Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Anyone get UEFA Euro 2004?

I was wondering if there has been any mention of modding this game? The mods for FIFA are outstanding, but I have read it is a bit limited in that you just play the EURO tournament. Is this the case here or did I just read that wrong?
How does this game compare to the FIFA games from this year and years past? Is it just a different license on the same engine/gameplay similar to what EA did with FIFA 2002 and FIFA World Cup 2002?
Basically I am wondering if I should go with this or with the usual FIFA update. I haven't tried WE or the others, but like you I am just a casual observer that enjoys the video games versions.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / NFL for Xbox: Maddedn vs. ESPN

I think Sega sports games, having securing the ESPN license, will become more popular. When people not "in the know" go to buy a pigskin game they know the Madden brand. They had probably been burned by some shoddy off-brand games in the past, so why try again? ESPN raises the profile on the Sega titles immensely. That's how I see it anyway.
That said, with Madden on Live this year it might be even harder for Sega. At least they don't have to compete with the MS title, which might have siphoned sales from the anti-Madden crowd.
People on GG soured on the ESPN NHL game, which I purchased soley because of Live play, instead going with MS's Rivals. That didn't help my impression of the ESPN franchise, unfortunately.
Personally I am looking forward to NCAA 2005 on the Xbox with Live this year. If Sega had an ESPN NCAA football game I would be thrilled to death. This year I don't think I have to worry about picking between ESPN or Madden.

And I just finished scouring the ends of the earth to find my copy!
According to the article the game is being re-released on May 25th for those that didn't locate a copy and still want one.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The new consoles of E3

I think the ability for the DS to play GBA games is a big benifit. I don't think I am sold on the dual screen aspect, but the backwards compatibility feature kept me from writing it off entirely. If two screens were that great we would all be running two monitors. The stylus, no thanks. Gimmick!!!
The PSP is a sweet looking piece of gear. Wheter I am looking to drop $250-300 is another question. Particularly with a new media format to look forward to. I am still interested in seeing more, though. Sony is drooling at the prospect of selling me all my games, music, and movies all over again on their little propriatory discs.
I could care less about the nGage. If I had a regular cell phone that could play those games I would take notice. I'm not buying a giant phone to play games on. That's what the GBA is for. I like a small cell phone that I carry in my pocket and don't notice.
The DISCover and Ape? Not at all interested. Why should I be, I have a PC.
Phantom. I don't like subscriptions and not owning the physical product (games). As it is, buy it cheap for parts.

You had absolutely no idea how old I felt when I visited that place on Thursday, as I had played quite a few of the consoles there during my life so far. The best part? They had most of the consoles actually hooked up and playable just a few feet away. Such an amazing throwback to videogaming history.
I feel the same way. I remember being a kid looking in the game store window and dreaming of being rich enough to afford a TurboDuo with the TV tuner. Before getting a NES I would fall asleed dreaming of Super Mario Bros. My first GameBoy!!! It was a walk down memory lane just seeing some of that stuff. I'm not quite Colecovision old, but I feel it. Five or six console generations later... CGE2K4, the site for the Classic Gaming Expo, which put on the display. Thanks again. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise!

I just wanted to thank the person responsible for the "Old School" pics in the E3 gallery. Excellent stuff there. The museum undoubtedly has a website which I am about to search for. Thanks!

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Game Boy Advance-Worth it?

The GBA is probably my favorite system (well, behind my Sega Saturn), but that is because of the games available. I like the little time-wasting puzzle games for a brief diversion, but mostly I like the old-school 2D games.
2D is dead when it comes to the new consoles. I still like the "1994 games" even if I must play them on a tiny screen. I imagine if I had a GC and a GBA player I would be in heaven!
So maybe I am just old school. It's not like I don't like my Xbox and PS2, I just have a soft spot in my heart for the lost art of 2D with trivial things like "game play." As I said, the Saturn is still my favorite system. It really sucked at 3D compared to the others, but nothing is better at 2D. Well, maybe the NeoGeo...
Oh, and my GBA doesn't leave the house. I originally bought it for jury duty, but I fell in love.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Booth Babes- Methinks Thou Can Do Better

You know when professional sports undergoes expansion and people start crowing about how the number of quality of players on the field is diluted? Well this seems to be a big problem at E3.
While some are certainly nice to check out, it appears that many of the "booth babes" have been working E3 since the 8-bit era.*
Judging from the pics I have seen here and other places there is more silicone at E3 than silicon. I don't like fake boobs.
*Yeah, I know it hasn't been going on that long, but you get the point.
