The price for selling those snow globe cards have nosedived since beginning of the Winter sale (when it first started, I sold couple for $0.50 each, now you can't get any higher than $0.2 or so).  I sold every snow globe card I got so far.  With the snow globe cards are going to disappear at the end of the sale, I believe its value will drop like a rock, I probably will buy a set to craft a badge at the end of the sale, if the price for each one is no higher than 5 cents each.

According Cheap Ass Gamer, the Gold edition of Sword of the Stars: The Pit is on sale at Amazon for a mere $1.74. Great deal, since DLCs are not on sale on Steam.  Even though Amazon title description didn't say gold edition, but it is the gold edition.  I already own the base game, but I bought it for cheap DLCs, and it activated in Steam as Gold edition with no problem.

Greenmangaming - 9.99.  might stack with
GMG20-GGN5D-FC3NA 20% off code.  I used this on a different game, so I can't confirm this works.

It does stack with GMG 20% off code, make is $8.  Ordered.

How is the single player game? I have almost no interest in multi-player for this, so I'm wondering if the SP portion is worth it....

Single player game is pretty good, and the AI is pretty good too.

Just give you an example of the AI from last night play: I'm playing the 4th German mission, and it is lot tougher than the missions before. I used all my force push on the right and captured 1 main and secondary objectives across the river, but I forgot to leave any meaningful defense at my starting base.  As I was getting ready to push my force to the left side, I see 4 T-72s accompanied by Mi-2 recon helicopter and 2 Mi-24 gunships rushed my starting base and crushed my weak defense, before I can react, my starting base with 2 FOBs is captured, and I lost my artillery,  then the AI actually called in rocket artillery at my start base, and pounded my advance for the left side.  Needless to say I quit after that.

I'd agree on the 1v1 aspect, but not a biggie - if I had a team i was probably going the pvp route anyway. I was planning on playing some of the campaign anyway as hopefully it will assist with understanding the game mechanics

Actually according to the official forum, Coop against AI will be availibe in a month or so.

Played some MP game last night, seems they significantly reduced xp you can earn for MP games icon_cry, so here is a quick tip: play some single player games first, it will give you a leg up, as it seems solo play will also give you command points to unlock stuff.  I played 2 solo mission, and was able to unlock bunch stuff.  The Solo portion of the game is not too bad, there are 4 operations availiable, and each has bunch missions for solo play, and I was disappointed that I was only able to do 1 vs. 1 skirmish vs AI.

I have played some beta mp games, I don't think supply is too micro managing intensive (of course I would love to see a supply system in which the truck will auto return to FOB when empty then return to action, I also wish there is unit ghosting when ordered to position, so I know which unit goes where).

The most important part of game is to get your mix of units into proper position, either flank the enemy unit or overwhelm them or use cover to ambush.  The supply issue only come up when your unit has to go long way from starting point to across map, or after intensive combat, that's why it is wise to send a supply truck or two along with your initial deployment.

Also the supply truck is so slow even with the upgrade ones if not using road, I have not used supply chopper, as they are kind expansive to use and lose, it is way easier to order another cheap supply truck from closer reinforcement point to supply the units as needed than order the original supply truck back to FOB to resupply then back, I mean time wise it is not worth it.  I return those truck to FOB if I remember, but otherwise they will just stay on the front line.  There are times, I was using forward artillery, and the supply is used up really quickly, I had to send supply convoy constantly from nearby reinforcement point, it is funny to see after a while there a lot empty trucks in the area.

How's the MP?

Played couple round of Ground control mode, have to say, it is more like COD than BC2,  Is it fun? absolutely. Map is big and varied, lots of hiding spots, lots of toys to play with etc.

But there are couple things I don't like: first, there is no spawn on squad or spawn on control points, you spawn in your pre-determined spawn point in the GC mode and that's it, The only spawn on teammate action I see if when your teammate spawn with vehicle, you can spawn in as gunner. Second, as of now, campers / snipers are dominating the map, as there are tons of hiding spots, while battle commander is interesting idea, but when your whole team just sit there sniping except 2 are capturing points, it is kind sad, especially in GC mode is no fun at all.  I have yet to see a good server that has good team work yet, as this is not like BC2, there is no talk or chatting going on, at least BC2 encourage team work.

Overall, this MP is mainly gear toward COD crowds, as it tries too hard at being the big boy, but end up as poor man's COD, thus the hate from the COD crowd.  You spawn quick but die fairly quick too.  I guess it will get better as you learn maps and unlock more toys to play with, but as of now, snipers and campers are what mainly dominating the map.

