Played mine last night and my whammy bar is messing up.  Sometimes it registers other times it doesn't so hopefully I can return it and get another one.

562  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Guitar Hero II on: April 03, 2007, 01:43:07 PM
Well picked it up last night from walmart had to goto another one because the people at the first were very rude but anyway there were 2 other people waiting so I got home about 12:30 and fired it up.

The graphics are awesome the lighting effects are well done and I like it.  There are slight pauses in the menu's every once in a while no problem just noticeable.

The audio is what I was really interested in and it did sound good although I couldn't turn it up like I wanted(people sleeping).  I like 5.1 DD.

The guitar.  At first I didn't like it.  The second strap holder is underneath the fretboard so the guitar doesn't sit well vertically it is kind of at an angle and I had trouble at first.  But after about 30 min I started to like it.  I has a longer body that might right hand can lean on so I can balance the guitar better.  The whammy bar I have mixed feelings.  It doesn't seem to register unless you pull it all the way down, it works but not like I am used to.  It did stay where I left it so that was good.  The start and select are small and a little tough to hit when you need to pause but probably get used to that too.  I like the fret buttons and was able to hit some solos that I had trouble with in ps2.  I play with a pick and it felt fine.

I only got to play about 5 of the new songs and they are okay I am not to the ones that I really want to play.  Billion dollar babies was my favorite so far.  I unlocked all the bonus songs and played the 2 new ones they are pretty good.

The achievements are nice but I know I wont get all of them.  Play Jordan on expert with 5 stars.  No way.

The leaderboards are going to be awesome and can't wait for more friends to get on there for some competition.  I was the only one on my friends leaderboard so I was number one for awhile.  Yes....

Can't wait for the download-able songs.

Any questions let me know.

It is a big step up from the ps2 version on the audio front.  5.1 vs pro logic is a big thing to me and also not have to constantly go into the options and set progressive scan every time I boot up the game.
564  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Puzzle Quest for DS/PSP on: March 22, 2007, 04:14:03 PM
Went to their forums and read a little.  It seems they put a bug fix in at the last minute that broke that feature on the PSP.  Companions give you certain advantages when battling like -10 against undead so you wont get that added effect.  Not that big of deal but they are upset over that and not sure how to get a patch to fix that.

565  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Puzzle Quest for DS/PSP on: March 22, 2007, 02:22:55 PM
Got it for the DS and it is fine.  I use the tap method and haven't had any mishaps at all.  The graphics are a bit weak, they could have done a better job but it will do.

You can press the left and right shoulder buttons and it will show you and your opponent's armor and weapons.

566  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Anyon heard anything good about Earth Defense Force (360)? on: March 20, 2007, 01:49:59 PM
There was a good video of it on GS Live one week.  Basically you run around and shoot big aliens.  You can destroy big skyscrapers and other buildings.  there are around 4 vehicles including a Mech.  There are a ton of weapons as well.  You will fight a lot of big ants though.  But it is constant action with huge fights.

568  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tiger Woods - Wii on: March 14, 2007, 08:43:27 PM
I just wonder what Guitar Hero on the Wii will use.

I don't know why TW didn't do the 1:1 on the golf swing.  Is it that hard to do or were they being rushed to get this out.  I did have one shot where I had about 25 yards to pin and my club would go 46 y and it was a little difficult to get it to swing about half power.  Hopefully practice will really help and I wonder if the Wii setup really impacts this as well.  Also why didn't the gamespot review mention the controls more.  IGN focused mainly on that and GS review did a little but not as indepth as Ign.

569  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tiger Woods - Wii on: March 14, 2007, 07:02:54 PM
I tried to do my regular swing with 2 hands and  I noticed as soon as I started on my back swing the blue arc appeared meaning hook and of course I hooked it.  My friend was slicing a lot until he started using one hand and did a little better.  So I am not sure what I am doing wrong.  Since I only had a little time with it I didn't get to try the tutorial so probably all my impressions are useless.  But I did like what I tried it is going to be a challenge and that is what I always wanted from TW.

I tried the pro golf game with the gloves and the string attached and it worked okay but I think the Wii will out do that by a great deal.  I wish there was someway to put the controller in a golf club kind of thing to get the full experience.

570  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Tiger Woods - Wii on: March 14, 2007, 06:22:42 PM
Played for about 15 minutes at lunch and......

The golf swing was pretty good but I need to adjust my sensor bar.  Had a friend play and watched his swing and it did follow it on his first swings then on his last shots he took his back swing and when he stopped the golfer on screen was already on his down swing and was finished by the time my friend started down.  My friends wasn't in the same position on every swing so I think it is my sensor bar position.  I usually play on my recliner and it works well there but when I stand up I do have some problems on other games so I don't think it was TW.  We were playing on advance and were slicing and hooking a lot so it is very promising to me.  I will do some setup work tonight and let you know the results later hopefully.

