1961  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / And I'll take your dusty DREAMCAST stuff (good idea, LANER)! on: October 17, 2004, 04:57:12 AM
Sonic Adventure, Resident Evil: Code Veronica, Soul Calibur, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, the console itself, controllers, memory card...

Want any of them? Show me what you have, and we can talk.

Yeah, in a certain mission, you save a girl, and she becomes your girlfriend. Then in certain driveby shooting missions, she's in your ride, and one person drives, and the other shoots. That's basically it.

1965  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Need help... Good cheap places for screen printing? on: October 16, 2004, 07:08:07 AM
 That much?

Thank god it ain't my money at all, and I couldn't care less. But still, I have to ask; does it have to be embroided? Couldn't it be printed, like t-shirts? The polo shirts I'm looking at are cotton made, and the material is like regular t-shirts, so I couldn't see why not. I would like to get as much information as I can before the next meeting on Monday.

Cheap brand shirts, not looking for anything fancy... But not so cheap that it shrinks to toddler size after the first laundry slywink I'm going to need 13 shirts, 11 women and 2 men, each with their name on one sleeve. Unigender shirts is preferable (for convenience's sake). Varying sizes, as well.
1967  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is this starting to feel like GG? on: October 16, 2004, 03:24:30 AM
No offense to the other forum, but this pisses me off a bit. Everyone flies here after GG went down, KD made tons of accommodations (of which I'm very appreciative), and then alluva sudden, everyone flies over to that half-assed forum, and it's dead here again.

I need someone to make shirts for me. This organization wants about 12 or so polo shirts with the logo on the breast and their names on the sleeve (everyone has their own name on their own shirt), and the year on the other sleeve.

Anyone know of a good, cheap company that does this? I'm in the DC area, so if there's a local good one, that's viable too, although I prefer online.

1976  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / WoW...Is it a explorers paradise? on: October 15, 2004, 12:18:27 AM
May be a bit of a tangent, but how does the game look at the lowest graphical setting?

I'm thinking of playing this on my laptop, which has a 32MB Radeon 7500 Mobility. While not a monster by the farthest stretch of the imagination, I'm sure it can handle WoW at a low graphical setting.

Although I don't play Pokemon anymore, back when Blue and Red was all the rage, I was a huge fan. Played them alot, I had the Blue, then Yellow versions. Used to take my Game Boy Pocket to school and trade and fight with my friends. It was fun. It went out like a fad at my school, so I ran out of people to trade/play with, so I stopped.

1983  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / AGP vs. PCI slots for Video cards on: October 14, 2004, 02:57:13 AM
PCI Express is going to replace both AGP and plain PCI (and it's successor, PCI-X, but that's a whole another post). So running cards in SLI mode is now possible and easier - since you can use any of the PCI Express slots for your card.

That's how I understand it.

Hey, wankerjr, not to sidetrack things, but how is EB preselling the DS anyway? Will they require you to purchase shit like my EB did with the PS2, Xbox, AND Gamecube just to buy the damn thing on day 1? Or will they be nice for once and just sell the thing straight?

Currently EB is just doing straight up pre-sell of the DS for $10 IIRC. Nothing extra to buy at this point. I'm personally waiting to see if they are going to run a trade in deal for the GBA SP.

Heh, I'm sure they'll sell the Nintendo DS itself for $150, then lower the price to $149 if you trade in your SP.

Guess I'd do myself a favor and check out the director's cut.

1991  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / R&P Decision on: October 13, 2004, 03:21:59 AM
KD, I'm one of those who disagreed with your ban on R+P discussion.

But I'll have to say that I'm much happier with the clarification. Many of us, including me, wants EBG back. The freedom of discussions of anything we want is the reason I stayed ag GoneGold. I went there at first for the game discussion, but EBG is what kept me going there. I agree with Poleaxe that EBG is the heart and soul of GoneGold.

With the clarification/revision, I hope Off Topic will become the EBG of old, pre-R+P Forum days, where we debate politics and religion in EBG, yet the R+P threads never flooded the forums. Our inability to moderate ourselves is evident when it became so overwhelming that Bill made the R+P forums, but with the tight moderation here, perhaps a split won't be necessary.
1992  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / EVERYONE READ PLEASE on: October 12, 2004, 03:20:58 PM
While I largely disagree with your refusal to set up a R+P forum, I will live with it, and demand it again some other day :p slywink

For the GG archive/database... here's an idea... how about you set it up, and leave it open to everyone, only for a limited time, say, for two weeks or a month or something. That way we all will have a chance to go in, salvage all the threads/posts we want, and transplant them here if desired. After that is done, I don't think a GG archive will be needed much longer. This seems like a good compromise for us and money.

I like your ideas DarkEl. That'll definitely convince me to change my bookmark from the forum to the site itself biggrin

I am aware that creating forums is very easy (I have experience administering a PHPBB board), so I didn't feel bad if you should do a frankenstein-izing GG and CG into one forum. Reinstating the GG mods to their respective forums to make it feel like home would be cool! biggrin Nah, it's completely up to you.

After reading Stephen's post, it seems it's permanent. So I'm definitely sticking around.

(Away with the media forum! biggrin)

EDIT: Refreshed the main forum page, and BAM! PC Gaming Forum. Maybe I missed that before. Remove Media, add R+P and move Hardware Hell up to the first category (makes more logical sense to me) and it's perfect.

1997  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / EVERYONE READ PLEASE on: October 12, 2004, 02:47:24 AM
All right, here's my take...

Firstly, like all the others, I'd like to thank you for your generosity towards the GG'ers who came here.

With that out of the way... What accommodations would I want? There's a few... A separate PC games forum... Maybe a forum separate (General Console Discussion, Console Games by Title, then General PC Game Discussion and PC Games by Title). I'm not sure about the multiplayer forum, since it seems to be quiet enough for both, and the lines are blurred anyway. Add a Hardware Help/Discussion, and designate it for hardware discussion of both PC and consoles (the Nintendo DS vs. PSP thread over in the other forum would belong there, for example). A R+P forum (I don't visit often myself, but political discussion is inevitable, and that's what many Gone Golders stay for - the political/religious duscussion, and I feel that it's unfair to keep that away). Maybe a Weekly Value forum.

Yeah, basically a merging of the GG forum and the CG forum into one. What you want to do with the front page is entirely up to you - the GG community thrived without the front page for years, and I feel that the lack of frontpage content kind of contributes to the GoneGold feel. Dunno, maybe I'm just mad slywink.

Lastly, I don't want to say this, but what you said is true. If someone gets the Gone Gold Forum database, and resurrects the forums, somewhere or on itself, I will be gone, as will many of us. Sure I will come back occasionally and lurk, like I has in the past. But not actively post like I do now, and will if this turns out to be permanent. It's the people I post with, not the site, if you know what I mean. You did an amazing job with Console Gold, and I applaud you for the job well done. But it's not for me.

One more final note: If this turns into a truly permanent thing, we're refugees no longer, and are actual contributing members of this forum. So don't feel like you're "accommodating" the Gone Gold people - we are former Gone Golders who has came to post here, and as strange as that may sound, we are the majority here now. So you're changing to suit your audience if you will. It's just the wise thing to do smile

Again, thanks.
