1961  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Thinking of buying an Apple computer on: October 24, 2004, 01:19:02 AM
I totally agree with you on the one-button mouse. I hate that thing. That's why I'm using my Intellimouse Optical. Works great, and you can use the extra buttons for expose. Or the usual uses it has on the PC if you get the IntelliPoint drivers/software. Just about any USB mouse will work in OS X natively. Logitech also has OS X-based mouse drivers if you have/like Logitech mice.

As for browser, Safari rocks! If you still don't like it for some reason, there's many browsers on OS X to try out... Firefox, Camino and Mozilla are the most popular. Just don't even think of using Internet Explorer, it's outdated by two years, out of development, and sucked even when it was IN development. Just stay away.

Yeah, I think my favorite one is You spoony bard!, the brilliantly hilarious quote from Tellah of Final Fantasy IV.
1963  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Hey lawyers (LSAT and GPA Q's) on: October 23, 2004, 04:28:51 AM
I hope the lawyers from Gone Gold still read the forums around here.

I'm majoring in philosophy, and plan to go to law school. I'm just wondering how the lawyers who has been there, done that, went about it. What's a good LSAT score? I'm thinking 165 and over? And how did you prepare for it? And what was your GPA? What should I keep it at? I currently have a 4.0 GPA, but I'm screwing up big time this semester, so that 4.0 will go poof. I'm hoping to go to either Georgetown or New York University law schools. Cornell would be nice, but dunno if I can get in. I think/hope I'll end up practicing in New York, so a New York school is ideal.

Sorry for the barrage of questions smile

Thanks in advance.

Well is that 6800GT a PCI Express card or an AGP card? Cuz if it's a PCI Express card, then the nForce 4 is your best bet.
1965  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / "Disc Read Error" NOOO!!! [PS2] on: October 23, 2004, 02:46:35 AM
Oh well, guess I'll hold on to it for now, and wait until it gets worse :p Currently it's only one game that's getting the read errors. The PS3 will come out eventually, and I'm hoping it'll be backwards compatible with the PS2 and PS1. If it is, excellent. If not, I'll buy the PSTwo.
1966  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / "Disc Read Error" NOOO!!! [PS2] on: October 22, 2004, 03:25:26 PM
The EB deal is over on Oct. 30, is not it? Hmm, maybe I should take this dying PS2 there, take the $100 credit and get a PSTwo?

Question is, how well does it play PS1 games? Cuz that's very important to me.

1968  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Best mb for athlon 64 3500+? on: October 22, 2004, 05:38:31 AM
The nForce 4 will be coming out within the month, or so I hear. That'll probably be your best bet, unless you already have a video card you want to use (the nForce 4 is a PCI Express-based mobo).
1969  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / "Disc Read Error" NOOO!!! [PS2] on: October 21, 2004, 08:43:21 PM
So, I bought my PS2 a couple of months after it was first released. And I had absolutely zero problems with it ever since... until now. I borrowed a copy of Mega Man X6 from a friend, and inserted it into my PS2... Disc Read Error. Okay, I thought, it's probably scratched or something. So I went back and tried it on his PS2... and it worked.

God damn it! My first disc read error... I hear stories about some PS2's that can only read DVD's or some such. frown frown frown Damn you, Sony.

I have a 512 MB DDR266. I'm using it right now, but I'm thinking of tossing the whole thing soon, so show me what games you got, and I might think about it.

Fireball, I want a Mac for everyday use (net, email, music) and photo editing. The photo editing part is what scares me. A laptop's small screen size would be a problem for that.

I think a 17" 1.8ghz iMac would be good with 512 megs, but can I add another 512 easily when I have the money to do so? iMacs look like they are hard to upgrade. Can you even upgrade them once they are built? I can't add a hard drive but can I upgrade the hard drive at a later time?

Would that iMac run Adobe Photo Elements good? Maybe I should forget photo editing on it and leave that for the PC?

I wouldn't game much on it if at all, just small time wasters or the Spiderweb Software games, so the 64 meg video card wouldn't be a problem.

The iMac G5 is much more expandable than the previous iMac G4. You can upgrade the HD, optical drive and RAM. The only thing you can't upgrade is the graphics card (which is soldered to the motherboard). You can add up to 2 GB of RAM if you want.

As for the speed, are you kidding me? The G5 is a FAST processor. MUCH faster than a P4 clock-for-clock. I could run Photoshop CS great on my 900 MHz G3 iBook. That G5 will eat Photoshop Elements for lunch.
1974  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Thinking of buying an Apple computer on: October 20, 2004, 01:38:14 AM
The iMac is a line of Macintosh (Mac) computers. All Apple's computers are Macs. That's the difference between the iMac and the Mac.

As the above poster said, Apple just released a new updated lineup of their iBooks, the base being $999 1.2 GHz iBook, which is an awesome deal. If you can't stand the 12" screen, you can always hook it up to your current monitor, and use it like a desktop. That's what I'm doing with my iBook G3 900 MHz.

Hey, they didn't even name any of the Ravens in their "invite" thread! *spit* spineless scurvies!

Seriously though, take a chill pill, LE. I, too, have questioned their ulterior motives in the other thread, but to tell you the truth, there's not much we can do about it. I don't grudge the BS'ers for going to BS. I'm just not going to go over there and post there. That's my choice, and there's damn they can do about it.

"I may disagree with what you say, but I will fight to the death your right to say it" (phrased) whoever said this is a wise one.

$50 for TWO people, I can see. I'm talking about ONE person. $25 for one person, that's not crazy-expensive. I've been to restaurants that's even more expensive, and regularly at that.

But then I'm from the New York City area, so yeah I'm one of those snobby people, not rich though :p
1982  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Pf Changs on: October 17, 2004, 07:00:23 PM
I have a PF Changs near where I live, and I go there from time to time. $50 a meal? What are you smoking? I typically spend $15 at most on my meals there. Not that expensive.

Yeah, in a certain mission, you save a girl, and she becomes your girlfriend. Then in certain driveby shooting missions, she's in your ride, and one person drives, and the other shoots. That's basically it.

 That much?

Thank god it ain't my money at all, and I couldn't care less. But still, I have to ask; does it have to be embroided? Couldn't it be printed, like t-shirts? The polo shirts I'm looking at are cotton made, and the material is like regular t-shirts, so I couldn't see why not. I would like to get as much information as I can before the next meeting on Monday.
1988  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Need help... Good cheap places for screen printing? on: October 16, 2004, 03:34:09 AM
Cheap brand shirts, not looking for anything fancy... But not so cheap that it shrinks to toddler size after the first laundry slywink I'm going to need 13 shirts, 11 women and 2 men, each with their name on one sleeve. Unigender shirts is preferable (for convenience's sake). Varying sizes, as well.
1989  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is this starting to feel like GG? on: October 16, 2004, 03:24:30 AM
No offense to the other forum, but this pisses me off a bit. Everyone flies here after GG went down, KD made tons of accommodations (of which I'm very appreciative), and then alluva sudden, everyone flies over to that half-assed forum, and it's dead here again.

I need someone to make shirts for me. This organization wants about 12 or so polo shirts with the logo on the breast and their names on the sleeve (everyone has their own name on their own shirt), and the year on the other sleeve.

Anyone know of a good, cheap company that does this? I'm in the DC area, so if there's a local good one, that's viable too, although I prefer online.

May be a bit of a tangent, but how does the game look at the lowest graphical setting?

I'm thinking of playing this on my laptop, which has a 32MB Radeon 7500 Mobility. While not a monster by the farthest stretch of the imagination, I'm sure it can handle WoW at a low graphical setting.
