763  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Champions: Return to Arms thoughts? on: February 18, 2005, 10:06:45 PM
FWIW I am actually digging this game alot. Yes alot of it is familiar and some of it is repetitive and tough, but for pure hack and slash, this has all I need. So far game looks great and havent had 1 bug that I have noticed yet. I am on the Plane of Torment so I think I am pretty far into the game.
As far as the Medallion challenges, I skipped them early on but went back later after leveling up and so far they have been no problem. So far it's good enough to keep me coming back for more.
764  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Gamecube question on: February 18, 2005, 05:52:15 AM
Are there any known problems with buying a 3rd party memory card for GC? I know with the PS2 I bought one and you had to put a disc in before it would recognize the memory card. It was a pain in the ass. Any such things with GC?

767  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Need a little eBay help here. on: December 28, 2004, 09:46:28 PM
How did you ship it? Even the post office gives you a receipt.
As far as leaving feedback..the time has definately not expired after 3 weeks. If you dont have anyway of showing you actually shipped the item,
and assuming that you gave him the option to purchase delivery confirmation or insurance, there is not much to do other than try to let the guy know that since he opted to not purchase the insurance, then you are not responsible for items the post office dont deliver correctly. Either you or he can contact the post office where it was sent from and the post office that it was sent to to see if they can help. the label may have fell off or something...who knows. If you used Fedex or UPS, there should be info on the shipping. I think in order to fully try and help you, you need to supply more info. You are being a little vague on the shipping details. I have ALOT of experience with ebay and have been in just about every scenario, good and bad, buying and selling. I have managed to maintain a 100% rating through it all. I've dealt with some real asses, but if you deal with things the right way, it will work out. Give more details and I will try to help you resolve this if you want. Oh and by the way, why are you trying to leave feedback for him before you try to resolve this? Are you planning on leaving negative feedback just based on the fact that he's saying he hasnt gotten it yet? That seeems a little rash if true. Why the hurry to leave feedback? If you leave him negative first, you can be sure he's gonna leave negative for you. Since he hasnt yet, maybe he actually didnt get it.
It's your responsibility to either prove you sent it or prove that you offered insurance and he declined, making it his problem.
768  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / MGS 3...the game within a game within a movie (Spoilers?) on: December 22, 2004, 02:09:32 AM
Ya know I just saw that thread.....my gripes so far have been covered there. After reading that thread, I feel a little more at ease that the rest of the game will improve as far as cutscene vs. gameplay ratio.
769  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / MGS 3...the game within a game within a movie (Spoilers?) on: December 21, 2004, 10:14:13 PM
I've only scratched the surface of this game so far. I have just gotten the strategy guide, so I expect to start getting into it heavily very soon. But so far, I'm thinking...wtf? The game starts out as a game, pretty much plays as I thought it would, having played MGS 1. But just as I come to my first real confrontation, it goes into some HEAVY cinematics, takes me out of the gameplay completely and places me in the front row to sit by and watch the confrontation go down...without any input at all from me. Then it kinda puts me back in control...for a moment...only to roll opening credits...AGAIN...and basically starts the game over again. All this after a good hour into it. I dont know whats ahead, but so far the gameplay is good enough to keep me going for now. But if the rest of the game plays out like the first hour for me...I'll pass on the rest and wait for the movie to come out, which based on what I,ve seen so far would be an excellent movie, just not sure it makes for a good game..

