I'm guessing that this is a movie that should be properly experienced in a theater.
I'm guessing that this will be the first time that a major movieplex will look like the inside of a porn theater.

Anyone know some good lists of simple strength training work outs? The usual searching online comes up with way too many results that are useless or trying to sell something.
I have a subscription to 24 Hour Fitness and wanted to get better use out of it than just the elliptical and treadmill. They have the usual weights and equipment.
Also, with me dieting heavily, I wanted to avoid the usual muscle loss that comes with that strict diets.
I used to use an iphone app called iFitness, which had few nice lists of workouts that I could just go through and switch between. I just don't have the memory or familiarity with this equipment to come up with my own routines right now.
Turtle, a good start would a program like Starting Strength or Stronglifts. They're very similar and easy to get into.

Did some of you guys even read the original post before going off on your comments? I said, "...the story and plot were great..."
I listed the acting and some of the visual effects as what I saw as shortcomings and asked if the series saw improvement with these two things.

Nope, not butthurt, insulted, or otherwise rustled.
And yes, we watched the new miniseries and regardless of the accolades, word-of-mouth, or cult following, the acting in my opinion, was not all that great safe for a few performances.
Back on point, does the series pick up much after the end of the miniseries? That was the original question, which has been ignored.

I'm with the above two jokers. BSG had some of the best damn acting on a sci fi show ever. And the special effects were pretty damn impressive for the budget they had. You must have been watching the original Battlestar Galactica. That's the only explanation for that immense disconnect from reality I'm seeing. Man, you guys are one butthurtable group. Thanks for being so levelheaded about the whole damn thing.

After much delay, my wife and I finally watched the miniseries that kicked off the show over the course of the last 3 nights. While the story and plot were great, the acting (with a handful of exceptions) and visual effects were pretty bad. Bad to the point that my wife is very hesitant to start the series, and I'm on the fence.
Question for you guys - does the series fix any of these issues, or does it continue the same way as the miniseries?

Word on the street is that he's retiring to work on his semi-autobiographical novel "Pontiff with a Pistol". It's the story of a hard drinkin', hard lovin' Pope who gets embroiled in an underworld scandal after his main squeeze is found murdered.
I heard that he found a decent altar boy to settle down with.

Tsk tsk. When you come up against someone who disagrees with you it's so easy to label them a homophobe or gay-hater because it plays well and has been working...even though in most cases it's an absolute lie. It puts them on the defensive and completely makes anything they say suspect. Great political tactic.
Right, Arclight isn't bigoted against gay couples -- he just supports laws that deny them the same legal rights and protections as heterosexual couples because, in his opinion, they shouldn't be able to share property, insurance, medical decisions, parenting responsibilities, or societal recognition the way *real* couples do. My, what a terrible burden to have the textbook definition of bigotry called out as bigotry! First they came for the slave owners, and I reached for my Bible to teach them that slavery was born of a godly and righteous tradition. Then they came for the misogynists, and I opened my Bible to remind them how Eve was responsible for mankind's eviction from Eden. Then they came for the segregationists, and I held my Bible high and warned that if God condoned miscegenation, He would not have separated the races on different continents. Then they came for the homophobes, and I gripped my Bible fervently and begged them to see why biblical prohibitions on same-sex relationships were inviolate, but the ones on eating shellfish or mixing different types of fabrics could be ignored. At last they came for me, though I was obviously none of those things, and there was no one left to speak for me. They must have remembered all that I had said. -Autistic Angel Bravo, sir. I could not find a clapping smiley, so this will have to do.

I finally hit level 33 on Fitocracy! I checked to see the last time I leveled up, since it has been a while, and it was at the end of June, literally days before neck surgery. It had taken me 38 days to get from level 31 to 32. To get to 33? 215 days. Surgery, a separated shoulder, and all of the recovery that comes along with it seems to really cock up my workout schedule. New perk class unlocked! Although I also learned tonight that my shoulder isn't necessarily completely healed. Played ultimate frisbee as part of the college of pharmacy team, and while I seem to be able to lift pretty well, applied strength in terms of fighting for position, going up for catches, and diving all don't feel very good. Still, it feels good to be competing again. Time for some ibuprofen. yay for level up!

