I'd like to be on your gift distribution list if you guys get iPad minis in bulk!

I wonder if you would be able to take advantage of Apple's rather amazing 1 year support if you bought this without a receipt?  (not you but whomever buys it)

Yes you can -- however without a receipt if you disagree with the date of purchase in their database you're SOL. But other than that, you're good without a receipt.

From the titles above, it seems that I misremembered -- it's actually the last 4 books, not 2, that was pretty good. So you have to slog through 4 crappy books, which doesn't sound so bad without the waiting between books biggrin

I would call New Spring an optional thing and not required reading. I definitely wouldn't start with New Spring since it will spoil things in the first book at least. I think it was intended to be read by people after reading the first few books.

I actually thought New Spring sucked, even though it seems many liked it. Dunno.

Shadow of the Colossus. Played on a ~150" screen thrown by a 720p projector against a white wall.

The most epic gaming experience I've ever had.

So, it's probably ridiculous to ask, but is the series worth reading?

Well, the first 6 or so books are pretty awesome. Then it sucked for books 7-11. Then it became awesome again for books 12 and 13.

I can't wait to read this, but that's only because I read all the previous books. Would I start if I haven't? I'm not so sure...

As for what type of fantasy it is, I would say it's its own beast. But if I must choose, I think it's slightly closer to Martin than Tolkien. But it's still nothing like those two authors.

Cleveland isn't in the Northeast.

Last I heard we (Boston) are expecting a typical slopstorm (what they call "a wintery mix") tonight, changing to heavy rain and high winds tomorrow.

Actually I agree with you, BUT;). This area IS considered the northeast, look it up. It doesn't make much sense, but that's what it is;).

the Census Bureau called and said you're wrong.

I'm just surprised to see Maryland and Delaware are considered The South.  Tongue

I suppose the Census Bureau has the final word, but other sources I checked are inconsistent about those two states. As someone who lives here, I've always understood the Northeast to mean New England plus NY, PA, and NJ. We will probably admit DE, but I'm going to need to review MD's application more carefully.

I've always included DC in the northeast, so that'll necessarily include MD.

VA is where it ends, though.

I thought the beginning was kind of okay, the middle meh, but the end portion was unforgettable.
128  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / FS: OEM Windows 7 Ultimate (32-Bit + 64-Bit) FINALLY SOLD on: December 23, 2012, 06:16:06 PM
I posted in KSD's thread that I have Windows 7 I'm willing to sell, and people keep PMing me wanting to buy, and when it's time for them to send me payment, they get scarce.

So I'm putting it up here explicitly. It's Windows 7 Ultimate. The 'official' DVD is 32-bit. I downloaded and made my own 64-bit DVD, which is included.

It's all legit -- the product key is good for BOTH 32-Bit and 64-Bit versions. Proof from a quick Googling

This is the full version.

I kind of specifically indicated that zany wasn't necessary.  And Returns is not for me, either.

I'm all for a realistic Superman movie, but that's still possible without making the whole thing drip with somber gloom.

The somber, gloomy parts of the Batman trilogy are my favorite. You can say that it's because it's the fucking Batman, and this is Superman -- which is true. But a dark take on Superman is looking HOLY SHIT I SHIT MY PANTS awesome -- just as a zany take on Batman is not-quite-shitting-my-pants-but-still awesome (Adam West anyone?). Different takes on the same heroes.

Surprisingly Costner's answer to the young Clark sitting on the back of his pick up is one of the most interesting points of the trailer for me,we have all grown up knowing Pa Kent instilled good into Clark and taught him about Values etc,So Costner's Pa Kent saying that made me raise my eyebrows a little

Man of Steel looks like its going to have a lot of questions and a really interesting story
Agreed. I just don't want Snyder's Superman to be mopey, ya know? I think they can take this different tact without reducing him to a constantly sad, unhappy character in a movie with no sense of fun. imho the first couple Superman films had both a sense of seriousness and a sense of fun, and that's really not easy to balance. I hope Snyder can achieve that.

I can sort of see Nolan's involvement as far as wanting to ground - as much as possible - the story in the concept of "Well, if Superman really could exist, how would our governments and populace respond to it?" Would we embrace him and just welcome him, or would we automatically see him as a walking time-bomb and threat to civilization? Or as a 'weapon of mass destruction' that a government needed to control. And does that veer too far into X-Men territory?  icon_smile

We'll see if a summer movie audience can handle that kind of ambiguity vs., you know, obliterating masses of space aliens. I embrace both. icon_smile

This echoes my concerns as well.  I can't say that these trailers have made me excited for Superman at all.  The color palette alone is quite dim, and that seems to be echoed by the whole tone of the film.  Frankly, it's not really what I'm lookong for from a Superman movie.

I'm willing to give it a try, of course, but if it's just mopey with no sense of fun, they've missed something essential with the character, I think.  A Superman film doesn't have to be light.  The chracter doesn't have to be a boy scout, either, but he shouldn't be grim or morose.

The grim, dark tone of the trailer is what got me really excited about the movie. You want fun and zany? Superman 1, 2 and Returns is for you. I enjoyed those films, but I am really looking forward to a more realistic Superman movie. Well, as realistic as a flying, invulnerable guy from outer space can be, anyway biggrin

Whatever the addresses are, always ship to the one that's listed as "confirmed" on PayPal.

The exception is Castlevania games. I collect them.

Do you plan to play any games on it?  If so, I would advise against the 8 GB.  You only get to use about 5 GB of the space, and with some games taking up almost 2 GB, you don't have much room to work with.  I have the 8 GB Google Nexus 7 and I'm constantly running out of space.

Yeah, but very little. I do most of my gaming on my iPad. My games on my iPhone take up ~500 MB total.

I cannot for the life of me figure out if its more harmful than cigarettes and alcohol or not.

I have close family who's life has been screwed over by living a life of alcohol or drugs, and is now paying the price (Memory loss, poor health, unable to work) and as late as this week a local rapper tells about a Hash psychosis that caused him to attack a girl.

Then on the other hand, its medicinal and used by many people who apparently never have any issues with it?

I tried it twice myself, and was extremely sick so have stayed away after that, but man - Its difficult for me to understand what the difference is between these two views on the drug.

I've tried it a couple times as well, and decided it's not for me. But I think the answer to your question is simple enough -- moderation. Same thing with alcohol.

Awwwwww..... it's an iPhone 5. A black one even. Sigh.  disgust icon_lol fwiw, I can verify it was in good shape at least in the box (no scratches, chips, weirdness, so far).

I dunno. Should I whip it out, or wait until I have a case for it? Yes, I'm talking about the phone.  icon_razz

I can verify that for an iOS product at least, it's incredibly thin/light (feels as light if not lighter than my previous gen iPod Touch, and as thin) and fits comfortably in my shirt pocket as the Touch did).

Public transit. It has none.

Transit was about one of the few things I used the map app for before I moved out into the country.  luckily I can still pull up Google Maps through Safari and use it that way in a pinch, but it won't matter in a couple of months.

Maps in Safari /= native Maps.

Yes, once Google releases their own app, I will upgrade. Until then, I'm staying on iOS 5.
