This is my early GOTY. Love it.
122  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Prototype 2 on: April 24, 2012, 06:14:10 PM
I rented it from a Redbox. Never played the original but I've played Infamous and it's pretty similar. Nasty screen tearing and uneven framerate in the Xbox version but that's the case in a lot of games recently.

So far I'm digging it. The powers and gameplay overall is a lot of fun but I can see it becoming extremely repetitive later on. There is little variety in the missions. Basically they serve as an excuse to run, jump, and fly around killing things.
123  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: April 24, 2012, 03:19:57 PM
Loved the demo but it's literally 10 minutes long. Gonna be a long wait for the release.
124  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (04/23) on: April 23, 2012, 11:43:37 PM
Nada. Dark Souls, Trials Evolution, and the Dragons Dogma demo should keep me busy for awhile.
125  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings on: April 19, 2012, 02:31:22 PM
Aside from the typical jank European developed Rpg's are known for, this is an excellent game. Definitely the best story I've witnessed in a video game. The dialogue is needlessly crude at times but it has its own charm within the world they've created. I'd likely compare it to A Game of Thrones with all the politics and morally gray areas the characters work within.

The menu system is a bit unrefined and combat isn't as engaging as I'd like but I enjoy the signs system as well as alchemy and traps. Overall, I'd say it's the best Rpg I've played in years and I hope it's a commercial success for a developer who's obviously got a clue about presenting an actual interesting story while managing to keep the actual game fun to play.

Well, I decided I'd brave my local Walmart and while it took the lady 20 minutes to find the game in the back, I'm installing now. The packaging is pretty sweet. Wasn't expecting the soundtrack, a quest handbook and map in a standard edition.

The items get better at higher levels. Saw an epic suit that increased tricky time for example. I just bought a mystery suit for 60k credits and all it does is glow.  retard

The deadly descents are the only blemish on an otherwise enjoyable game. Seriously, the avalanche and oxygen survival trials had me shaking my head in disbelief. Horrible game design.
128  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Released) - Now With Reviews/Impressions on: February 29, 2012, 09:56:37 PM
The global events multiplayer system is awesome. I can see myself playing this game for a long time to come.
129  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Released) - Now With Reviews/Impressions on: February 28, 2012, 09:42:28 PM
I really don't like the survival parts at all.
130  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 28, 2012, 02:16:38 PM
Considering the review scale for most sites is 6-10 there is a huge disparity between a 7 and a 9. It's averaging an 80% so far which is about what I expected. The 5 hour world your is disappointing but I'm primarily interested in the ridernet competition anyways.
131  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 28, 2012, 01:04:11 PM
Edge 5
Game Informer 7.75
Eurogamer 9

Scores all over the place...
132  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (02/27) on: February 27, 2012, 09:26:55 PM
SSX 360 for me.
133  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 27, 2012, 09:04:43 PM
That's good to know. While I've played every game in the series, I'm getting old and don't have the patience for failing to progress at a steady rate anymore.  Roll Eyes Definitely picking it up tomorrow.

Anyone else planning on getting it feel free to add me on Live for some ridernet competition. Bshock79
134  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] SSX (Demo Released) on: February 27, 2012, 06:37:43 PM
Took several hours of playing the demo before I was able to gold medal JT2. I'm still only getting 4-5 mil on Bulldog. I'm assuming the retail release will be slightly less challenging as the peaks in the demo surely aren't for beginners.

Great game, though. Usually I'd have deleted it in disgust within a hour, but I'm driven to become good at it.
135  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Wii] Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword on: November 30, 2011, 10:39:43 PM
There is plenty of magic. It's a fantastic game. Nintendo doesnt need voice acting, HD graphics, or mature themes to craft quality games. They're always going to be behind Sony and MS technology wise but they'll continue to do what they've always done and I'll be content with that.
136  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: It's Thanksgiving. What's Your GOTY? on: November 23, 2011, 11:59:11 PM
Super Mario Land 3D with Skyrim the runner-up. Havent played Zelda yet and Uncharted 3 was very disappointing. frown

Gonna be super busy working this weekend but what time I do have will be spent with Super Mario Land.
138  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Super Mario 3D Land on: November 18, 2011, 11:50:02 PM
This is maybe the best handheld game i've ever played. Really good stuff.
139  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 18, 2011, 02:03:29 AM
Glitchy mess or not, I keep coming back to Skyrim. No game released this year comes close to how good it is.

Awesome screenshot (well, highly edited screenshot, but mostly a screenshot in the end).

And sad to hear you've experienced so many problems, Seige. I've put in 60 hours into the PC version and have had exactly one crash to desktop total (when I tried to alt-tab out of the game). This is by far the most stable Elder Scrolls game ever in my eyes.