772  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Any advice? on: December 10, 2004, 03:39:25 AM
For anyone interested, my kid came over and we had a talk. It seems that she was really surprised to learn she was doing worse than she thought so far this year. There may have bee a mixup, as her progress reports have showed different grades than her report card shows. She freaked when she got the report card. She still knows she is behind, but her concern is not graduating untill she's 20. After talking about it and agreeing to set up a meeting with her GC to see what is what and what it will take to get back on track, she started to see that giving up is not the way to handle this. We have agreed that she will continue to go to school and try to continue to get things on track. She will keep the car and her part-time job, as long as she is making an effort. If when the time comes to graduate, in a year and a half, we will see where she is. If we agree that staying in school an extra year will not help at that point, then we will talk about going the GED route. She seemed fine with this and after she left I called the ex to tell her the plan and insist on her full support. The ex had no problem with that. I did throw out the threat to both of them about taking the car back, and it seemed to hit home. So, I think it went as well as I could expect. No one knows what the future holds, but I'm glad she may have learned that quitting aint the way to handle it when things are going bad. Thanks for all your input.
773  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Any advice? on: December 09, 2004, 11:11:06 PM
Well my daughter will be here in about a half hour.
I talked to her GC at school today and it seems as if things have recently gone south. She was impressed by the fact that my daughter was trying the night school, summer school route and felt that even though she is way behind, if my daughter was willing to graduate a year late, there should be no problem. As to what she wants to do, I will find that out shortly. In terms of my ex not showing "tough love", she never has. Thats been left to me to be the bad guy all the time, which I have done to the best of my ability. My ex is on disability and struggles to get by. But most of my ex's problems come from the fact she is irresponsible and sucks with money and debt,(hence being my ex). She actually lost her last job for slugging a fellow employee (a guy). So I am afraid that the example she is setting for my daughter is overtaking my efforts to offset her behaviour. I have owned my own business for 6 years and have recently sold a house and bought a new one. I have been with my current girlfriend for 10 years. She sees what my hard work has gotten me and she sees what her mom's gotten out of her life. I felt she was intelligent enough to make the right choice. I may have been wrong. She spends way more time with mom than with me. But this fight is not over. I will try to find out what the problems are and what her attitude is about changing things. I'm gonna try and let her dictate the direction our discussion goes.
I'll listen. But if I dont like the way things are heading, I'm jumping in front of the train and trying to stop it. How...I have no idea yet. We''ll see shortly. Thanks all.
774  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Former Pantera (now Damageplan) guitarist shot dead on: December 09, 2004, 05:50:08 PM
Yea I've been reading that too.
If thats true, only goes to show how much of a retard the shooter was.
Anyone remotely familiar with Pantera knows that DD didnt break them up. Phil did. DD lived for Pantera and was as confused as anyone as to why Phil ended it like he did. No annoucement or warning to anyone, including the band. He just walked away. What ever the reason the loser had for shooting up a crowd will never, ever justify loss of innocent lives. Damageplan were due to play a free concert for kids here in Chicago on Friday. All you needed to get in was a new toy. The toys were gonna be donated to needy children. Merry f'ing Christmas.

777  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Any advice? on: December 09, 2004, 07:43:15 AM
I am divorced with a 17yr old daughter that I love dearly and am very close to. She is a great kid, but her mom aint the best influence. I have tried to stay involved in her life as much as possible and I see her a few times a week. Any parent (divorced or not) can relate to how hard it is to stay a part of a teenagers life. But she has been great so far. She has been doing not so good in school, but going to summer and night school to try and catch up. A month ago she got her first job. So her days consisted of school M-F., night school on Tues and Thurs, and work on Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat. Quite the schedule for anyone. Well 3 weeks ago, to help ease the burden I bought her a used car. She was ecstatic. She will help pay for car insurance with her job. After 2 weeks, she told me she was gonna quit night school, as it was too much for her to handle with work and all. She wanted some time for herself. Fair enough. She said she would try to make it up, but worse case she may have to graduate high school late. I was not thrilled about this, but was glad she was making the effort. Well tonight I find out she got her report card and it wasnt good. She has dug herself a big hole. And she is talking about dropping out. I am stunned. I have tried to stay involved without being overbearing. Her mom is sorta self involved and indifferent. But thats who she lives with. I am the opposite by nature and am a control freak. But I tried to let my daughter make her own decisions and find her own way, while always letting her know I would be there and help her as much as I could when she needed it. But I am wondering if I have been naive. It seems that after I bought her the car, all of this came on. I have always asked her how school was going and got the obligitory "fine" answer.
I knew she wasnt doing great, but thought she was trying and things were getting better. She says she was surprised to find out she was doing bad again this year and vfeels that trying to salvage graduating is useless. As she put it, she would be 19 before she graduates HS, but she could get her G.E.D. at 18. I dont know what to do at this point. I could come down hard and let her know how disappointed I am. I could take the car back, thereby making a bad situation worse. I just dont know. If anyone has any similar experiences they could share, or some advice, I'm sure it would be helpful.
778  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Former Pantera (now Damageplan) guitarist shot dead on: December 09, 2004, 07:25:36 AM
For any metalheads out there, this is indeed a sad, sad day.
Dimebag Darrell, (lead guitarist for Pantera and Damageplan) was shot, along with 4 others, at a Damageplan concert in Columbus tonight. Unconfirmed reports are one of the others shot may be Vinny Paul, Dimebags brother and bandmate in both Pantera and Damageplan. So far it seems to be confirmed that Dimebag and the shooter are for sure 2 of the deceased. What a scum. Pantera were a huge influence on me. Damageplan was to play here (Chicago) on Friday. I have met Dimebag before and despite the rough exterior, he was a exceptional human being, kind and considerate. He lived for music and he died doing what he loved. I am so, so bummed. R.I.P to all involved...except for the lowlife shooter....there's a place in Hell waiting for him.

