1881  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Final Fantasy XIV Online on: October 13, 2010, 09:15:35 PM
Final Fantasy XIV isn't fun; it's work.   ( from the gamespot review )

This is by far the most fatal flaw of the game.  If it feels like everything you do is work, why would you want to even try to play it.  Considering the expense behind developing and running an mmo, I have a feeling this game is going to do serious financial damage to Squeenix overall and the FF brand in particular.  We may be witnessing the end of an era.

downloaded the patch from Fileplanet, and damn did it take forever to install.  then when it finally did I had that extra 1.5 gigs to download.  needless to say I ddin't get around to playing last night.

do you have issues with the Blizzard downloader?  Because it actually pre downloads a lot of the patch before the patch is released, as you play.  I had the full patch downloaded and installed thru Blizz in about 30 minutes.  Just wondering why youre using an outside source to download and install.

You question that youve been on my radar?  Nice to know you can read my mind.  I never came out against you because my focus was on the infected.  I ended up with classic villager tunnel vision.  Still your game play was and still is suspicious. Thats what put you on my radar.
People have poked at me all game and havent been killed for their efforts.  Now out of the blue I allegedly take out Lassr, conveniently after he calls me out?  Yeah that makes sense.   What raises a red flag is that a smart wolf will start knocking off the known innocents and cutting down our voting block.  Then he would find an easy target to lay the blame off on to. Youve pointed your finger at me because Im the best target to hide your actions behind.  The more you stir this up the more convinced I am that you are the remaining wolf.  But as Ive said hang me if you want.  All we lose is a villager.  Just heed my words and stake Rickfc.  you will expose him for the wolf he is and Ill go to my grave knowing I at least helped. He was quiet til I shined the light on him,  Im thinking hes protesting a bit too much.  Do as you will but dont buy into Rickfc's BS.
1886  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [WW] GTville VI: Bloodlust DAY SIX - Lassr vivisected on: October 11, 2010, 10:02:58 PM
well its not really a triggercut vote even though it played out that way.  I had valid reasons to call him out.  Hes been on my radar awhile.  Still if hanging an innocent will help to get this game moving then by all means pull the plug on me.  Heres a suggestion though.  Stake Rickfc first.  If hes a wolf he lives and youll see Im right.  If he a vamp, well then all the better.  If hes an innocent, then hang me.  Im good with that.

ah sorry  I didnt go back thru 33 pages of stuff and couldnt quite remember how you were hooked to the silky thing.  Yeah thats right, you did try to hide yourself in the middle of a lynch train and then later used it to protest your innocence.  Still there is nothing made up or random about your posting activity.  No matter how you dodge or spin it, you have been keeping a low profile and havent helped the village with info at all. Only now, after seeing a near train on me from yesterday, you try to throw me under the bus.  You can poke me safely and use yesterday as a defense.  Pretty much your M.O. the whole game,  keep a low profile, jump on someone after theyve been fingered and make noise only when you feel youre safe to do so.  That is text book evil cover.

While I completely agree with you that I haven't put forth too much effort to create threat matrices a la newcastle, I've been anything but lurking.  I've been actively participating and putting my $.02.

At any rate, I'm following up on Lassr's suspicions.  He was innocence was proved early in the game, yet he survived until he pointed his finger in your direction.  Highly suspicious if you ask me.

Well I guess we can go back and forth on this but it doesnt seem too productive. Im innocent and lynching me would be a mistake.  I can tell you honestly that I had nothing to do with Lassr's death.  Youre barking up the wrong tree.

Seems silly if I were a wolf after Lassr to make no attempt to have him lynched.  On the other hand pegging me like you did Rickfc makes me very suspicious of you.  Especially considering that youve bascially lurked the entire game, adding nothing to us villagers information gathering.  When you do pop up its to back someone elses play.  That is a perfect wolf/vamp cover there.  Add in your earlier defense of Silky, now known to be a slain wolf and I think theres a very good chance that you are in fact the Alpha wolf.  I think its time we Lynch rickfc

the show is decent but the "memento" effect is overused.  Its become a cheap and unnecessary ploy to create suspense.  There was one thing I got some amusement out of though   Its a good thing that our government, upon finding a mass amount of people mysteriously killed by aliens,  decided not to do a single autopsy.  That would have been, well, unfortunate now wouldnt it

soulchilde, I understand your point, but it kind of validates mine.  Definitely, if people are going off on GS in a 5 man, it's not the addon that's the problem but the a-hole whos using it.
still we are basically arguing semantics.  I'm just saying as far as GS is concerned, it's a tool and like any tool, is useful when used properly.  Unfortunately there are way too many epeening dickwads in WoW.  I don't blame the tool I blame the fools. In the end I guess it amounts to the same thing.  Still if GS should be eliminated, then so should titles, because they have the same effect.

Ill just tell you now if you like the Beatles youll love the rockband version.  Thye incorporated 3 part vocals into the game btw.  That just rocks.  Plus the graphics they use when youre performing are simply awesome. Ive had a lot of fun with rockband, but Ive had tons of party fun with the Beatles rockband.

Thanks.  $40 for 5 levels seems like a lot unless you are planning to level a new alt too.  And even then my impression is that the Cataclysm content does not go from 60 - 80.  Assuming it doesn't include 30 days of play I'll probably give it a pass unless it gets rave reviews.

the word is that those 5 levels will take as long to do as the 10 levels you got in Wrath.  That being said, Im sure some lunatic in France will level cap in a 36 hour marathon, complete with bedpan and catheter.

It cracks me up when I see people whine about gearscore.  If youre stupid enough to think gearscore is the end all measuring stick for how leet a person is, then yeah, its a problem.  If you realize that all it does is give a basic idea that the person at least has the tools to do his job and that it tells you nothing about whether a person is capable or competent, then it has its uses.  If it didnt exist then people would just waste more time inspecting everyone they group with. Its a quick numerical average to give you a general idea of a persons gear level and thats all it is.  Any real problem with gearscore is founded in people, not gearscore.

Well, I hate to admit it but Scoop was right all along.  Sigh.  I was completely pulled in by the theory of using the infection day one when the seer and the sorc were outted that I couldnt understand how anything else was valid.  Im going to have to break that pit bull mentality if I continue to play these games.  Anyway, lesson learned.  Fortunately, no one really followed my lead and 2 downed wolves have been the result.  So I think Im going to rely on the wisdom of others while I sulk in my humility.  At this point, my top three are Theohall, Newcastle and scubav.   The fact that Theohall steered the village so darn well last game playing the villager role while being a wolf makes me fear him all that more this game.  He may be doing the same this time.  Since he was in the middle of the Moliere train, he gave himself deniability, while avoiding the kill vote.  If he waited any longer he may not have been able to hide behind a vote because it would have been too risky.  At this point I will follow the villages trends and vote to lynch Theohall

wow a 2 in 1 shot with the Moliere lynch.  That rocks!  Definitely worth coming out for JayDee.  If this is true and Moliere was infected then the alpha wolf is still out there.  So we now know that The infection has been used and is out of play,  the goth faction is down by at least one and that the alpha wolf is still lurking.  Thats a whole lot of info off one scan.  Fantastic!
