81  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Are You Stepping Into the Next Gen? on: February 01, 2013, 07:20:57 PM
I wish I could get into games on my phone. I'd save a ton of money. Most of them are horrendous to play due to the virtual control pad/buttons. I'll stick to my 3DS.
82  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Are You Stepping Into the Next Gen? on: February 01, 2013, 06:13:26 PM
I can't completely say at this point I won't get one of the two systems but I'm confident I'll wait until the first revision before jumping in.

My concerns are the continued focus on DLC and micro transactions. Will Microsoft continue to have a pay wall for multiplayer? Will games finally reach the point of being fully cinematic, play themselves affairs? I mainly play XBLA games right now with the occasional AAA release. I typically get more value from a $15 game than I do a $60 one that is essentially an interactive cut scene. I'm not sure I'm really interested in the current direction of modern video games.

Unfortunately I'm impulsive and a sucker for the latest and greatest gadgets I become bored with weeks after buying them. frown

Some local multiplayer with my son in Skulls of the Shogun and Minecraft.

9/10

After reading their review it seems to be a bit more in depth than I first thought. May end up biting for the local multi alone.
85  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Skulls of the Shogun on: January 30, 2013, 06:18:47 PM
I've played through the trial on XBLA a couple times today and I'm on the fence with it. While the hand drawn art and humorous dialog is charming, I'm unsure of its long term appeal. There really isn't a whole lot to it.

At five bucks as a mobile app, I'd definitely grab it but $15 seems a bit steep.
86  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (01/28) on: January 28, 2013, 07:57:47 PM
Skulls on XBLA.
87  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Gaming Trend's Most Anticipated of 2013 on: January 25, 2013, 07:06:12 AM
Lots of great potential in that list. I'm really only interested in Bioshock Infinite and possibly Gta V but I'm sure I'll end up playing a few more of them at some point.
88  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/360/Ps3]Far Cry 3 Reviews are coming in! on: December 05, 2012, 02:38:46 AM
I'm totally enamored with this game. Gotta get up at 4 am for work but it's hard to stop playing. I think I've put in three hours already and it says I'm only 5% complete. Good stuff.

The gun sounds are sooooo  good.   icon_eek
89  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/12) on: November 12, 2012, 07:23:55 PM
I bought Halo 4 last week in hopes the MP would last me through the rest of the year but I don't care for it at all.

So.. BLOPS2.
90  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (10/29) on: October 30, 2012, 08:26:37 PM
Nada. Forza Horizon is keeping my attention nicely, at least until Halo next week.
91  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PC/PS3] XCOM: Enemy Unknown on: October 12, 2012, 08:32:00 PM
This is pretty much the best game of the generation. I've really been soured on gaming these past two years or so but then a game like this hits and reinvigorates my interest in the hobby.
92  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3/Wii] The Amazing Spider-Man - GT Review is up! on: June 26, 2012, 08:56:12 PM
Its pretty fun. Definitely a rental unless youre a big Spiderman fan. The Arkham games are obviously a huge influence for the developer.
93  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Are any of the comic superhero games good (other than Arkham)? on: June 26, 2012, 08:18:16 PM
The new Spiderman game is good. Not as good as the Arkham games but definitely worth renting at least.
94  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3]Ghost Recon Future Soldier on: June 12, 2012, 01:19:46 PM
I <3 this game. Both the campaign and multiplayer kick serious ass. Just wish they'd iron out the lag issues.
95  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Prometheus (previously Alien the Prequel) on: June 08, 2012, 09:29:58 PM
Just got back from seeing it. I'm greatly disappointed with it as a big fan of the Alien films but I also thought it was a decent sci-fi film. Just temper your expectations and you'll likely enjoy it.

They just don't make movies like they used to.  mad
96  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Torchlight 2! on: May 20, 2012, 11:44:40 PM
I enjoyed the beta but it's no where near as good as Diablo 3. Too little too late I'm afraid. frown
97  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: May 16, 2012, 08:24:29 PM
Level 15 on Monk now. I am IN LOVE with this game. I don't want to have to go back to work!
98  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: May 16, 2012, 03:45:13 AM
Just got booted. Kinda urks me that Im being disconnected from a game Im playing in single player. Got to level 8 and I like it quite a bit but it's not grabbing me like the first two did. I may just chalk that up to my being older and less enthused with video games but I honestly feel like it's missing something. It's certainly far too streamlined and the voice acting/story is a little goofy.

Gonna try to go back in for a little more time with it...

...or not. Bnet is down.
99  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Diablo III --Impressions start on page 36 -- on: May 16, 2012, 02:02:55 AM
Just got home with a copy and Im chilling to the installation music. So pumped. Im a huge fan of the first two and I havent followed much of the thirds development nor played the beta. Going in a complete virgin.  Tongue
100  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XBLA]Minecraft on: May 10, 2012, 01:01:57 AM
Runs so much smoother on the 360. One of the reasons I abandoned playing it on PC was the constant stuttering. Drove me mad.