Indeed it is the most stable. I think it's mainly an issue with the PS3 version. Both Oblivion and Fallout shared the same problems. Ahh well, I'll get back to it eventually. Plenty to play in the mean time.
141  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 17, 2011, 02:49:50 AM
As much as I love this game, I'm going to have to put it aside until a patch is released. My save game file has reached 10 megs and the frame rate/load times have become unbearable. I've also had my PS3 hard lock twice as well as numerous occasions of getting stuck in spots and having to reload saves. The game is great but there are too many other games vying for attention to put up with this junk.
142  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/14) on: November 16, 2011, 12:40:50 AM
I caved and picked up Rayman. The guy at EB hadn't even heard of it.  icon_lol
143  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 15, 2011, 07:03:46 PM
Over 30 hours in and I feel like I've just scratched the surface. Level 18 and I'm starting to dabble into enchanting and alchemy. There's an overwhelming amount of content in this game. Keep getting sidetracked.

Edit: Game is starting to get a very unstable framerate and slow load times on PS3. Guess Beth still haven't figured out how to develop on the console.
144  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/14) on: November 14, 2011, 09:03:29 PM
Rayman demo was solid but I think I have my plate full with Skyrim for quite awhile.
145  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 12, 2011, 10:10:59 PM
I couldn't get into Fallout 3 or Oblivion. I've put over 20 hours into Skyrim thus far and ready to declare GOTY. Just an amazing game through and through. It's definitely not as polished as Id like but hopefully a few patches will resolve some of my issues.
146  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim on: November 11, 2011, 07:36:10 AM
First impression is excellent. The sound design stands out more than anything. The music is amazing. During the intro I had some framerate issues but they seem to have disappeared now I've gone my own way. Graphically, it's very hit and miss. Textures aren't the greatest but the environments are gorgeous and the weather effects are outstanding. The shadows look awful but I'm not very picky about the technical things. As long as there aren't any major bugs, I'm good to go for awhile with this one I think.

The combat isn't much different from Oblivion. It still feels like you aren't making contact with enemies when you swing but the slomo kill cam is a pretty neat addition from Fallout. Over all it works and I'm sure it will open up a bit more when I get dragon shouts but it's definitely not a selling point for the game. Ps3 version, btw.

Edit: I need sleep but this game is ridiculously awesome. Just went through my first dungeon and you can tell it was hand crafted. Really good stuff.

Huge line outside the local Gamestop. Sucks as its quite cold out. I just walked into Walmart and picked it up at the counter with no wait.  icon_cool

Is it just me or is the aiming a lot more difficult in this one? I have a 35% accuracy through Chapter 9 because I cant hit the broad side of a barn.

I've been watching the videos and I'm thoroughly impressed, the only thing holding me back from playing is my distaste for the Wii. Shitty console barrier aside, I think Zelda is going to be an amazing gaming experience.

Yeah, I hate the controller and waggle in general, but gotta take the good with the bad when it comes to a Zelda game. I'm sure it will be great despite the crap that is the Wii.

Never been a big fan of the Elder Scrolls series so this will be my big release of the year. I'm miffed it comes out two days AFTER my vacation ends. Sigh. crybaby

Every first run copy of the game is the Anarchy Edition. It's not limited to pre orders.

Great review. I definitely agree it's an awesome game. My son and I love the coop missions. I wish the racing wasn't limited to online only but other than that,  thumbsup.

Jackal Canyon video is sweet. Getting really amped up for the game now.

The card collecting game sounds pretty neat, too.

I haven't bought or played a game in about 5 months. This is probably the only one I'm looking forward to this year other than Torchlight 2.
156  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Runespell: Overture on: July 20, 2011, 11:31:17 PM
I bought it after trying out the demo. Definitely a good time waster.

Infamous 2
Dungeon Siege 3

Also, it's really nothing like Minecraft at all.

Are you kidding?  The basic mechanics and concepts seem like an almost direct 2D version of Minecraft.

Because you can dig and build a house? Terraria is more of a "game" than Minecraft. There's a lot more to do than just building a fortress or spelling your name out in blocks.

It's more similar to Castlevania or Metroid than it is Minecraft, IMO.
159  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Terraria- Minecraft type game, sideways, and more game. On Steam now. on: May 17, 2011, 08:17:25 PM
This is up there with Cave Story as one of the best indie released games. If they tone down the monster spawn rate and continually release content updates, I could see myself getting a lot of play time with it.

Also, it's really nothing like Minecraft at all.
160  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Terraria- Minecraft type game, sideways, and more game. On Steam now. on: May 17, 2011, 01:27:02 AM
Loving it so far. The initial loading time is very excessive on my machine for some reason. Takes like 5 minutes to boot up the world.

Edit: It's quite funny how today is the first time I've heard of the game yet it's the top seller on Steam and has more people playing it right now than Counterstrike.  saywhat
