That one Idie song by Artillery is brutal, the fastest song on the game.
I can't wait for an expansion and hopefully they will deliver one soon.

I bought the X360 but none of the games have me really wanting to go back and play like GH.  GOTY for me.

564  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The 360 crashes! It must suck! on: November 23, 2005, 03:07:30 PM
I had one game out of four of Madden to lock up.  Not that big of deal but it is frustrating.
565  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HDTV on: November 20, 2005, 04:27:03 AM
I wanted an HDTV 2 years ago but they were too expensive so I went and found a DLP front projector the Infocus X1 and couldn't be more pleased.  It does 480p/720p/1080i and it does very well.

If you can't afford a big HDTV right now this maybe your best opportunity. I paid about 950 for everything and have a 100' wide screen tv.
566  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / MArio Kart - Nintendo WFC Friend Codes on: November 18, 2005, 04:15:27 AM
Finally got my router working.  A bug in the firmware prevented me from changing my tx rate to 1-2.  Once that was fixed away I went.

567  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Mario Kart DS review [ign] on: November 15, 2005, 09:36:44 PM
Just bought the game at lunch and can't put the game down too bad I'm at work also but there are no patients involved so I don't feel so guilty.

The tracks are wonderful along with the music that goes with them.  My fav so far is the Pinball track it is a lot of fun.

Can't wait till I get home and try multi.

PGR3 who needs it when you got Mario.
568  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Cheap video card? on: November 15, 2005, 12:25:29 AM
I just bought the 6800 GT OC and it fried my 400w power supply.

I played about 5 minutes of Call of Duty when my machine shut off and wouldn't come back on till I replaced the PS.

The 6600 is a good card though.
569  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Super simple mp3 editor for splicing & cutting music? on: November 13, 2005, 07:05:57 AM
Mp3directcut is a freeware editor that is very good.
570  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Guitar Hero Impressions!!! on: November 11, 2005, 02:26:11 PM
I put electric tape on the strum bar(I use a pick) and on the first and last buttons because of losing my place.  The spacing is very different from the guitar so I am having problems because of it.

I am glad that y'all like it hopefully more and more will buy this game.  I just wish you could by another guitar at the store instead of online.
571  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Guitar Hero Impressions!!! on: November 08, 2005, 07:47:46 PM
Well I beat the game on Hard mode and started the extreme mode and that is going to be impossible.  I haven't earned one 5 star rating yet on any level, I guess I need to go back and get those.

I first tried the extreme level after playing many songs on the medium level and thought there is no way I will ever play any song on extreme.  But since I've beat hard mode I have gotten to the second stage on the extreme.  I just wish you could practice the solos in slow mode because I can't get my hand to move that fast yet.

I hope on the next Guitar Hero they will let you just hit the strum bar as a note and that way you would have six strings to work with.  Now that would be awesome.
572  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Guitar Hero Impressions!!! on: November 03, 2005, 04:00:17 PM
I can only get to the 3rd batch of songs on hard level. The only way I got through those was that I  saved my star power till it got to the solo then used it there so it boosted my level till the chorus started again.  I can't imagine playing these songs on extreme.  That is going to take a lot of playing time.

I agree with IGN's review, I wish it had a practice session where you could slow down the solo because at full speed it is almost impossible.

Hey shon, quick question -

I have a sort of left hand "handicap."  If speaking in terms of an actual guitar, I can't physically wrap my left hand the fret or whatever the hell it's called.  I even really wanted to play the violin and had the same sort of deal where I couldn't properly grasp the fret-thingy very well at all.

Would this also hinder my ability to play Guitar Hero?  Are the "buttons" easy to press and such?

You don't have to press the buttons as hard as you would strings on a guitar or violin but you do have to press 2 buttons at once and they can be far away
so you would have to put your thumb behind the neck at times.  You might
be able to do it without using your thumb, I will try that lunch (maybe) and let you know.
574  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Guitar Hero Impressions!!! on: November 03, 2005, 05:33:59 AM
Well I have played about 3 hours now and my hands are tired.  The game is good but gets hard quick.