I tried Fitocracy about a year ago, but found the interface confusing, so stopped using it. I should probably check it out again, because it really is a great idea.
If you want any tips or have questions about the site please let me know. Once you get the hang of it, tracking workouts and earning points can be an amazing motivator. There's also an OO group, a Pain Dome (although I haven't seen SmooveB or Trent in a LONG time), and while there's a GT group that got away from me (it was before we could make groups private), we could always start a new one for the GT community. I'd love to see you guys give it a shot. I see rickfc over there constantly and it's nice to both have the support and be able to provide it as well. They also have a new "Welcome to Fitocracy" group to aid new members in adjusting to the format. But whenever you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. The site is a useful tool and has helped SO many people achieve their fitness goals. This. The community on Fitocracy is also a great asset towards reaching your fitness goals. I have yet to find anyone not willing to give you a hand, offer advice, etc. The founders and executive team are also very hands-on and extremely approachable.

Being good, never swearing, giving money, loving, and any other virtue you can think of wont make you a Christian. Being a thief, a liar, an adulterer, wont keep you from becoming a Christian. The notion that someone can live an entirely virtuous life which espouses every single positive aspect that humans can aspire towards (i.e. love, charity, goodwill, service, humility, etc.)...yet still end up in hell because because he/she doesn't happen to do it in the name of Jesus seems utterly ludicrous to me. There's not a chance I could get on board with that. But hey, to each their own. this. x1000

To each their own, I suppose. I enjoyed it quite a lot and am looking forward to the sequel.
this. I'm in this boat, too. Not sure why Devil didn't like it, but I will say it sounds like Ralph never should have come anywhere near this movie, given his background. You remind me of when my dad, who was a lawyer, went to see The Untouchables, and when the courtroom scene at the end happened, he threw up his hands and said, "That would never happen! This movie's terrible." Perhaps so. Throughout the movie I kept wondering what Jane Goodall would think. I understand to a point, but it's also a movie about intelligent apes taking over the world. I didn't go in expecting a nature documentary about real-world behavior of chimps, much like I don't expect hacking and/or computer programming to be depicted accurately on screen. Suspension of disbelief and whatnot.

Damn it, I just came to post this! But yeah, Best. Prank. EVER!!! I was about to do the same. I keep thinking if that was me, one of us would not have come out of there alive. That could NEVER be done in the U.S. Before the host got the words "You've been pranke...." out of his/her mouth, a team of lawyers would suddenly appear in an equally mysterious fashion and start handing out subpoenas like there was no tomorrow. SyFy actually had a similar show on for a while. It was hosted by Shannon Doherty, if I'm not mistaken.

He is pro-life He is against gay marriage; please note, I do not believe gay partners should be prohibited from receiving the same benefits married couples receive in regard to taxes, insurance etc. From a purely religious stand point however, I believe "marriage" is between a man and a woman and I ask you to please let this go, as it is not worth discussing further than this.
Christianity doesn't own the word or even the concept of marriage, the thought that it does is ludicrous. Marriage as a concept predates Christianity and exists in just about every culture around the world. The semantic game being played is horseshit of the highest degree. If a pair of atheists can get married, so should a same sex couple. dingdingdingdingdingdingding

Curious as to how things are going to turn though as the shows 2 creators have declined to renew their contracts and have left Hell on Wheels.
well, here's a start: third season renewal on hold after the executive producer/showrunner unexpectedly departs: AMC just issued a statement confirming that Hell On Wheels showrunner John Shiban has left and that the series’ third season renewal is now contingent on hiring a new showrunner approved by the network. Well, fuck.

Curious as to how things are going to turn though as the shows 2 creators have declined to renew their contracts and have left Hell on Wheels. They may be around for consulting but they are working on major network stuff now, so its doubtful they will have much input. They kept the episodes at 10. Thats not necessarily a bad thing as they kind of rambled last season and maybe they will tighten up the series and condense the story line a bit and try to eliminate some of the filler they fell back on so often last season. My prediction for next season : Well, the Swede did almost become the Joker to Bohannon's Batman.

We have a fundamental disagreement, in that I believe if you or anyone label Obama as anything but an epic failure you probably ought to be tested before being allowed to vote. (I kid, sort of)
So, what you're saying is that anyone that disagrees with your opinion should be put under more stringent requirements before they're allowed to vote. Tell me, does this also apply to those of the opposite sex, different ethnicity, and/or sexual preference?
