays, feel free to give, play, and share em.
Enjoy.

if you google around Im sure you'll be able to find cheaper replacements.  Like 120 here, http://www.zwee.com/game-consoles/cheap-ps3/

never used that site but you figure you only need a few years out of it til ps4 hits
68  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Grand Theft Auto V on: November 08, 2012, 06:06:37 PM
my main point is, in my opinion, there is a sameness, a been there done that's washing over this series.  I was hoping that this one would add something new, and I m not sure it will.
69  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Grand Theft Auto V on: November 08, 2012, 03:40:22 PM
umm Ive played all these games, and I found the characters to be pretty shallow, boring and with a sameness that now seems to creep from game to game. The environment is what makes these games, its shallow characters are what holds it back IMHO. They are predictable, on rails, quite boring since nothing you do really matters.  For you to say the characters are rich and the story complex is a bit of a stretch
70  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Grand Theft Auto V on: November 08, 2012, 03:51:19 AM
yes ceekay, because there couldnt possibly be another character to play in an open world environment other than a criminal punk.   saywhat oh brother.

gee lets think, it take a whole two seconds to come up with,  a Dexter like character, a pysco with a creed.  Or a serpico character, or one of a million other interesting types beyond the same old punk who does anything for money. These characters are losers , complete losers and not even interesting ones at that.  I love GTA open world environment, I just think this wanna be 21st century gangsta stuff is so played... sooooo played.

71  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Grand Theft Auto V on: November 07, 2012, 09:00:54 PM
not sure, hope your right, doubt it, sounds like assholes willing to do anything for money once again...its old...
72  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Grand Theft Auto V on: November 07, 2012, 08:30:47 PM
so really, we are just suppose to play another punk gangster for like the 5th time?  getting old...

true,  I guess we will find out how it plays out.

more importantly I hope they create a decent game , it has potential.

You MUST defend your mark vigorously against anything remotely similar or run the risk of wind up losing it.
disagree, not " anything remotely". The laws are changing in IP law, you simply cant go around threatening anyone at anytime anymore. We just had a meeting with our IP lawyers about this very subject

as for scrolls. umm what settlement, you mean this?
later tweeted details of the agreement: "The settlement is that we give them the trademark," he said, "get to keep the name, and won't make an Elder Scrolls competitor using the name." Not that it was likely to in the first place.

exactly my point. Elder scrolls changed nothing by going after them.  Just lawyers with too much time on their hands.

I would find it hard to believe they would invest so much time and so forth in promoting this game and name warZ without first consulting an IP lawyer to ask if they were OK doing so, but then again stranger and dumber things are known to have happened.

76  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: War Z on: August 02, 2012, 02:10:09 AM
one word off is one word off, meaning its not trademarked.  You can do trademark searches, I did, war z was wide open. I dont think you quite understand how trademarks work.  World War z, give you World War Z.  Its doesn't also give you Z, war z, etc.. Its very specific, hell plus you have to trademark within a wide range of industries with regard to the exact same trademark.
77  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: War Z on: July 22, 2012, 11:38:00 PM
I dont see a problem with the name. Do a trademark search and it looks wide open.
78  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: The next phase of MMO's on: May 30, 2012, 02:54:01 AM
possibly. But I also see things such as in game placement ads and items also, but first they really need to actually start creating dynamic worlds, this genre is very stagnant with little more the EQ clones for the last 10 years ( people say WOW clones, they are just ignorant that wow is nothing but an EQ clone)

The sad part is that since uo the genre has actually gone backwards.  I think Archeage has the right idea, we will see.

im on the fence about this game, I really think I may wait 6 months and take a look at in in the fall, I think some more baking in the oven may be what makes this game needs to make it really fun, complete, and playable.
