As much as I love this game, I'm going to have to put it aside until a patch is released. My save game file has reached 10 megs and the frame rate/load times have become unbearable. I've also had my PS3 hard lock twice as well as numerous occasions of getting stuck in spots and having to reload saves. The game is great but there are too many other games vying for attention to put up with this junk.

I caved and picked up Rayman. The guy at EB hadn't even heard of it.  icon_lol
123  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 15, 2011, 07:03:46 PM
Over 30 hours in and I feel like I've just scratched the surface. Level 18 and I'm starting to dabble into enchanting and alchemy. There's an overwhelming amount of content in this game. Keep getting sidetracked.

Edit: Game is starting to get a very unstable framerate and slow load times on PS3. Guess Beth still haven't figured out how to develop on the console.
124  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/14) on: November 14, 2011, 09:03:29 PM
Rayman demo was solid but I think I have my plate full with Skyrim for quite awhile.
125  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 12, 2011, 10:10:59 PM
I couldn't get into Fallout 3 or Oblivion. I've put over 20 hours into Skyrim thus far and ready to declare GOTY. Just an amazing game through and through. It's definitely not as polished as Id like but hopefully a few patches will resolve some of my issues.
126  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 11, 2011, 07:36:10 AM
First impression is excellent. The sound design stands out more than anything. The music is amazing. During the intro I had some framerate issues but they seem to have disappeared now I've gone my own way. Graphically, it's very hit and miss. Textures aren't the greatest but the environments are gorgeous and the weather effects are outstanding. The shadows look awful but I'm not very picky about the technical things. As long as there aren't any major bugs, I'm good to go for awhile with this one I think.

The combat isn't much different from Oblivion. It still feels like you aren't making contact with enemies when you swing but the slomo kill cam is a pretty neat addition from Fallout. Over all it works and I'm sure it will open up a bit more when I get dragon shouts but it's definitely not a selling point for the game. Ps3 version, btw.

Edit: I need sleep but this game is ridiculously awesome. Just went through my first dungeon and you can tell it was hand crafted. Really good stuff.

Huge line outside the local Gamestop. Sucks as its quite cold out. I just walked into Walmart and picked it up at the counter with no wait.  icon_cool

Is it just me or is the aiming a lot more difficult in this one? I have a 35% accuracy through Chapter 9 because I cant hit the broad side of a barn.

I've been watching the videos and I'm thoroughly impressed, the only thing holding me back from playing is my distaste for the Wii. Shitty console barrier aside, I think Zelda is going to be an amazing gaming experience.

Yeah, I hate the controller and waggle in general, but gotta take the good with the bad when it comes to a Zelda game. I'm sure it will be great despite the crap that is the Wii.
131  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Wii] Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword on: October 29, 2011, 08:06:35 PM
Never been a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series so this will be my big release of the year. I'm miffed it comes out two days AFTER my vacation ends. Sigh. crybaby
132  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360 Review] Rage on: October 05, 2011, 08:44:53 PM
Every first run copy of the game is the Anarchy Edition. It's not limited to pre orders.
133  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360 Review] Rage on: October 05, 2011, 12:28:52 PM
Great review. I definitely agree it's an awesome game. My son and I love the coop missions. I wish the racing wasn't limited to online only but other than that,  thumbsup.

Jackal Canyon video is sweet. Getting really amped up for the game now.

The card collecting game sounds pretty neat, too.

I haven't bought or played a game in about 5 months. This is probably the only one I'm looking forward to this year other than Torchlight 2.
136  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Runespell: Overture on: July 20, 2011, 11:31:17 PM
I bought it after trying out the demo. Definitely a good time waster.

Dungeon Siege 3
Torchlight 2

Also, it's really nothing like Minecraft at all.

Are you kidding?  The basic mechanics and concepts seem like an almost direct 2D version of Minecraft.

Because you can dig and build a house? Terraria is more of a "game" than Minecraft. There's a lot more to do than just building a fortress or spelling your name out in blocks.