I have a used CoH. The trial is expired. I will trade for a more recent game and supply all account info. I am doing this here first instead of selling it on ebay because i think people here will have a better understanding of what they are getting and what system requirements are needed to run it. So again I have all original materials and will supply my account info. You can change the info after you get it and will need to supply payment info to them.

785  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 vs Vampire on: December 02, 2004, 11:33:18 PM
Man..wtf is the deal with sites not having forums for their games?
I freakin hate having to find other sites to get support for games.
Is this just their way to avoid having to deal with potential problems or what? I should be able to go to a publishers site and talk and get info about THEIR games. I am thankful for places like this to come to, cause I did find a link to a Vampires site(dilapidation), but come on....whats the deal.

Yea that's right Troika... I'm looking at you, boy.
786  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 vs Vampire on: December 02, 2004, 08:01:23 PM
Yea, that was it.
I updated the driver for my video card and all is well.
I kept ignoring the popup when starting HL2 that told me my driver was outdated. Never had any problem with HL2 running, so I thought I would be o.k. with Vampire. There are some minor graphical glitches in Vampire, but nothing game-stopping so far. My original concern was that both games were gonna be FPS. But so far Vampires seems different enough from HL2 that I should be able to play both at the same time, without fear of burning out on either one.
787  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 vs Vampire on: December 02, 2004, 07:12:45 AM

788  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 vs Vampire on: December 02, 2004, 03:41:07 AM
O.K. here's the deal.
I have been playing HL2 since it came out. I am about 2/3 through (I think). I dont usually have alot of time to indulge myself with games as much as I would like to. So I am getting alittle bored by HL2, as is such the case with most games I play. I can count on 1 hand how many games I have actually finished. That being said, Vampires has been sitting unopened for about a week, waiting. I have had no issues with HL2 as far as performance. I have been reading about the problems some people are having with Vampires. As far as game play, how similar are the 2 games? If I start Vampires while still playing HL2 and being kinda bored with it, do you think it will hurt my enjoyment of Vampires (if it runs o.k. for me)?

Cant wait to see the nerd turf wars breakout at this.
Someone punches Gabe as he is excepting his award for biggest

Should be great.

Hey Gryndyl,
They must have heard us biggrin
Forums appear to be back up.
I am happy. I have a sick fascination with reading about problems people are having and what is being done to help them. It helps me to form an opinion on companies and the games they make and support.
Oh and I hope you wont need the forums either.

O.K. I am an idiot
It appears that when the forums reach a certain amount of users or hits,
it shuts down till bandwidth clears, or something like that. So i guess occasionly it will appear to be down. My bad.
791  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Half-Life 2 Impressions (Possible Spoilers) on: November 16, 2004, 05:42:20 PM
Well first of all I have already downloaded and unlocked HL2, as I was one of those who stayed up to do so.
Secondly, I understand that the forums are on a different server. My point was, I dont think the forums would be "taking a breather" if the place was getting bombarded with positive comments. I am just assuming there are alot of people having problems and for Valve to take down the forums is not an appropriate thing to do so soon. Think if you were having a problem. Would you appreciate that? And FWIW, I so far have seen no glaring problems. The occasional graphics glitch, but nothing major. I havent gotten far enough to give my full impression yet, but so far am impressed. I went to the forum to see if there were any tweaks I could do to get it to run a little smoother.

Bought this yesterday. So far it seems good. Animations are good, but sometimes with the camera angles it gets hard to see whats going on untill ya topple some buildings. And at the end of the first chapter I cant quite figure out what to do. To start I think you can choose 8 out of 20 monsters. I havent gotten very far yet, but if you can only unlock one after finishing the arcade mode, it's gonna take a long time to unlock all.
BTW, anyone get this to work with HD Loader?

I need some help. Which cable should I buy to get the most out of my PS2, XBox, and dvd player?. I have a 56" Rca HDTV monitor. Right now I have everything plugged in using standard cables. The manual says that the cables it can use are A/V, Coaxial, S-Video, Component Video, and DVI_HDTV cable. I guess what I'm looking for is if there is one cable that will help out for all my components. Or if I need seperate cables for the different things. Any help is appreciated, but please try to keep it simple as possible.... biggrin