The addition of split screen is great.
101  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: April 25, 2012, 08:15:26 PM
I'm glad you're able to customize the UI. The default is far too busy. The 22nd can't get here quick enough. I want this game!
102  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [XBLA]Trials Evolution on: April 25, 2012, 12:42:51 AM
This is my early GOTY. Love it.
103  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Prototype 2 on: April 24, 2012, 06:14:10 PM
I rented it from a Redbox. Never played the original but I've played Infamous and it's pretty similar. Nasty screen tearing and uneven framerate in the Xbox version but that's the case in a lot of games recently.

So far I'm digging it. The powers and gameplay overall is a lot of fun but I can see it becoming extremely repetitive later on. There is little variety in the missions. Basically they serve as an excuse to run, jump, and fly around killing things.
104  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: April 24, 2012, 03:19:57 PM
Loved the demo but it's literally 10 minutes long. Gonna be a long wait for the release.
105  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (04/23) on: April 23, 2012, 11:43:37 PM
Nada. Dark Souls, Trials Evolution, and the Dragons Dogma demo should keep me busy for awhile.
106  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on: April 19, 2012, 02:31:22 PM
Aside from the typical jank European developed Rpg's are known for, this is an excellent game. Definitely the best story I've witnessed in a video game. The dialogue is needlessly crude at times but it has its own charm within the world they've created. I'd likely compare it to A Game of Thrones with all the politics and morally gray areas the characters work within.

The menu system is a bit unrefined and combat isn't as engaging as I'd like but I enjoy the signs system as well as alchemy and traps. Overall, I'd say it's the best Rpg I've played in years and I hope it's a commercial success for a developer who's obviously got a clue about presenting an actual interesting story while managing to keep the actual game fun to play.
107  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on: April 17, 2012, 05:14:47 AM
Well, I decided I'd brave my local Walmart and while it took the lady 20 minutes to find the game in the back, I'm installing now. The packaging is pretty sweet. Wasn't expecting the soundtrack, a quest handbook and map in a standard edition.
108  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Released) - Now With Reviews/Impressions on: March 01, 2012, 01:43:55 AM
The items get better at higher levels. Saw an epic suit that increased tricky time for example. I just bought a mystery suit for 60k credits and all it does is glow.  retard

The deadly descents are the only blemish on an otherwise enjoyable game. Seriously, the avalanche and oxygen survival trials had me shaking my head in disbelief. Horrible game design.
109  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Released) - Now With Reviews/Impressions on: February 29, 2012, 09:56:37 PM
The global events multiplayer system is awesome. I can see myself playing this game for a long time to come.
110  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Released) - Now With Reviews/Impressions on: February 28, 2012, 09:42:28 PM
I really don't like the survival parts at all.
111  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 28, 2012, 02:16:38 PM
Considering the review scale for most sites is 6-10 there is a huge disparity between a 7 and a 9. It's averaging an 80% so far which is about what I expected. The 5 hour world your is disappointing but I'm primarily interested in the ridernet competition anyways.
112  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 28, 2012, 01:04:11 PM
Edge 5
Game Informer 7.75
Eurogamer 9

Scores all over the place...
113  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (02/27) on: February 27, 2012, 09:26:55 PM
SSX 360 for me.
114  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 27, 2012, 09:04:43 PM
That's good to know. While I've played every game in the series, I'm getting old and don't have the patience for failing to progress at a steady rate anymore.  Roll Eyes Definitely picking it up tomorrow.

Anyone else planning on getting it feel free to add me on Live for some ridernet competition. Bshock79
115  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 27, 2012, 06:37:43 PM
Took several hours of playing the demo before I was able to gold medal JT2. I'm still only getting 4-5 mil on Bulldog. I'm assuming the retail release will be slightly less challenging as the peaks in the demo surely aren't for beginners.

Great game, though. Usually I'd have deleted it in disgust within a hour, but I'm driven to become good at it.
116  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Wii] Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword on: November 30, 2011, 10:39:43 PM
There is plenty of magic. It's a fantastic game. Nintendo doesnt need voice acting, HD graphics, or mature themes to craft quality games. They're always going to be behind Sony and MS technology wise but they'll continue to do what they've always done and I'll be content with that.
117  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: It's Thanksgiving. What's Your GOTY? on: November 23, 2011, 11:59:11 PM
Super Mario Land 3D with Skyrim the runner-up. Havent played Zelda yet and Uncharted 3 was very disappointing. frown
118  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Weekend Playlist -- 11/18/11 on: November 19, 2011, 01:20:24 AM
Gonna be super busy working this weekend but what time I do have will be spent with Super Mario Land.
119  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Super Mario 3D Land on: November 18, 2011, 11:50:02 PM
This is maybe the best handheld game i've ever played. Really good stuff.
120  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 18, 2011, 02:03:29 AM
Glitchy mess or not, I keep coming back to Skyrim. No game released this year comes close to how good it is.