It's more similar to Castlevania or Metroid than it is Minecraft, IMO.
139  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Terraria- Minecraft type game, sideways, and more game. On Steam now. on: May 17, 2011, 08:17:25 PM
This is up there with Cave Story as one of the best indie released games. If they tone down the monster spawn rate and continually release content updates, I could see myself getting a lot of play time with it.

Also, it's really nothing like Minecraft at all.
140  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Terraria- Minecraft type game, sideways, and more game. On Steam now. on: May 17, 2011, 01:27:02 AM
Loving it so far. The initial loading time is very excessive on my machine for some reason. Takes like 5 minutes to boot up the world.

Edit: It's quite funny how today is the first time I've heard of the game yet it's the top seller on Steam and has more people playing it right now than Counterstrike.  saywhat
141  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mortal Kombat returns on: May 14, 2011, 11:53:38 PM
Got around to picking this up today on 360. Haven't played a MK since Ultimate MK3 back on SNES. This has to be the best fighter I've played in many years. Great visuals, fluid game engine, and tons of content. Gonna be putting a lot of time into this one after I get an arcade stick. The 360 controller is TERRIBLE for this type of game.

Maybe the best game (demo) I've played so far this year. I only wish it was on Steam instead of Impulse.
144  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dwarfs!? on: May 05, 2011, 01:29:29 PM
Bought.

Great game. While it seems simple at first, the maps quickly become frantic trying to manage 50+ dwarfs attempting to dig themselves to doom. I can seem myself dedicating a lot of time into this one. Great variety of game modes and online leaderboards make it a no-brainer at 9 bucks.

147  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Atom Zombie Smasher (from the developer of Flotilla) on: January 25, 2011, 12:41:36 AM
Sucks about the ATI issue. You can roll back your drivers or wait for a fix which should be coming shortly. I went ahead and bought the full version after reading that an activation key will likely be given out for Steam to those that already bought the game from the developer.

It's great. The planning stage really opens up once you start rescuing scientists and researching new techs. Earning gold medals is extremely difficult but I find myself restarting zones to try and acquire them frequently. The zombies usually prevent me from ever doing so. frown

Not sure if it's worth the $15 asking price yet but it's a solid indie game with addictive qualities that should prove to be a fun little time waster.

Just released today along with a demo. I've played through the demo a couple of times and really enjoy it. Not sure if I want to purchase from the developer directly or await it's Steam release but it's a sure purchase.

$20 for Birth By Sleep. Guess I have to bite for that price.
150  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Elemental: War of Magic on: August 26, 2010, 05:44:06 PM
I can't even play the game. I get a white screen upon starting a game with a couple of units visible on screen and then it CTD's.

Regardless of the widely varying quality in games these days, I'm usually at least able to play the actual game. For shame, Stardock.

God of War: Ghost of Sparta
Valkyria Chronicles 2
Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep
Patapon 3
Tactics Ogre: Wheel of Fate
Diablo 3 (if I decide to build a new computer. I pretty much game exclusively on my PSP these days.)

Best MGS of the series. Unbelievable that this is a game on a portable system. I wish more AAA titles were available for the PSP as I've become primarily a hand held only gamer due to time constraints of late.

I've put 10 hours into it so far and I think I'm done with it. Never could get into the GTA games, but the hype bit me pretty hard. I have the game (PS3 version) up on the trading forum if anyone hasn't picked it up yet.

Edit: Decided to keep it. Liking it a bit more now. The story is really starting to pick up.

I played around on the training course last night, and noticed the plinko-like contraption. How do I get a ball in that thing?

Also, how do I do the "special" shots, where the ball dashes around after the ball stops?

If you mean Homing, you have to apply super backspin and hit the flag. Spiral shots are using side spin and hitting the flag. Very tough to do, but completely awesome when you get lucky and actually manage to do it.

I've had a hole in one and albatross, but they rolled in the hole.

The courses are really nice though. They certainly held out intentionally to make more money off DLC, but what can ya do, that's typical for the industry these days.

I'm absolutely loving the game so far. Unlocked a few club sets, some items for your lobby character, and an additional golfer to play as (you only have two at the start.) Online is gonna be my fix for quite awhile I imagine, but there is no one on currently.