Anyone taken the bullet on this yet? I'm only interested in the SP portion, so I'm curious about the campaign...

Well, I only had little time to played up to chapter 2 in ACT1.  First impression: pretty fun corridor shooter, there is no jump, or at least I didn't discover where I can jump, it is all scriped to where you can jump over the obstacles, also you can not fall off from the edge, so very corridorish.  Visual is nice, Action is fast and furious, mixed with QTE (like leash pilot off the heli) and rail shooter sections.  Writing and voice acting are over the top as expected from various previews. Skill shooting are fun, it is great when screen filled with various kill shots points.  There is a spreadsheet like skill shots list you can check, I didn't bother to check, just discover all the fun skill shots by myself is planty fun. AI is not all smart and are tightly scripted, but discover new ways to kill them are fun, and there are plenty way to kill them with all the enviromental harzard.  Although I don't think it warrant the $60 price tag EPIC ask for. For me, I got from D2D, so for $44, it is not bad diversion shooter.

Graphics on my older spec. pc (c2d6600 @3.2ghz, 4gb, gtx260, etc)are nice, all setting maxed, no AA, average 30-40fps with slowdown in some areas. As expected from console port, it supports 360 pads for the PC, I used kb&m for control, it shares keys for function you do in the game which is weired, like "R" is both for reload and for using object, etc.,   I guess you can rebind keys, but I didn't try it.  Also I didn't experience any mouse accelaration issue or video stream issue I read on the steam forum, so YMMV.

also, Whip, Kick, BOOM!

Played 360 Demo, very fun game.

If you order through D2D, you can get this for $44 with "hailtothechief" code, much reasonable than the $60 EA is asking for.  I didn't realize this is a GFWL game before I ordered it through D2D.
23  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Homefront on: February 18, 2011, 04:38:43 PM
Just ordered this on D2D, since they have the 20% off "hailtothechief" sale, the code applies to all the pre-orders, which bring this down to $40, since this is a Steamwork game, so it should be no problem add this to Steam.

Ha, I did try reinstall memory chips, and clear CMOS trick and nothing, still has cold boot with no post problem, maybe it is this simple, will plug my monitor to other power outlet tonight to see if that helps.  (maybe my UPS is failing, who would thought of that??)  I was pulling my hair out last night, tried to figure out which failed, but somehow I was also secretly hoping for motherboard or CPU fail, so I can sweet talk my wife into let me upgrade this PC slywink.

Since it reset ok, it does look like power problem, thanks, Blackjack.  thumbsup

Edit to add:

Yeah, that's it, the UPS is not handling the load, after I only plugged in computer, it works fine, just not with monitor both turn on at the same time.  so now I just plug monitor to other outlet, and so far it seems working.  Next time, I will work on the simple stuff first before going opening the case.   icon_smile

Has anyone purchased things from the UbiStore before?  $25 for Settlers 7 Gold is approaching an acceptable price point for an excellent game hobbled by a punishing DRM scheme, but I don't know if purchases from their site comes with some insane monitoring software or a 24-hour download limit. disgust

-Autistic Angel

I bought Dawn of Discovery Gold for $10, Ubisoft online store is using digital river as their download service,  so you need to download the game within 30 days, or pay $5 for 2 yr download insurance.  The file downloaded can be backed up on the DVD, so I don't have any problem with that.

I guess for Settler 7, the new sucky DRM will apply.

What was to look at?  Based on the assumption that three of the four vehicles are doing what they are supposed to, the bike had green through the intersection, the bus had clearance for the right hand turn either on red or a green arrow, and the anvil car was stopped as it was supposed to.

Although I do wonder about the four spots that stay, then disappear from the original position of the anvil car.  I assume those are some artifacts of the traffic control system registering the car's position, but that's raw speculation.

This happened in Beijing, China on 5/9/2010, the tricycle rider was extremely lucky to be alive.  The white car is a FIAT made in China and was waiting for green light, the FIAT has no side airbag, it had 3 occupants, 2 adult and 1 baby, I think  mother broke both legs, may need amputation, both the father and baby died.  crybaby The Black car is an Infiniti G37 Sedan driven by rich drunk driver who raced through the street at 100km/hr (speed limit is 60 km/hr), but he and 3 other occupants survived with no injury.

Amazon is matching the deal Walmart has for xbox360 arcade this morning, you have to be quick though.  My guess is this deal will be gone under 1 min (maybe even less). once it is online, so good luck everyone.
