Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [TV] Eureka Christmas episode

Anyone catch this? I thought it was great. The characters get the CGI, cartoon, claymation and anime treatment. I liked the cartoon and anime versions best. All in all, a fun episode. Pretty sad next season will be the last.

I thought we resolved the spoiler issue pages ago when I complained about them. It was decided that you shouldn't come into the thread unless you've seen that week's episode. All spoiler tags would be used for the comics because they could diverge from the TV show.
If you would like to discuss the comic series, then create a seperate thread since it's not the same as the TV series. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that the spoilers are regarding the TV show since the thread title directly refers to that. This. I've never read the comic, but I watch the TV series. Or make your spoilers clearer: ...blah blah blah, but in the comic...

I wish the story would pick up. It's really dragging at this point. Shane and Daryl are the only characters now I'm interested in. Rick the limp-wristed voice of reason is boring me. Bring in zombie Merle and Otis. Maybe the whole next season will be devoted to them being holed up in an apartment complex while they look for feminine hygiene products for Lori.

Saw a good South Korean film "Castaway on the Moon". It's a quirky movie where a suicidal guy gets stranded on an island that's just off the city. He can see the city from his island, and there's even a bridge over the island, but he can't swim and can't communicate with anyone so he's stuck there. He has to learn to survive there (ala Tom Hanks "Castaway"). A woman in the city who is an agoraphobic sees him on the island through her camera and becomes obsessed with watching him survive there. She also wants to communicate with him but its a bit difficult when you have a hard time even leaving your room. It's the oddest relationship I've seen in a film but somehow works because both people are damaged.
It's a fun creative film and interesting throughout as you don't know where its going to go. The actor that plays the guy on the island puts in a really good performance too. So if you're looking for something slightly different this is it.
I was pleasantly surprised by this as well. His elation of creating his was strangely touching. I watched Morning Glory recently and thought it was pretty funny. You've got curmudgeonly Harrison Ford and perky Rachel McAdams in it.

Just finished it yesterday. Overall it was a polished, well-paced and beautifully crafted game - another feather in Naughty Dog's cap. However, I still enjoyed U2 better. I can't really explain it, but it felt like something was missing in this 3rd entry. In having you explore the history and evolution of the relationship between Nate and Scully and in delving into the psyche and what drives Nate in being who he is, I felt like some part of the story got lost in that attempt. I actually felt a bit more connected with the characters in the 2nd game - probably because they got more gameplay time with me (as opposed to just cut scene time). U2 was kind of like Raiders and Temple of Doom where you were sharing a buddy adventure with Indy, whereas U3 was like Last Crusade where you felt like the 3rd wheel in Indy and his father's adventure.
Some of the firefights got really tedious and a couple of the chapters just felt like filler, like they needed some story contrivance to shoe-in some new tech or level design they thought would be cool. I found the set pieces in U2 to be more memorable. One of the coolest parts in U2 was recycled here as well (albeit with the addition of some equine assistance). The game needed a couple more chapters. It felt like when you finally got to the end, it all just ended abruptly and anticlimactically.
Overall, I enjoyed it. Uncharted remains one of my favorite game series and I'm excited to see what new IP ND tackles.

The archery in this game is pretty satisfying. I didn't think I'd be using it much, but stalking a fort or encampment and silently sniping guys down left and right as they appear feels great.

Anyone else think male voice 1 that you can choose in character creation sounds exactly like Agent Sterling from Archer?
Kind of. I went with the male British accent. It seemed to fit my chubby Zach Galifianakis looking (but ended looking like Chuck Norris) character.

I picked this up today. It looks like crazy and ridiculous, nonsensical fun. It should be a nice diversion from the epic adventuring I'm doing in Skyrim.

I think I'm putting this away for a while after this past weekend. I finished saving the last Riddler hostage, but can't muster up any motivation to fully complete his side mission (or the AR training side mission). The challenge rooms are fun if, especially the combat ones, if you just want to pummel an army of guys from time to time, but I don't have an inclination to get high scores for either the predator or combat challenges.
I thought the game was really well done and enjoyed it a lot, but what with two major releases out this week, my time with AC comes to a close. Rocksteady has put together a fantastic follow-up to AA and it's well worth the price.

Wasn't that Devil in the elevator thing an okay movie?
On topic - I loved Cloverfield and kinda liked Bare Witches as well. The new Chronicle actually looks interesting as well.
Bare Witches? Was this on Skinemax recently? And Devil was pretty bad, in both concept and execution. Who had a brain fart and thought it a good idea to greenlight a Shamalamadingdong movie about a group of people trapped in an elevator?

Just saw it. Looks like mostly modern, contemporary California-ish setting to me. Having now just watched it, I'm not really any more excited than when it was first announced.

After careful consideration I've decided I'm going to wait until after my weekend trip to pick this one up. NO SPOILERS, ASSHOLES.
The biggest ones have already been revealed here. Sully is a woman and Elena was a man. Drake's deception? Indeed. For all his street smarts he didn't even notice Elena's adam's apple and hairy knuckles.

The graphics are completely disgusting. The worst I've ever seen on any PS3 game. The characters have pointy elbows, glassy/waxy faces and soulless eyes. They also animate like they're having seizures and the voice actors clearly phoned in their lines.

I beat the game and the final cat woman mission is afterwards, but I am stuck on the mission and can't find a way to get back to open world roaming with Batman...is there a way to do it without finishing the cat woman story?
If you're already in the museum, then I think you have to complete it. After you're done, then it takes you back to the open city.

I beat the game this past weekend as well. The ending was anticlimactic and unfulfilling, to me at least. I may revisit the game and do story+ in the future, but I'm skipping the Riddler stuff and shelving this for a bit. It was definitely a blast though.

Didn't see a thread on this, but AMC's got a new western show called Hell on Wheels. When I first saw an ad for it, for some reason I totally thought it was a Red Dead Redemption TV show. Looks like it could be good.

I was getting my butt laminated by 20-25 Tyger guards last night before I shut the game off (playing on normal). The battles can get a bit frustrating (especially with multiple enemy types crowding you), but when I retry them differently and win, it was always because I didn't fully utilize Batman's awesome fighting skill/gadgets optimally. The multiple counters are cool to see and some battles it just looks like Batman is flying to every corner of the room dispatching guys left and right.
There's a sequence in the Penguin's museum where you take on a f*$@ ton of enemies at once, the most I've seen thus far. Is there another battle like this? The later ones were smaller but had specialized enemy types. I think this one section had the most guys in one battle at once. I haven't even touched any of the unlocked Riddler challenge rooms yet.

Thanks for the invite to the car club. You guys have amassed some pretty sweet rides. I'm wanting to jump back into the game, but with Arkham City, Battlefield 3 out now and Uncharted 3 coming up, time is scarce.

I think they went way overboard with the Riddler stuff. More was not necessarily better here. I like the riddles but the trophies are clearly for sadomasochistic completionists. I still can't figure out some of the ones with the multiple pressure plates in random locations. Some require gadgets you get later on, obviously (like the line launcher), but others look only possible with gadgets I've created in my own mind and might not exist in the game. I finally took on

If we're still talking about the game, I'm liking it a lot. Adored the first one. Just finished up the Zsasz side mission last night. The advanced AR training bits are pretty tough and the Riddler stuff is tricky and well crafted/concealed. I can take or leave the Catwoman missions, but it's nice to play a slightly different, if not mostly similar, experience.
I got all the Riddler content in first game, and I fear I may lose some hair trying to complete all the Riddler ones in this game. But I'm loving every minute if it so far.
