Thanks for the recommendations. Ordered Lords of the Waterdeep and Mr Jack. I'll probably end up getting quite a few more to throw into the rotation after I see if she'll continue to play on a regular basis.

Ok, so my wife doesn't like video games and I'd love to be able to include her in my gaming interest. Enter board games.
This weekend I bought Ticket to Ride and Forbidden Island. Both were very easy to learn but I had to go over the rules quite a few times before she got grasp of them. Once she did we had a blast playing. Can you guys recommend any other games along the lines of those two (coop or competitive) that aren't overly complicated to learn?
I just ordered the Lord of the Rings LCG but that will be something my son and I play I'm sure.

Finished in 10 hours at 73% completion. It's a fun ride but my interest started to wane about mid way through after the honeymoon phase with the presentation.
Video games are interactive movies for the most part now. I've accepted that. However, once the spectacle wears thin, we need some solid writing to keep us enthralled!

I'm at 37% after roughly 4 hours play. Haven't been going out of my way to hunt down the hidden items so I'm sure that would have added a significant amount of play to my total.
One thing is for sure, though. The game is ridiculously easy. I've died maybe twice in combat so far playing on Normal.

I've heard this one has a significant reliance on quick-time events, is that true? Would you say that it would be too annoying for somebody that generally hates QTEs?
There's been a few QTE sequences a few hours in. I'm not a fan of them myself but they haven't bothered me. If you happen to fail one it restarts you a few seconds before them.

This game. It's like Resident Evil 4 and Uncharted had a love child. The atmosphere is incredible. Reminds me a little of the show Lost.
For those that have tried the multiplayer, is it worth resubbing to Live to play?

Finally sitting down to play it now. About a hour in and I'm blown away. The visuals are amazing and I'm digging the game play mechanics thus far.
This could be a contender!

Got lucky and someone canceled their pre order at Game stop so I was able to grab a copy of Etrian Odyssey. Best Buy told me they weren't even carrying it in-store. Guess it'll be another rare Atlus release.
Another argument for digital! I downloaded it this morning without having to go to any stores to be told they don't have it or I should have preordered it. I would have bought it on the Eshop but I wanted the art book (hardly an art book, a leaflet more like) and the soundtrack.

Rented this from Redbox and my son and I finished it I'm coop in about five hours. Don't really have anything much to say that the dismal reviews haven't already said.
We did have a lot of laughs throughout the campaign over the various glitches and sheer absurdity pf the story and voice acting. Tried out the multiplayer a couple of times but it's just as awful.

A new Aliens game developed by Gearbox? Would have been an impulse purchase before the flood of negative opinions from people that got it early. Take a look at some of the game play videos people have made up on YouTube. It looks pretty bad.

Definitely an early goty contender for me. Up to Chapter 5 on Normal/Classic and I have no complaints. A must have for fans of the series and it's probably the best one to jump into for newcomers with the addition of a casual mode.
The stylistic choice to having no feet on the characters is odd but it hardly interferes with my enjoyment. Hope this sells well so we continue to get them localized.

I can't completely say at this point I won't get one of the two systems but I'm confident I'll wait until the first revision before jumping in. My concerns are the continued focus on DLC and micro transactions. Will Microsoft continue to have a pay wall for multiplayer? Will games finally reach the point of being fully cinematic, play themselves affairs? I mainly play XBLA games right now with the occasional AAA release. I typically get more value from a $15 game than I do a $60 one that is essentially an interactive cut scene. I'm not sure I'm really interested in the current direction of modern video games. Unfortunately I'm impulsive and a sucker for the latest and greatest gadgets I become bored with weeks after buying them.

I've played through the trial on XBLA a couple times today and I'm on the fence with it. While the hand drawn art and humorous dialog is charming, I'm unsure of its long term appeal. There really isn't a whole lot to it.
At five bucks as a mobile app, I'd definitely grab it but $15 seems a bit steep.

Just got booted. Kinda urks me that Im being disconnected from a game Im playing in single player. Got to level 8 and I like it quite a bit but it's not grabbing me like the first two did. I may just chalk that up to my being older and less enthused with video games but I honestly feel like it's missing something. It's certainly far too streamlined and the voice acting/story is a little goofy.
Gonna try to go back in for a little more time with it...
...or not. Bnet is down.

Runs so much smoother on the 360. One of the reasons I abandoned playing it on PC was the constant stuttering. Drove me mad.
The addition of split screen is great.
