Yes.  Yes it was.

I'm honestly hoping that the Texans feel embarrassed and pissed off....and take it out on the Ravens.

They'd better.

Not if the Texans play like they did against Green Bay. Jesus, that was a shitty game (for Texans fans).

On Friday night I played my first softball game back in three months, and it felt fucking spectacular to be back on the field.  And even moreso to be back on the field with my friends.

8 for 9 at the plate and zero missed plays at 3rd, including four smoking grounders, a handful of crazy hops, and a number of line drives.

The best part?  Actually having feeling in my left arm and hand while playing.

And my neck feels great.

Hell.  Yes.

Awesome man.  Glad to hear you're back to form.   thumbsup

This. x100.

While I don't really post in this thread, I have been reading it and staying up to date with everyone's stories.

However I did want to pop in here to say that I accomplished a momentous activity in my life. Yesterday ( Sunday), I ran my first half-marathon, which is just over 13 miles. Definitely the hardest thing I have ever tried, and was a mental battle more than anything. Five years ago, there was no way I could ever have attempted something like this. Just really excited that I am at a point in my life at 44 years old, that I am as healthy as I have ever been.

My finish time was 2 hours, 28 minutes, but really the important thing is that I survived and am still able to walk afterwards.

I'm still a no case guy.  Owned an original iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4, and iPhone 4S with no case on any of them.  No damage on any of them either.

I had my iPhone 4 in pristine condition until 3 days before the 5 arrived. That day, I decided to do some pull-ups after getting back from the gym with my phone in my shorts pocket. Whilst  in mid pull-up, the phone slipped out of my pocket and landed face down on the bathroom tile. It took a nice chip off the face plate. frown

Still no case for the 5, though. I just bought a screen protector from monoprice.com.

Other than the loss of transit, has anyone here complaining about the new maps app had any negative experiences with it?

We tested it going to San Antonio this past weekend, and it was perfect (including a re-route since I took the wrong exit), except until we got to our hotel. Apple maps took us to a spot about 3-4 blocks away from our hotel on the River Walk and wanted me to part and walk the rest of the way.

I happened to be up at the time the pre-sale went live (damn you, insomnia!), but I was able to get in through the Apple site with very little issue and order the black 16GB model. 10 minutes later, a friend of mine said that they're shipping in 2 weeks.

First season isn't all that good, if I remember correctly.  You're definitely not alone in thinking it was cheesy and not all that interesting.  Towards the last few episodes though, you'll start to see Whedon flex his muscles in the writing area in which he can't be beat:  the story arc.  Season 2 starts to pick up quite a bit and by season 3, you'll be hooked.

Alright, I'll continue giving it a chance. Thanks, hep!

Okay, here's another show that I never watched during its original run. I'm in the middle of the second episode, and it's pretty cheese-tastic and pretty dated. At what point does the show pick up steam or get better? Or does it even do so?

I'm 8 episodes into the 1st (2005) season, and I'm enjoying it so far. The first few episodes were a little shaky, almost a little too British-y, but it's grown on me. Now, I have to try to get my wife into it.

I don't understand what part of Romney's pledge to cut taxes on the 1% and broaden the tax base (i.e. raise taxes on everyone else) is supposed to be appealing to me. But I am willing to learn. If only someone could explain why I should feel good about that?

Joined Myfitnesspal.com - username is GamingTrend.   Shock, right?  I also picked up a personal trainer, so that's 2x martial arts nights, 2x personal trainer, plus a 1,100 calorie deficit and ~35 carbs per day, I'm determined to lose some goddamned weight.

I've started something called Lean Gains/Intermittent Fasting about 3 weeks ago and have had fantastic results. The basics are that you fast for 16 hours and eat during the remaining 8 hours. For me, I eat my first meal at 11am and the last before 7pm. I work out 1st thing in the morning and take BCAA prior to working out.

So far, I'm down about 4lbs in 3 weeks, and have leaned out a lot than I have previously in recent memory.

You can read more about it here:

Well it looks like Warner Bros are about to make a decision on The Dark Tower, and word has it that they now want Russell Crowe as Roland,Crowe has yet to be approached with any kind of deal

http://www.sohood.com/2012/08/russell-crowe-set-to-take-over-the-dark-tower-lead/

Ugh...While I think that Crowe can be an amazing actor with the right material, he's not the character of Roland. I'd much rather see someone like Christian Bale in the role. He could probably pull that off better than anyone outside a younger Clint Eastwood at this point.
