I hate all this "DC Universe" thing.

Batman should be its own universe. Superman should be it's own universe.

I know comic book buffs will come swarming saying that Bats and Supes has been in one universe (almost) all along, but I don't give a shit; I don't read comics.

Here you go!

Uh... for an Asylum movie, that actually has pretty decent CGI.  saywhat

What were they called in your version of the book?

"Summere", which basically means buzzers, as in the noise insects make.

And I actually though it was common knowledge what a bugger means, but I guess thats a UK thing mostly, and not as widespread in the states.

Nope, but when I read the book with the name bugger in it I just assumed it was because they looked like bugs.

Quote from: Ironrod on July 10, 2013, 10:40:10 PM

I don't, and I really should. I assume that everything automatically passes to my wife (and vice versa), but if we should die together I fear that lawyers and the state would take what little we have...or, worse, it would go to my brother in law. My nephews and niece are beneficiaries to our retirement accounts, which are our only real assets, but our house and cars are worth at least something and there is no obvious heir to those.

So where do you get a legally binding will for free or dirt cheap, preferably without actually having to deal with a lawyer?

Depends on the state, but in California and New York, you can just write one yourself and sign it. Even better if you have a neutral witness sign it as well (make sure the witness is NOT mentioned in the will itself). Then put it in a safe, known, place.

There's templates online you can peruse for the language to use and so forth.

For a simple will (as your seems to be), there's no real reason to get an attorney to do it for you.

I do wonder what they'll name it. If they go with Superman "titles," then there's "Man of Tomorrow" and "Last Son of Krypton", which might have made more sense for this one. Or could, perhaps, the biggest film of 2016 be called "The Big Blue Boy Scout"?

Last Son of Krypton... not bad.

I feel like they should've held the Man of Steel title for the second (and hopefully best) film, to align with the Dark Knight. But dunno, maybe they'll pull out a cooler title.

Dunno about you guys, but I saw the movie and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to where they'll take this.

I like the serious/dark take on Superman. The only thing I didn't like in the movie was the Jor-El AI. Why is it even in there, and how was it there 2,000 (or however long it was) years before Baby Supes arrived?

So despite seeing the film four times in four days, apparently I missed nearly ALL the more subtle classic Star Trek easter eggs.

If you've seen it, you might check out this feature on it:

Box office wise, B.O. Mojo indicated Hangover III led Thursday ($11.8M), though it opened weaker than Darkness did on its "stealth" Thursday opening last week ($13.5M), albeit on a couple hundred or so fewer screens. I'm not really convinced these "soft" Thursday starts are really boosting summer movies much -- money is money of course, you just wonder if it almost waters down the Friday opening excitement. Darkness chipped in another $5.1M to reach $108.8M domestically/$189.3M globally.

So at the very least, the film has about recouped its $190M production cost. And there are definitely many, many countries it hasn't opened in yet (BOmojo also doesn't update international figures as often as domestic stuff).

I know it's not just me that read that as "body odor mojo".

Carry on.

Had the original iPad, now the 3rd Generation. Both 16 GB. Never really had serious problems. I did run out of memory, but after deleting a couple of apps I don't really use, I'm good.

As for transferring media, I never use iTunes. I just toss them in my Dropbox folder and it shows up on the iPad. I favorite the ones I want to view offline when required. Easy.

As for conversion, the iPad's native video player only supports .mp4 or .mov, but if you don't want to convert, just buy a player that supports other formats. AVPlayerHD is a good one I hear.

On the plus side, doing that saves me massive amounts of money! smile

I would call New Spring an optional thing and not required reading. I definitely wouldn't start with New Spring since it will spoil things in the first book at least. I think it was intended to be read by people after reading the first few books.

I actually thought New Spring sucked, even though it seems many liked it. Dunno.