The graphics are not that great.  Jaggies all over the place but not that big of deal to me.
571  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: GoW 2 already on warez sites on: February 22, 2007, 03:28:07 PM
I went on the Torrent sites and looked and there is only the GOW 2 demo out there, which you can get if you preorder the game so I don't think it has leaked yet.
572  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Guitar Hero II on: February 14, 2007, 09:53:57 PM
Definately in. Have the ps2 version and 3 guitars(one wireless).  I want the 10 extra songs plus all the songs will be in 5.1 surround sound not pro logic.
Also it might not have online play but it does have leaderboards and you can filter the leaderboards to your friends so you can still have competion, just set up a chat and play the song at the same time.

573  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Lunar Knights "one of the finest games on DS." 1UP review on: February 08, 2007, 03:17:42 PM
Played for about 30 minutes last night and I really like it.  The only thing that bugs me so far is the control. You only move 8 directions and sometimes the pad doesn't respond to my liking but I am getting used to it.  The graphics and combat are really fun I only stopped playing because it was really late and I needed sleep.

574  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Recap 29/Jan/07 on: January 29, 2007, 03:35:35 PM
Played Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2 for quite awhile I still can't finish Freebird, Six, and Jordan on expert though.  I rented FEAR for the 360 and I am loving it.  It really is a good game but the coridoor crawling is getting a little old, too bad there are not more environments.  The action is good and the story decent.
Played about 2 hours of Metroid Prime and then about an hour of Jewel Quest Solitaire.

575  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Pirates PSP on: January 25, 2007, 07:34:32 PM
Got it yesterday and played around for about 30 minutes.  I have played the pc version and it is a pretty good port.

The graphics are good although a little small while on the seas.  The cutscenes and the inside locals are really sharp.  When sailing the ship the graphics are a bit small but well done.  I have only seen the lightning cloud pass by once but that was really cool.
The map is on the start button and is very crisp and easy to read.

The loading times are very good but when you are in a sword fight and you win it loads(about 2 seconds) to show you sending your opponent going over the rail, which is not much but a little annoying.  You can save at anytime which is great.

Controlling the ship is a little tricky with the analog stick so I usually use the dpad and it works quite well. I haven't done any land battles yet so I will update impressions later when I get more playing time.

Overall it is a very polished game and I like it alot.

From interviews they say there our 12 tracks, and that they are using some from the previous SSX games.  So how long are these tracks?
577  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Guitar Hero II 360 Info!! on: January 11, 2007, 07:38:14 PM
I was wrong with my earlier post about the guitar it does shut off after 2 minutes of inactvity so says a review so I will see if my batteries are not dead.
578  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Guitar Hero II 360 Info!! on: January 11, 2007, 03:09:41 PM
I purchased the Red Octane Wireless guitar and it has worked flawless for me.  It is easy to setup and I haven't noticed any lag whatsoever.  The strum bar is quieter as well.  The only 'bad' thing is there is an on/off button and if you forget to turn if off it will run your batteries down, wish it could detect no usage after 5 min and then shut off auto.

Picked this up and I like it so far.  I have it on the ds but I like the PSP layout much more.  I'm am not good at remembering cards and on the DS the computer would make a move and something big would happen and I wouldn't know what happened until I went to their graveyard.

I also like there is a story and not just dueling.

I went at 6:30 and was the 6th person in line.  About 8:00 manager came out and gave us tickets so that was good.  The final ticket was given away about 8:30.  Got some games and played it and like it.

For a console designed to bring in non-gamers the whole different controller options is really crazy,  I need a gamecube controller, the vc controller, the wii controller.  It just seems a bit confusing for those that will be new to gaming.

I am excited and want to get one, I just wonder about the little things.

586  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Recap 13/Nov/06 on: November 13, 2006, 03:30:06 PM
Beat GOW last night.
Lack 3 songs on GH2 on expert mode.
Played about 3 hours of COD3.
587  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360]Gears of War-Impressions on: November 08, 2006, 04:51:26 AM
I played the single player for about an hour and meh it was okay.  The graphics were good and everything but it just wasn't clicking.  So I tried some multiplayer a little better alot of fun even though I didn't know any of the guys.  Then I went and played GH2 for about an hour then picked up GOW again and did the single player co-op over live and man did that make a difference.  The game is a lot better if you play coop you can crank up the level and have a blast.
588  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360]Gears of War-Impressions on: November 07, 2006, 09:04:17 PM
The district mgr for our game store in Little Rock drove to Memphis to pick up the game so we got it around
1:30.  Too bad my lunch was over then so I will hopefully get to play at 5:03.

589  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Guitar Hero II Impressions - (spoiler: it kicks ass) on: November 07, 2006, 02:33:51 AM
I do slide my pinky from the 5th to the 4th and that is the only way that I can do it.  I am on the last tier now, not sure how I passed some of those songs though.  If you had a hard time with expert on the first GH I don't think you have much chance on this one unless you practice practice practice.
590  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Guitar Hero II Impressions - (spoiler: it kicks ass) on: November 06, 2006, 08:05:39 PM
The 1-5-4 is nothing compared to the 1-5-34.  It doesn't sound like much but man adding that 3rd button and having to make a chord is just wrong.  I tried to cheat and just hit the 5-34 skipping the 1 but it goes on for so long that my meter puttered out before it ended.