I beat the medium difficulty without any problems, but as soon as I got to hard I have barely beat the first 10 songs.  In hard mode they use the fifth button and that is giving me all kinds of trouble.  I am not sure how to use my hands with the buttons.  I play guitar so maybe I am trying to use my pinkie too much but I find myself not knowing were I am on the buttons.  I wish they had more bumps on the buttons, the one on the middle is not enough.

I am having fun with the game and it is a blast to play.  Some of the songs I didn't think I would like are really fun, the Ziggy Stardust song is really fun.

Hopefully the price will come down so more people will be able to buy.  I can't wait for Guitar Hero 2.

Look into my eyes    and start counting backwords from 100 until you reach 0.

Repeat after me:
Yes I will buy guitar hero, Yes I will by Guitar Hero.  Yes I will buy Guitar Hero.
576  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Guitar Hero Impressions!!! on: November 02, 2005, 10:34:59 PM
If you never have played guitar it can teach you a little bit.

You won't be learning the actual chords or notes but you will be learning to do rhythm with your right hand and note placment with your left so you will get used to doing different things with each hand.

When you move up levels and actually get to do chords you will be doing some of the basic chords (fifths)  that guitarists actually do.

So no, it won't teach you guitar per se but it can help you with some of the dexterity that you will need to play guitar.
577  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Guitar Hero Impressions!!! on: November 02, 2005, 08:11:05 PM
First a little story.  I prepaid Guitar Hero's from Ebgames and they said it would be in the 2nd.  So I wait until Lunch(sorry work) then head over to Eb to pick it up.  Well I get there and the salesman is demoing the game, I think cool.  Well evidently eb does not get the game until the 8th and the salesmen drove to BB to get it this morning.  So I get my money back and rush to BB thinking my luck I will get there and they would be out.  Luckily they weren't so yeah.  Now onto impressions.

When I first opened the game I noticed the awesome SG controller.  A mini SG right in my hands.  It was well made and even came with a strap.  The only drawback was the cord length I wish it was a bit longer but I do have the extension cables so I will use them tonight.  I would say it is little  bit shorter than the DDR pads cord but I might be wrong.  The strum bar and the whammy bar are cool as well.

I pop in the game and think, I have played guitar for many years so I will chose the extreme level of I Love Rock 'n Roll.  Well the love lasted about 10 secs and I was boo'd off the stage, so with my head haning low I went to the medium level.    I managed to finish the song with an 89% hit ratio.
So then I moved up to the hard mode and it was very different from medium because it not only does it use more buttons the layout of hitting them were different so as you play from Begginer to Expert things will be fresh.

You really get pumped playing this game.  I am using a pick instead of my thumb because as you get to the solo things start going fast.  I am a little bewildered now because I am not used to the spacing of the buttons so I get lost to where I am at on the buttons.  There is a bump on the middle button to help a little but after practice it shouldn't matter.  The whammy bar is awesome because the guitar sound actually follows your up and down movements of it to you can bend notes if you have time.

The song selection is great, now there are only 10 songs you can play at first without unlocking them but so far the 4 songs that I have played are true to the original, as they sound much like the original artists.

I rockingly admonish all of those waiting on reviews or whatever go out and get this game it is really the best rhythm game I have played.

I actually took a 2 hour lunch as I got caught up playing so hopefully no one will find out.  Anyway

ROCK ON.
578  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What are you buying this week? (10/31) on: November 01, 2005, 05:01:39 AM
I can't believe none of you guys want to ROCK.

Guitar Hero is a must buy(I already preordered it).

I can't wait for this game it is going to be awesome and will post some
impressions hopefully by Wednesday.
579  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [DS] Metroid Prime Pinball Impressions on: October 28, 2005, 02:17:50 AM
I really like this game, I have spent more time on this one than any other DS Game.  The music and graphics are great, the rumble is okay.

I hooked up with a friend and played multiplayer and had a blast. The only thing is in multiplayer you only get to play one board which kind of sucks.

If I had 6 friends with DS that would be awesome.
580  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Insane ... I-N-S-A-N-E video for Guitar Hero at IGN!!!!!!!!! on: October 24, 2005, 09:22:11 PM
That video is awesome.  I can't wait for that game.  I have been waiting for a game like this all my life.  Wooohooo.....