Freya on expert is extremely hard and no there are no hammer on's and pull offs.  Here is how is goes, 1st button then the 5th button then the third and fourth together then repeat. This goes on about 10 times then another hard section then back to this for about 10 - 15 seconds.  It is brutal.  I went into practice mode on that stretch for about 20 minutes and still had trouble.  I kept a full star power and made it through that section after 4 tries.

I beat the hard mode Saturday night and played the bonus songs Sun morning.  Most of the bonus songs I like but there are about 3 that are real stinkers,  the Made in Mexico song is one of the worst songs I have ever heard.

I am currently on expert mode and am on the 6th tier.  Expert is alot harder then hard mode.  Hard mode is pretty easy if you've played GH before and are pretty good at it.  I don't think the hard mode prepares you very much for expert though.

The practice mode is good but I wish that you could put it on continuous mode.  You select the parts you want to play then the speed but once you finish it goes back into the menu and you can click replay but I wish you could put a number or it would just loop for that amount or increase the speed automatically then play it again.  Not a fan of menu's.

The progressive scan option, you have to turn it on everytime you play the game.  The widescreen option stays once selected but progressive doesn't, just a minor gripe. The graphics are great with progressive scan they are very crisp and detailed.

I have this week off so I hopefully will be able to beat many games.

Tiger Woods 2007 -  About 4 hours and I really like it.  The presentation is very good and the gameplay so far is not too easy.
Bully -  2 Hours.  So far pretty good.
Contact - Hour.  Okay pretty interesting story and neat idea.
Okami - 4 hours.  20 hours in and still really enjoying the game definately going to finish this one.
Price of Persia 3 -  4 hours.  I tried to go back and play POP 2 but just grew tiresome of not being albe to find my way around.  So far this one is looking good.
GTA San Andreas - 4 hours.  Trying to finally finish this game.

Guitar Hero -  3 hours.  Gotta keep my skill up,  TWO MORE WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
597  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Recap 2/Oct/06 on: October 02, 2006, 10:46:51 PM
Played about 8 hours of Okami.

Played about 8 hours of God of War and beat it finally.  That is one awesome game.

Played 4 hours of Saints Row.  I really like this game but it is getting hard.

Played 1 hour of Guitar Hero 2 demo.

Good weekend of gaming.
598  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Recap: What'd You Play? 25/Sep/06 on: September 25, 2006, 03:20:30 PM
Played about 10 hours of Okami and about 6 hours of Saints Row.  Then for some reason late last night I put in about 30 min on Zelda Ocarina of Time and an hour of Metroid Prime(GC).

I just got a new HDTV so had to try those last 2 out.

599  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Okami impressions on: September 21, 2006, 02:30:44 PM
Played for about an hour and a half and I am really enjoying the game.

The graphics do look good on a widescreen HDTV. The art style is really impressive and the colors really stand out.

There are 2 camera angles one close up and one far away.  The close up camera is okay but I found that when I used it I was weaving alot as I was running, if you hit the L1 button the camera backs out and it made running long distances easier.  You manually control the camera as well and I have had no other problems with it so far.

The combat so far isn't too deep and not really that hard but it is still good.  It's fun to knock them in the air then slash them with your brush and watch the body be split in half then fall to the ground.  Controling the brush is very easy and I hope they use it alot for the puzzles because there are some neat things that can be done with it.

The only gripe I have is the "talking" of the characters.  They use gibberish that is quite annoying, I wish they had just the text.  It isn't that much of a distraction but I just don't care for it.    The dialog is well written and funny(ie. furball).

600  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Anybody get Madden on the PSP? on: August 25, 2006, 08:58:33 PM
I went to CC today and picked up the 360 version then just as I was about to pay I got the PSP version as well.  The 360 version locked up after playing about 10 minutes, arghhhhhh, same thing with NCAA so my 360 is off to get fixed.  I then went to work with the PSP version unopened and debating.

Well after 30 min couldn't help myself and opened the PSP version and was pleasantly surprised.

Graphics -
Awesome, they are better than PS2 to me, crisp and clear.

Presentation -
Not sure about last year but it is okay for me.  There are replays after big plays and the atomosphere is there.  The commentary isn't that bad but I disabled just because.  The menu music is annoying so I turned that off as well, other than that the sound is good.  It is fast loading and plays smoothly so no gripes there.

Minigames -
There are a ton of mini games.  END2END is a blast to play.

So far I only have 1 gripe and that is the camera.  On 3 of the camera angles it just doesn't zoom out enough to see all of your receivers.  On the over the top cam it is good but the people are a too small.
You can use the other 3 to see the receivers if you do this.  When you goto the line press the Right trigger and that will zoom out the camera.  You can't hike the ball until you let it go but if you hike it right after you let go it will stay at the zoomed level.

Overall this is a good purchase.  I would like to try out the wifi later but the single player plays very well and I am happy with my purchase especially since CC has it for 28.