Really, this game does look like it will have great potential I hope it sells well and has expansion packs.
581  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Indigo Prophecy (PS2) Review on: October 21, 2005, 07:33:12 PM
Yes this is a must buy game.  I have only played about 3 hours but this is a great game.  The atomosphere and the storytelling, we need more games like this.
582  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Anyone still hyped for Shadow of the Colossus? on: October 20, 2005, 02:05:23 PM
Picked up the game yesterday, nice.  Beat the first 4 collosi in about hour 30 minutes.  The graphics are great along with the sound and music.  The voices are kind of creepy.

The only problem I have with this game is the camera.  It can be quite
unhelpful at times.

I have got so many games in the past months that I had to make a pact that my next game purchase I would play till the end and I am glad that this was it.

Just picked up Meteos last night and what a great little game.  The only drawback is that it can get a little stressfull.

I have kirby and suggest that people buy both they are very very good games that you will have a blast playing.

Any help?
587  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Win98 Bootup Problem on: June 16, 2005, 08:19:41 PM
I have a Win98 machine that if I have it up and running and do a shutdown or reboot it gets windows protection errors when it tries to boot
to Windows.  I have to manually turn off the power supply, wait for about 5 seconds and then it will boot up to win98, I have no problems when it is up just when I try and reboot.

Any ideas?
588  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Kirby Canvas Impressions on: June 14, 2005, 07:02:55 PM
I just bought the game and played the tutorial and the first level.  Neat.

It is different than any other game so far no buttons or pad just the stylus.

The graphics are clear and crisp and the gameplay fresh.   Hopefully this will last longer than a day.

I should have other comments later.

591  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Impressions: WarioWare Twisted! on: June 02, 2005, 02:40:15 AM
I love this game and it is very challenging I am on the last stage and I can only complete about 6 challenges.  I am very happy with this game.
592  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee [psp] on: May 31, 2005, 02:09:39 AM
On your tee shot push down on the dpad and you will throw grass into the air and it will blow in the direction and force of the wind.  This acutally makes more sense than giving you just a number.

Can you tell me when you are outside the mph of the wind?????
593  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee [psp] on: May 10, 2005, 02:28:30 AM
I've been playing for quite awhile and am really enjoying the game.  I finally have 3 courses open which I am very proud of.  The only gripe I have is that you can't turn off your caddie voices and I am tired of hearing "Good Shot", which is said when you hit the ball well.
594  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Untold Legends Impressions on: April 21, 2005, 02:58:53 AM
I didn't pick this game up initially(because of reviews), but I finally talked a friend of mine to pick up a PSP and this was his first game and he loved it.  So for multiplay I bought it too

So far it is pretty good.  The sound effects are awesome, count how many footstep sounds there are.  The graphics are pretty good too.  I have zoomed in on the graphics but I can't play that way because it makes me dizzy if they only had a setting in between.

Wasn't sure about loading times but they are okay a little long but not too bad.  This is a great game to just pick up and play so I am really enjoying it.

Are the load times for Tiger woods as long as this one?
595  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Metal Gear Ac!d opinions/impressions? on: April 06, 2005, 03:59:39 PM
I really like Acid as well.  MGS3 was hard for me I liked the story but just couldn't get into the gameplay.

I was looking for a good card based game and this is it.  Strategy, collecting, dying, and replayability just a great game.

You can speed up the other players turns by pressing the triangle button but be carefull if you hold it down too long you will pass your turn up.
596  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Res Evil 4 need help on: March 23, 2005, 08:27:51 PM

The action is great and the graphics as well.  I would recommed it.
598  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Resident Evil 4 Impressions on: January 19, 2005, 10:57:36 PM
Just beat the game.

What a great game I had a blast playing it.  From the graphics to the sound to the everything the game is one of the best I have played and actually finished.

Good luck to everyone and have a good time.
599  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GCN Deals? on: January 18, 2005, 10:19:15 PM
The reason only 1% of the component cable was used was because you had to order it only from nintendo and not get it at the store.

I don't know why they did that.  I want one but $30 is quite high.
600  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / 'enemy hordes' syndrome (rant/whine)... on: January 17, 2005, 01:31:38 PM
I agree I get tired of fighting the hordes.  I will say this about Resident Evil 4 there were a couple of times where I thought there would be alot more enemies but they stopped at the right level.

I hope developers can come up with different puzzles than crates, blocks and door keys.
